Thanks a Sheetload for Choosing “BS”!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ After donning the Dark Knight’s iconic cape and cowl in a trio of celebrated Batman films, fans are understandably curious how Christian Bale feels about Robert Pattinson taking on the beloved role. As it turns out, Bale thinks it’s a pretty great decision, and he seems to have a lot of confidence in the star’s ability to take up the mantle of the Caped Crusader. When asked about it while promoting his upcoming historical biopic “Ford v Ferrari” at the Toronto International Film Festival, Bale said: “All the best to him! You know, I think he’s an absolutely fantastic actor. Wonderful choice for Batman!”
(Did he say it in his Batman voice?)

★ Real-life couple Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker are taking their romance to the stage in a revival of Neil Simon’s “Plaza Suite.” Plaza Suite is a set of three, one-act plays about six different characters. This production is the first revival of one of Simon’s plays since he died last August. The new production of Plaza Suite will first travel to Boston for a 22-performance, pre-Broadway engagement, and then play a strictly limited 17-week Broadway run beginning on March 13.

★ Ashton Kutcher blames Adele for his moustache. He’s been sporting the facial hair for some time and explained it was a result of his wife Mila Kunis misinforming him about the dress code for Adele’s birthday party. Kutcher found out on the day of the party that it was ’70s themed — hence the mustache. He says: “So we show up and I’m looking round, and nobody else is in 1970s anything! The theme for the party’s 1930s New Year and I look like…Burt Reynolds from Boogie Nights!” So why does he still have it? He says, “Now it’s a spite ’stache and I’m keeping it!”

★ The iconic action movie “Face/Off” is set to be rebooted. The 1997 thriller centred around an outlandish storyline which sees John Travolta play an FBI agent who is on an all-consuming mission to catch a terrorist – portrayed by Nicolas Cage – who killed his son. It is not yet known whether Travolta or Cage will be involved in the remake in any capacity.

★ Judith Light will be honored with the 2,673rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today. Her breakthrough role was in the ABC daytime soap opera “One Life to Live” from 1977 to 1983. Her other television work includes: “Ugly Betty,” (Emmy Nomination), “Law and Order, SVU”, “Dallas,” and “Who’s the Boss.”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
Ariana Grande – says her “heart is bursting” after a group of interns at NASA’s Johnson Space Center created a video remix of her song ‘NASA’. The clip contains re-imagined lyrics and scenes in order to “inform the public about the amazing work going on at NASA and the Johnson Space Center.”
• Avicii — To commemorate his legacy and promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention, last week, his parents announced the Avicii Tribute Concert for Mental Health Awareness. Among those scheduled to appear are David Guetta, Kygo, Rita Ora and Adam Lambert. Tickets for the concert, to take place Dec. 5 in his hometown of Stockholm, Sweden, sold out in 30 minutes…all 55,000 of them.
• Britney Spears — has a new conservator. Her care manager, Jodi Montgomery, was named temporary conservator after Spears’ father, Jamie, asked the court to let him step down for health reasons. It’s speculated that Jamie will try to step back into the role early next year.
• Kurt Cobain—His daughter Frances Bean has curated a new official clothing collection to commemorate her late father. She worked with The End of Music – the business arm of the Nirvana frontman’s estate – and Live Nation Merchandise on ‘Kurt Was Here’, line of t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies adorned with paintings, sketches and hand-written notes.
• Trans-Siberian Orchestra – have announced their winter tour 2019. The return of “Christmas Eve And Other Stories”, featuring all-new staging and effects, will begin on November 13 in Green Bay and will visit 66 cities for 109 performances across North America before concluding on December 30.

