BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Ethan Hawke says he’s on the final leg of his acting career. The 51-year-old “Training Day” star, in an interview with IndieWire, noted that he feels that he’s “definitely made the turn from being an old young person to being a young old person.” And he doesn’t have a problem with it. Quote: “I prefer this…the beginning of my ‘old man’ career, the beginning of my last act.” He explained that he now has an “awareness of time” regarding his Hollywood career, saying: “When I was younger, I was like, ‘I’ll do this, I’ll do that, that’ll be a good learning experience, and then I’ll try this’…Now, I’m like, ‘I didn’t learn anything from that one or that one, and that one would’ve been better spent in 3 months with my family.” Hawke’s latest project is a 6-part documentary on HBO Max, called “The Last Movie Stars” — a look at the love between and the careers of Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward.

★ “Late Night Talking” will soon turn into late-night studying for some college students. Texas State University in San Marcos is offering a class about Harry Styles beginning in the spring. The honors college course, titled “Harry Styles and the Cult of Celebrity: Identity, the Internet and European Pop Culture,” will focus on Styles’ music, plus “the cultural and political development of the modern celebrity as related to questions of gender and sexuality, race, class, nation and globalism, media, fashion, fan culture, internet culture, and consumerism,” according to the class flyer. Teacher Dr. Louie Dean Valencia says he wants “the class to get to really see how the world has changed in the last 12 years or so, but also how to put that into historical context, through the lens of Harry Styles.”

★ Hugh Jackman, has lined up a new gig: he’ll voice ‘Big Greg’ in the upcoming Hulu Original animated comedy series “Koala Man”. The comedy is about a middle-aged dad named ‘Kevin’ and his not-so-secret identity, whose only superpower is a burning passion for following rules and snuffing out petty crime in the Australian town of Dapto. He’ll do whatever it takes to defeat villainous masterminds, supernatural horrors, or worse: jerks who don’t put their garbage bins out on the proper days. Jackman, who’s currently headlining “The Music Man” on Broadway, will play the most well-liked man in Dapto and the head of the Town Council. No airdate has been set.
★ Kylie Jenner came under fire this week for posting about her private jet. She shared a pic of herself and boyfriend Travis Scott hugging between 2 planes, with the caption: “You wanna take mine or yours?” That led critics to dig deeper into Jenner’s flight habits, and now many are condemning her along with other wealthy travelers. Her private jet, named “Kylie Air” is decked out with luxuries and amenities, and according to a report, planes like these create 5-14 times more pollution than commercial planes. In the current economic climate, many followers thought it was tasteless for Jenner to brag about her jet. And with the environmental crisis worsening, many also thought it was horrifying to see her using a plane for her own convenience. And the Twitter account Celeb Jets looked into her flight history, and found that many of her flights are around 15 minutes long, and one recent flight was just 3 minutes long, covering a distance that would have taken 40 minutes by car.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• The Chainsmokers – have booked a gig in space. They’ve signed on to get into a pressurized capsule tethered to a stratospheric balloon in 2024, and perform 20 miles above the Earth. It will make Drew Taggart and Alex Pall the first musical artists to perform at the edge of space, according to fledgling space tourism company World View.
• Justin Bieber — will resume his “Justice” world tour on July 31, after his diagnosis of Ramsay Hunt syndrome forced him to postpone a number of North American dates last month. His tour, which has 75 scheduled dates, will resume at the Lucca Summer Festival in Italy. No word yet on possible rescheduled North American dates.
• Elton John – says women are making the best music these days. Known for keeping his finger on the pulse of current artists, he said: “It’s so great to see Nova Twins, Wet Leg, Let’s Eat Grandma, The Linda Lindas, Haim, and all these girls rocking out and making the best music…It’s a breath of fresh air, because it comes from innocence and pure joy and that, for me, is what music is about.”
• Scorpions – 74-year-old singer Klaus Meine doesn’t see the band retiring any time soon. When asked about the possibility of packing it in, he told a music journalist: “We played almost 30 shows now this year after 2 years break because of the pandemic…it looks like there’s plenty of gas in the tank. It feels good.” The group announced a farewell in 2010 that never quite took hold.
• Queen — Brian May and Roger Taylor say that they are “humbled and honored” to have made history as Queen has become the first artist to have an album pass the 7 million ‘sales’ mark in the UK. The group’s 1981 “Greatest Hits” collection has spent over 1000 weeks on the UK charts, and has now edged pass 7 million ‘sales’, through a combination of physical sales, downloads and streams.
• Miranda Lambert – has dropped the new single ‘Strange’, the second from her latest album “Palomino”. She calls the song “permission to just let go for a sec.” Her goal was for the chorus to “lift – literally and emotionally – and go into a happy place”. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/45j4pey9
• Little Big Town – have announced their next album “Mr. Sun”, will come out Sept. 16. It will include previously-released song like the group’s current single ‘Hell Yeah’, and ‘All Summer’. • Keith Urban — fans in Cincinnati got a big surprise during his set there on Sat. Rising star Breland hopped onstage with Urban for the first-ever live performance of ‘Out the Cage’, a tune they wrote and recorded together. More than 7 in 10 (73%) of us want to increase their physical activity to keep up with their children. A recent study polled 2,000 U.S. adults to see how they’re staying active as their routines and lifestyles have undergone drastic change over the past 2 years. Only about half of respondents (51%) said they can touch their toes without straining. The good news is that people are looking to change their habits, with 70% making more of an effort to be physically active now than at the start of the pandemic. Conducted by OnePoll, the survey found that 42% struggle to stay physically active during the day. Lack of motivation (39%), and injuries (30%) are among the hurdles at the top of the list. However, the biggest obstacle is joint pain and arthritis (42%). The average person reports taking only 3,800 steps per day, roughly one-third of the recommended 10,000.
(Obviously some people don’t have children that require us to chase them all over the house ALL DAY LONG, like some of us!)

