Here’s More Bull Roar!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ 2020 was an election year, so it’s no surprise that even the Golden Raspberry Awards tilted heavily political. Across categories that included Worst Picture, Worst Actor and Actress, and Worst Screen Combo, the big winners-slash-losers were pop star Sia’s controversial musical “Music”, with 3 Razzies, “My Pillow Guy” Mike Lindell’s documentary “Absolute Proof” with 2, and “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”, which also took 2 categories – Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screen Combo – thanks to former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s infamous cameo in the Oscar-nominated sequel.

★ “Saturday Night Live” has announced that Elon Musk, the eccentric CEO of Tesla and one of the richest people on the planet, will guest-host the show. Miley Cyrus will be joining Musk as musical guest on the May 8 edition of the program. The move immediately drew backlash from critics and fans online, possibly due to Musk’s controversial comments about COVID-19 throughout the pandemic. The choice of Musk is an odd one for “SNL” since the show is not known for picking hosts from the tech or business world. The show has, however, selected business moguls before, including former New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner and, of course, former US President Donald Trump, before he was president.

★ Caitlyn Jenner announced Friday that she has filed initial paperwork to become a candidate for California governor. In a press release, she said: “Californians want better and deserve better from their governor.” The 71-year-old longtime Republican will be joining the field of candidates hoping to replace Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom in a likely recall election later this year. Her run comes nearly two decades after the ascendancy of Arnold Schwarzenegger, another Republican who used his Hollywood fame as a springboard to the state’s highest office in a 2003 recall election.

★ A documentary about late celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain is coming to theaters this summer. Bourdain shot to fame after the publication of his frank, behind-the-scenes account of restaurant life, “Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly” in 2000, and he became a beloved culinary travel guide with his CNN series “Parts Unknown.” He died in June 2018 at age 61. “Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain” will hit theatres on July 16.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Post Malone – will be releasing 2 new albums this year, according to his manager. Dre London shared a picture on Instagram indicating Malone had agreed “that the world deserves 2 Posty projects out this year!” He also hinted that the title of one of the new projects could be revealed this week.
• Ed Sheeran — is planning his musical comeback. He’s been on an 18-month hiatus to spend time with his wife Cherry Seaborn and baby daughter Lyra, but was spotted filming a music video in London last week. He was seen playing his guitar on a rooftop and dressed as a vampire for some scenes filmed in a cafe.
• Justin Bieber – stars in a new video put together by Bill Nye the Science Guy to help save the planet. Nye teamed with Facebook Watch for “Earth Day! The Musical”, also featuring Zac Efron, Idina Menzel, DJ Steve Aoki and others. The video goes behind the scenes on the fictional Broadway musical starring Bieber, while Nye spreads awareness of climate change and attempts to spur action among young people.
• Sia – was named “worst director” for her controversial debut film at the Razzies, the pre-Oscars awards for the year’s worst movies. Titled “Music”, the movie was criticized for casting Maddie Ziegler in the autistic lead role and for its portrayal of autism. It was described as an “insensitive” and “ill-conceived” “autism musical”.
• Def Leppard — will release “Def Leppard – Volume Three”, the third installment of their limited-edition box set series, on June 1. The package, in 9-LP and 6-CD formats, includes the band’s 3 studio albums from the ’00s: “X” “Yeah!” and “Songs From the Sparkle Lounge”, plus 3 compilations of B-sides, covers and live recordings.
• Dave Grohl — paid tribute to his “family history” by releasing a duet with his daughter. He and 15-year-old Violet teamed up for a cover of X’s 1980 song ‘Nausea’. It will be featured in his upcoming documentary “What Drives Us”. Grohl’s grandmother once told him he could be related to X drummer DJ Bonebrake because his surname was her maiden name.
• Brad Paisley – will headline Nashville’s 2021 4th of July celebration, which will be a full-audience event. The free, family-friendly event, which usually draws more than 200,000, will feature “the biggest fireworks show in Nashville history,” according to organizers, and the Nashville Symphony will perform at Ascend Amphitheater in synchronization with the fireworks. More acts will be announced.
• Brett Young — will release his third major label album, “Weekends Look a Little Different These Days,” on June 4. It contains 8 songs, 7 of which Young co-wrote. He has already released ‘Not Yet’.
• Maren Morris – had a cheeky response when The Sun erroneously wrote that she “gave birth to her first child with husband Luke Bryan in March 2020.” The problem? Morris is married to country musician Ryan Hurd. With a crying-laughing emoji, she posted a screenshot of the article with the words: “I guess the cat’s outta the bag @lukebryan.”

