BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Jennifer Grey has teased “a few other characters” will be returning for the “Dirty Dancing” sequel, though she didn’t confirm who. The 62-year-old actress will reprise her role as ‘Frances “Baby” Houseman’ in the long-awaited follow-up to the 1987 classic movie and hers won’t be the only familiar face. According to her, “It’s happening”, with filming set to begin in spring. Grey said that in the sequel: “Baby is quite a few years older. You will see a few other characters from the original. It’s tricky and also exciting.” She also confirmed that the new movie will share the same setting as the original. Grey, who will also executive produce the sequel, previously confirmed the late Patrick Swayze’s role as ‘Johnny Castle’ won’t be recast — but director Jonathan Levine has teased that Johnny will still be “a part” of the plot.

★ The Thanksgiving box office brought some good and some bad for Disney. While Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” continued to perform strongly with an estimated 5-day total of $65 million, the Disney Animation newcomer “Strange World” is turning out to be one of the biggest bombs in the history of the studio. Projected for an already poor 5-day opening of $30 million, “Strange World” will now be lucky to even hit $20 million for the extended period after making just $11.2 million between Wednesday and Friday. With a reported budget of $120-130 million, the film’s performance is drawing comparisons to Disney’s infamous 2002 bomb “Treasure Planet,” which earned just $16.6 million during its Thanksgiving opening and went on to make just $110 million against its $140 million budget, before inflation.

★ A familiar face was missing from this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Al Roker, who has covered the iconic parade for “Today” for 27 years, was not at this year’s event because he’s recovering from blood clots in his leg and lungs that sent him to the hospital earlier this month. During NBC’s broadcast on Thursday, his co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie sent Roker well wishes. Meanwhile, the “Today” meteorologist celebrated his “version of the Thanksgiving Day Parade” by leaving the hospital. He shared on Instagram that he would be “home for thanksgiving dinner”, and later wrote that he was able to “catch some of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.”

★ Jennifer Lopez is back. She took to Instagram Friday with a video announcing her upcoming album “This Is Me… Now”, a follow-up to her 3rd album, “This Is Me… Then.” This came a few days after her social media accounts had been wiped, spurring rumors of a major announcement. In the clip, she poses as she did in the 2002 album cover, wearing a white sheer dress and a beanie. Sitting down, she says: “This is me then”, and the video transitions into her new album cover, where she’s wearing a black leather jacket, white bustier and black leather pants, and says: “This is me now,” as the camera reveals her toned body. • Irene Cara – has died at the age of 63. Her publicist said she died at home in Miami, and the cause is “currently unknown”.
• Ringo Starr – is selling limited-edition life-size replicas of his hand. The figures, which are signed, depict his signature “peace” symbol, and bear the words “Peace & Love”. The bronze edition is $2,000, the stainless-steel version is $5,000, and only 250 of each is available.
• Guns N’ Roses — Axl Rose is asking drone pilots to stop interfering with the group’s performances, following recent experiences on tour in Australia. He tweeted: “obviously someone thought it was just ok coming that close in front of the stage, and then actually over and on stage.” He called it “distracting” and said that drones are being used to bootleg their shows. It’s no wonder we look forward to the holidays with so much anticipation. With them come a number of special moments that we just don’t get to enjoy at other times of the year. Among them, the chance to get together with loved ones, beautiful decorations and music to celebrate the season, gifts…and food, of course! According to a survey, cinnamon is the top holiday-season flavor. The OnePoll survey of Americans found that both kids and adults named cinnamon as the top taste to evoke feelings of holiday nostalgia and comfort, with 58% of respondents putting it at the top of their list. Cinnamon was followed by pumpkin (54%), peppermint (52%), cocoa (47%), and nutmeg (39%). When it comes to the most cherished holiday traditions, decorating the Christmas tree came out on top (43%). Second was seeing friends and family (40%), followed by decorating the home (29%), watching holiday movies (26%), and eating holiday meals (25%).

ELON UPDATE:
➠ Twitter CEO Elon Musk said in a tweet that Twitter will launch its delayed “Verified” service this week, with different colored checks depending on the type of account. The plan is for there to be a “gold check” for companies, a grey check for government accounts, and the existing blue one is for individuals, whether they are celebs or not. This comes after he was forced to pause the $8 per month “Twitter Blue” service, which allowed anyone to pay the subscription for the blue verification tick, after users abused the system by impersonating brands and famous people. ➠ Elon Musk has a plan if Apple decides to boot Twitter from the App Store. He’ll simply create his own smartphone. Musk wrote in a Friday tweet he would “make an alternative phone” to compete with Apple’s iPhone if the tech giant ends up blocking Twitter from its powerful App Store. Musk’s comments come after Phil Schiller, an Apple exec who’s responsible for leading the App Store, deleted his Twitter account, and Yoel Roth, former head of trust and safety at Twitter, said in a New York Times column that the social media giant risks being expelled from Apple and Google’s app stores if they fail to adhere to guidelines, with regards to content moderation. ➢ A man who unearthed a platinum and diamond ring worth $40,000 buried on a beach in Florida has returned it safely to its owners. Joseph Cook found the ring while using his metal detector at Hammock Beach in St Augustine. He immediately posted the video of him unearthing it to his social media channels and called local jewelry stores looking for people who may have lost rings. He says he ended up facetiming with a couple from Jacksonville, who had lost a similar ring, when the wife “said, ‘oh my god I can’t believe it’, and then she just started crying.” Joseph met up with the ring’s owners and returned the piece, making him feel “really good” He figures he has now returned $60,000 worth of found items to their owners this year…and he plans to keep looking. After all, “Karma’s always good, every time I return an item, I find something better.”
➢ Japan cleaned up on and off the field at the World Cup in Qatar on Wednesday. After its national team delivered a thrilling 2-1 upset victory over Germany, Japanese fans continued a tradition by staying to clean up all the trash at Khalifa International Stadium before leaving to celebrate the win. They were applauded for their thoughtfulness as they could be seen roaming the seats with garbage bags to pick up all the garbage accumulated during the match. Numerous videos showing the considerate gesture were posted to social media, including one from soccer’s governing body, FIFA, with the caption: “Tidying up after one of their greatest #FIFAWorldCup wins. Word experts say using them makes you sound ‘insecure’ and ‘arrogant’…
✗ “I don’t mean to brag, but …”: This automatically signals that you are about to, yes, brag, which turns listeners off. (No one wants to hear about your collection of celebrity fingernail clippings, anyway…)
✗ “I already knew that …”: You might think it makes you sound knowledgeable, but it actually sounds dismissive. Try “thanks.” (Also bad: “You have an incredible grasp of the obvious…”)
✗ “I’m pretty sure that …”: Especially if you’re not sure. Be confident enough to say that you don’t know something. That makes others feel OK to explain things to you.
✗ “No offense, but ….”: This immediately indicates you’re probably about to offend someone. Textbook passive-aggressive behavior.
✗ Overusing “I” (or “me): Makes you sound self-centered or narcissistic. Try inclusive words like “we” and “our team.” (Unless you’re being self-deprecating. Then, stick to “me”!)
✗ “I’m just kidding!”: It’s better to simply not say something that has to be laughed off in the first place. (Saying “Kidding, not kidding” doesn’t really work here, either!)
✗ “You probably don’t know this, but …”: Practically guaranteed to irritate the listener. It is dismissive of the other person’s knowledge or capabilities. (You probably didn’t know that, did you?)

✗ “You just don’t get it”: Narcissists rarely admit that their ideas might not be the right thing to do, and this kind of statement can make people suspect you’re one.