➢ Multitaskers everywhere can rejoice, because YouTube is going to allow you to do other things on your phone while still watching videos. We’ve all had that moment where we’re trying to watch a video while attempting to text at the same time. The problem is…when one door, opens, another does not. Those days are officially over, thanks to the new picture-in-picture mode that will allow users to watch videos in a floating window while performing other activities on the iPhone or iPad. YouTube made the announcement on Twitter, saying the feature is “slowly rolling out for YouTube on iPhone & iPad”, and just like on Android, it will be available to premium members worldwide and non-premium users in the US for non-music related videos. (Your move, Insta!)
➢ A new patent shows that Apple has been working on adding lasers to a future iPhone, and to Apple Watch. What for? Well, it’s not a new personal weaponry system, but it’s pretty exciting and could add some extraordinary features to your electronics. Horizontal Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers could be used for functions such as biometrics, refining the capabilities of Face ID or Touch ID, and perhaps leading to the return of Touch ID to future iPhones. But they could also be used for the detection of particulate matter, enabling your device to report air quality, when used “in combination with a photodetector,” according to the patent. It is also possible the laser system could be used with fitness apps to help pursue wellness goals, and in conjunction with a device’s camera or gaming apps. (Real lasers in video games? And you thought those birds were angry BEFORE!)

For the second year in a row, an eatery in the Danish capital of Copenhagen named the best on the planet at the World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards. “Geranium” serves a meat-free, seasonally based Scandi menu in the unusual environs of the 8th floor of Denmark’s national soccer stadium. It’s open just 4 days a week, a choice made by head chef Rasmus Kofoed and co-owner Søren Ledet in order to maintain a work-life balance. According to TheWorlds50Best.com , Kofoed “has an intuitive ability to put together truly stunning dishes that make the most of colour, empty space and accurate volume of ingredients, creating synergy between flavour, aestheticism and a sense of flow that runs throughout the menu.” Geranium’s Copenhagen neighbor Noma was last year’s winner. A Canadian couple, both 100 years old, celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary last week. Lifelong love birds Charlie and Annie Muise celebrated with a party at their daughter’s place, then returned home to the house they bought together 75 years ago — for $2,000 — in Yarmouth County, near the southern tip of Nova Scotia. The couple were wed on July 13, 1942. (To put that in perspective, that’s the same day Harrison Ford was BORN!)