SHOOTING THE BULL

MAKING YOUR POSITIONS CLEAR:
⇒ Your sleeping position can affect your health and mood in more ways than many of us realize, and there’s an ideal sleep posture to aim for each night: sleeping on your side. That’s according to Dr. Robert Hayden, a Georgia-based chiropractor and American Chiropractic Association spokesperson. He says sleeping on your side keeps your spine straight and aligned, since “it will help prevent stress points that may aggravate joints and connective tissue.” And side sleeping is crucial for those who snore or suffer from sleep apnea since it helps keep airways open, says Dr. Natalie Dautovich, environmental scholar at the National Sleep Foundation. To facilitate and maintain the side sleeping position, Dr. Hayden recommends placing a body pillow under your torso to support your upper arm and knee. (I start on my right side. After that, it’s anyone’s guess!)
⇒ A TikTok user sparked a captivating debate about which way you should stand in the shower. MsCarrotTop was commenting on another clip in which fellow Tiktoker Flynnwest claimed: “I just found out there are people who shower facing towards the shower.” In response, MsCarrotTop says: “You guys, like get in the shower and you wash your body. And then you turn around when you need to wash your hair, right?…RIGHT?” Apparently not. The video, which has had 2.3 million views, saw thousands of people take to the comments section. Some highlights:
• “Why do they always show people in movies showering this way then?”
• “Nooooo how are you washing when you’re facing the water? You wash everything then face the shower when you rinse…”
• “I pretty much spin in circles the whole time.”
• “I don’t get this either. I face where the water is coming from and turn around to wash my hair.”
• “Who the (heck) washes their body and THEN their hair?” (We’re working from home – Who the heck washes at all?)

CORPORATE DEVELOPMENTS:
➢ Amazon is opening a hair salon in London. Yes, you heard that right. The world’s largest online retailer is opening a two-story, 1,500-square-foot salon equipped with new technology, allowing customers to see themselves with different virtual hair colors, courtesy of augmented reality, and point-and-learn displays that give customers information, videos and educational content when they point to a product on a shelf. The shop will observe current COVID-19 safety protocols. But the general public will have to wait a few weeks before they can get an Amazon coif, because initially, the salon will only be open to company employees. Amazon doesn’t currently have plans to open any other locations. (Any guesses on its name? Because they’d be kind of dumb to name it anything BUT “Amazon Salon”!)
➢ Taco Bell says that soon, you’ll be able to recycle their hot sauce packets. The fast-food chain is partnering with recycling company TerraCycle to give its packets a “spicier second life that doesn’t involve a landfill, according to a press release. Currently, more than 8 billion sauce packets are used each year in the US, which is not good for the environment. Details of how the program will work weren’t released, but Taco Bell did say that the recycling program will launch this year, and that participation will be simple and involve free shipping. The ultimate goal is for discarded sauce packets have an “exciting future as something totally new.” (Trust me, plastic packets aren’t the worst effect that Taco Bell has on the environment!)

DID YOU KNOW?
Atlanta is no longer the site of the world’s busiest airport, at least for now. Seven of the world’s top 10 busiest airports in 2020 were in China, while the former world’s busiest airport — Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International — fell to #2 after 22 consecutive years in the top spot. Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in China was the world’s busiest last year, according to figures from Airports Council International. Guangzhou saw 43.8 million passengers in 2020, down 40% from 2019. Atlanta had 42.9 million passengers last year, a 61% drop from 2019. Atlanta’s fall from the top slot is expected to be temporary, according to ACI.