• Guns N’ Roses — guitarist Slash says there is no truth to the rumor that the band has recorded a new song for the new “Terminator: Dark Fate” movie. The band’s 1991 track ‘You Could Be Mine’ appeared in the soundtrack for “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”, and again in the 2009 sequel “Terminator Salvation”.
• Jason Aldean — stunned several truck drivers and line-haul partners with Amazon Music, by performing at a surprise Amazon-hosted concert in Nashville. During the show, set up in a truck stop, Aldean pointed out that “It’s Trucker’s Appreciation Week, and my grandfather was a truck driver.”
• Brett Young – His wife Taylor has revealed on Insta that the couple were legally married on Aug. 10, 2018, three months before the fancy California wedding that they had shared on social media. She says they secretly ventured to the Rhinestone Wedding Chapel in Nashville to say their vows and “decided not to tell anyone we were married before our wedding day [with the exception of my sister because she’s the best secret keeper.] We didn’t want to take away from our wedding ceremony in November.”

GREAT FOR THE GUYS, NOT SO GREAT FOR THE GIRLS:
So few young men have their act together these days that women are being forced to lower their standards. That’s according to research published in the “Journal of Family and Marriage”. The study found that the reason for the decline of the marriage rate in recent years is probably related to the lack of “economically attractive” male spouses. The lead author of the study says that in the current “gig economy” of unstable, low-paying jobs, there are “large deficits” in the supply of potential male spouses, “especially as young women’s educational levels on average now exceed their male suitors.” Some women, these, days are even said to be “dating down” in order to score a forever partner.
(So, cheer up, guys! You might not be so ugly after all!)
(I’m pretty sure that makes my wife a trailblazer…!)
(This is where I’d normally have a joke to make fun of these guys…but I, uh…don’t have my stuff together either…)

BURGER AND BETTER THINGS:
McDonald’s has announced that they have agreed to purchase the voice-based the company Apprente, which could result in automated drive-thrus in the future. The fast food company has already tested Apprente’s technology at some restaurants, where customers could drive up to the menu board and speak to a voice-powered machine to place an order, then drive up to the window to pick up their order. Sound familiar? Yes, just like placing your order with a human. McDonald’s plans to have the technology available in all of its U.S. restaurants and about 1,000 Australia stores by the end of the year.
(I hope the AI voice is able to master the fine art of unintelligible drive-thru speaker-talk!)
(Um, couldn’t they just use Alexa?)
(But does a computer know enough to tell teenagers to buzz off when they try to go through in reverse?)

WAYS YOU PROBABLY WASTE YOUR MONEY:
➠ Not being a ‘list’ person:  If you’ve ever gone to the mall for “a couple things”, you know that goes. Make a list and stick to it, or use the store’s pickup service, where the “someone else” who picks up your things won’t make impulse purchases. (Even if it’s a REALLY GOOD DEAL?)
➠ Not playing the interest rate game: With rates at historic lows, odds are you can get a lower fixed-interest rate right now…on any loan you have – car, mortgage, student, or even credit cards. (NOBODY is lending me enough money to cover all that!)
➠ Not asking for discounts:  Clothing stores. Wine stores. Using Groupon. Finding Facebook groups for deals. Quite often, when you ask at a store for a deal or coupon, the salesperson says ‘yes’. (And just imagine what he says to his co-workers when you leave the store!)
➠ Overpriced food and drink:  Between the “grab and go” convenience factor of fast-food, paying for overpriced drinks on a summer night, dining out when you don’t feel like cooking, or just grabbing a coffee drink or two every day, try to pinpoint your daily consumption and see where you can cut back. (Hard to do, I know, especially when the kids are wondering why they can’t go to McDonalds too!)
➠ Not checking your phone bill:  You should regularly audit your cell phone bill. Things like paying for extra storage that you may not even realize you signed up for, or apps you forgot you ordered in the first place, they all add up. (Remember when it was all about long distance calls?)
➠ Forgetting to return items:  Did it “look good at the time” and now you “keep meaning” to return it? One of the top over-spending habits is forgetting to return items. Set aside a day to return those ill-fitting clothes, unwanted electronics, and other impulse buys you now don’t want or use. (The problem is…I already drank it!)

DID YOU KNOW?
There is a current real estate listing in Toronto for a garage…for $599,999. The listing of the 20 by 100-foot lot containing what appears to be a dilapidated one-car garage “in desirable Danforth Village”, was originally part of a larger lot but was severed off many years ago. The average price of a detached home in the City of Toronto is $1,246,392.
