BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Britney Spears called out her sister Jamie Lynn Spears, her father Jamie and her online critics in an Instagram post Saturday night. She hit out at her sister for performing remixes of her songs, her father for micromanaging her life during the 13-year-long conservatorship, and Instagram commenters who have criticized the videos she often posts showing her dancing in her home. She wrote: “For those of you who choose to criticize my dancing videos … I’m not gonna be performing on any stages anytime soon with my dad handling what I wear, say, do, or think…I’ve done that for the past 13 years. I’d much rather share videos…from my living room instead of onstage in Vegas.” At one point in the lengthy post, she wrote: “I quit”, followed by 3 exclamation points. It’s unclear whether that signals that she is definitely quitting the music industry, or whether she’s referring to her decision not to do a second residency in Vegas in 2019.

★ Shonda Rhimes shocked everyone when she decided to leave ABC and take her talents over to Netflix in 2017. After being there almost a year, she’s getting a hefty raise as part of a new contract. When she joined Netflix, she inked a deal that would pay her between $100 and $150 million. Now, she has been pushed into the $300 -$400 million range. “Bridgerton” was the first show that Rhimes brought to the streaming service — and it is now one of their most successful shows ever. Rhimes said she left ABC for Netflix so she could create content without being “bothered.”

★ Jenna Fischer is opening up about the job she didn’t get because of her time on “The Office”. In the latest episode of her “Office Ladies” podcast, she said that she was fired after shooting a pilot for “Man with a Plan” because test audiences closely associated herself and Matt LeBlanc with their respective characters on “The Office” and “Friends” and didn’t “believe Pam would marry Joey.” According to Fischer, she learned that the show was moving on without her just days before she was set to go to New York for upfronts.
-Yahoo
★ Paramount+ has given a formal green light to “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies”, a prequel series to the classic 1978 film. It’s set 4 years before the original Grease. The official description says: “Before rock ‘n’ roll ruled, before the T-Birds were the coolest in the school, 4 fed-up, outcast girls dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever.” Here’s the thing, though:  While that could be interpreted as referring to the 4 Pink Ladies from the movie, ‘Rizzo’, ‘Frenchy’, ‘Marty’, and ‘Jan’, the spinoff series will actually feature new characters.

However, in an interview early this year, Andy Cohen asked what remains on his bucket list. His answer: “[Having a] wife and kids. That would complete all of it.”
• Journey – Their classic 7th studio album “Escape” has been certified diamond by the RIAA, for sales of over 10 million equivalent units in the US. SHOOTING THE BULL

K.D. ICE CREAM:
It turns out that the idea of combining Mac and Cheese with ice cream might be a GOOD one – judging by the online response after Kraft foods and Van Leeuwen Ice Cream did just that on “National Mac and Cheese Day” on Wednesday. The 2 companies joined forces to create a limited-edition mac and cheese ice cream flavor, and the demand was so great for the dessert debut, the website crashed within 9 minutes, and the entire 2,000-pint inventory was wiped out online within an hour. In addition to online sales, they sold the…umm…interesting food mash-up in Van Leeuwen’s brick-and-mortar shops in the US. Well, for a little while, anyway. It took only 3 hours to sell out of their 9,000 scoops. If you missed out, don’t worry: Kraft has launched an online sweepstakes with the chance to win 2 free pints.
(That just doesn’t sound very good. Especially once you add ketchup!)
(Now if they could only make a pasta that tastes like ice cream…)
(It can’t be worse than that vegemite ice cream that came out a few years ago…)
-TMZ, Kraft

EMOJIS IN MOTION:
(***CAUTION***some content***) Millennials and Gen Zers DON’T think the “laughing” emoji is cool anymore, but a majority of texters disagree, according to a new study. Software maker Adobe released the findings from its 2021 Global Emoji Trend Report in time for World Emoji Day on Saturday (July 17). It revealed that the “laugh out loud” face is the world’s most popular emoji, followed by “thumbs up” in second place, and the “red heart” emoji in third. The flirtatious “wink and kiss” and “sad face with a tear” emojis rounded out the top five. Of course, TikTok users have had it out over the “laugh out loud” emoji, which Gen Zers seem to feel is cliché and uncool. The Emoji Trend report also examined the 3 most misunderstood emojis. The “eggplant” symbol edged out the “peach” and the “clown” emojis as the most confusing for users.
(I find nothing confusing about the “clown” emoji. I just think that there is no reason for someone to use it while I’m chatting with them on Match.com…)
(Misunderstood? Were you ever going to text someone about an ‘actual’ eggplant? Ever?)
(I like the red skull “I’m dead” emoji better than the “laughing” one anyway. Mostly because it also looks like a guy straining on the toilet…)

GIVE THIS WOMAN A PLAQUE:
Mouthwash has long been the go-to, sure fire — and minty – method of taking care of any germs not handled by your toothbrush. But a TikToker, who is also a dentist, is going viral for telling people NOT to use mouthwash after brushing. In a clip with over 2.1 million views, London-based dentist Anna Peterson says “Using mouthwash after brushing your teeth is going to give you tooth decay.” In a second video, she explains that toothpaste has about 145ppm fluoride, which, she says, is the ideal concentration to protect your teeth against the sugars in the food and drink you consume. But she points out, “mouthwash has only 220ppm fluoride,” which is not enough to prevent cavities. As a result, by using mouthwash after brushing, you effectively just “rinse off all the high-concentration fluoride” and increase your chances of tooth decay.
(Who uses mouthwash AFTER they brush? I use it INSTEAD of brushing!)
(It’s also not a good idea to use mouthwash after eating an orange. And I’m not even a dentist!)

DID YOU KNOW?
A St. Catharines ON woman was excited about being able to buy a coffin from Facebook Marketplace to use as a planter in her backyard. And she was so happy with it she bought a second one, this time for her front yard. Christine Calbury says that when she saw the casket listed for $200, she decided to scare up the funds and go for it. While reaction has been largely positive, with some people even stopping to take photos, she received a letter from the city, claiming she was violating a municipal bylaw. It has since backed down “and no further action will be taken.” (Sounds like a cover up…)
