★ Lindsay Lohan is getting married. She has announced her engagement to Bader Shamma. Lohan posted a series of photos, showing off her new engagement ring on Instagram, with the words: “My love. My life. My family. My future.” Shammas is the Assistant Vice President at Credit Suisse in Dubai, where Lohan has called home for the last 7 years. The couple has been dating for 2 years. ★ Ryan Reynolds is speaking up about the devastation of recent flooding in his home province of British Columbia. In posts to his Twitter and Facebook accounts, the Vancouver-born star said he and his wife, Blake Lively, have donated to the Canadian Red Cross’s B.C. flood relief fundraiser, and invited others to do the same, writing: “My home Province of BC continues to face a crisis from the brutal #BCFloods. Homes, farms, schools, roads and vulnerable communities.” The catastrophic atmospheric river that struck B.C. on Nov. 14 and 15 has killed 5 people and forced thousands from their homes.

★ Jon Gosselin was hospitalized after getting bitten by a spider while asleep. Last week, the former “Jon & Kate Plus 8” star revealed the “excruciating pain” he was in after being bit by a brown recluse spider at home in Reading, Pennsylvania. He says that the doctor told him it was a good thing he took himself to hospital, “because if you don’t treat this you can lose limbs or die from a bacterial infection.” Fortunately, the former reality star is on the mend after taking antibiotics and using a topical cream.

★ Jimmy Kimmel still had a Thanksgiving turkey despite his oven mishap. He joked on Instagram about accidentally burning his “hair and eyebrow off” while getting his oven fired up to prepare the holiday meal. In the caption of a photo documenting the aftermath, he wrote: “Happy thanksgiving everyone. try not to burn your hair and eyebrow off lighting the oven!” Kimmel’s oldest child, daughter Katie, commented, writing, “Again?????” Kimmel replied to his daughter: “Yep. It’s now a holiday tradition.”

• Chance the Rapper – His collaboration with legendary singer and Twitter superstar Dionne Warwick has arrived. ‘Nothing’s Impossible’, will benefit 2 Chicago charities. • Madonna — called out Instagram for “censorship” and “sexism” for removing a series of photos of herself in fishnets and lingerie, because of the appearance of an exposed nipple. She wrote: “It is still astounding to me that we live in a culture that allows every inch of a woman’s body to be shown except a nipple.” Madonna later reported the pics with a heart emoji over the body part in question.
• Bob Dylan – The most comprehensive exhibition of his visual art to be held in the U.S. goes on display tomorrow in Miami. Forty new pieces by the 80-year-old will be showcased for the first time, plus sketches he made in the 60s of songs such as ‘Highway 61 Revisited’ and ‘Like a Rolling Stone’. The pieces, loaned from private collections around the world, cover 6 large rooms.
• Midnight Oil — have announced that their upcoming tour in support of the new album “Resist” will be their last. • Mitchell Tenpenny and Meghan Patrick – are engaged! Wednesday night, Tenpenny popped the question to his long-time girlfriend at a popular country bar in Nashville. While “Losers Bar & Grill” might not seem like the ideal place to ask the love of your life to marry you, Tenpenny picked the location because it is where the two met 4 years ago.
• Blake Shelton – says in his house, he and the boys have a tradition of deciding on a “weird turkey” to make. Quote: “The first year, we made a Flamin’ Hot Cheetos turkey. We crusted it in the Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.” Since then, they have made a Funyuns turkey, and this year the plan was to make a bacon-wrapped Thanksgiving bird.
• Kentucky Headhunters — After 30 years, they will finally make their Grand Ole Opry debut this Saturday. Last month, the band, which had a hit album with “Pickin’ on Nashville” in 1989, released their first album of all-new material in half a decade, “That’s A Fact Jack!”.

LYIN’ EYES…AND CHEEKS:
A team of Israeli researchers says they’ve come up with the best method yet of telling if someone is lying. Using stickers containing electrodes that measure the activity of muscles and nerves, the Tel Aviv University scientists discovered that some people involuntarily activate muscles in their cheeks and eyebrows when they lie. Before this, no sensors had been able to measure these subtle muscle contractions. Tests show a 73% success rate in lie identification, better than any existing technology. Now, the researchers are working on doing away with the electrodes and detecting the subtle muscle contractions simply by analyzing high-resolution camera footage.
(But if people can’t lie on camera, we’ll never be able to watch another political debate!)
(I’m sorry to have to tell these guys, but there’s already a lie-detection technology with a better than 73% success rate. But I’m not willing to part with her!)

PLEXIGLASS COMPLEXITIES:
As one of the health measures put in place in the face of the pandemic, we’ve all seen more plexiglass in the past 20 months than we thought we’d see in a lifetime. But now, a top advisor on the Ontario COVID-10 Science Advisory Table is saying the dividers may be ineffective — and even counterproductive in many instances. The change comes as researchers have become aware that the virus spreads through aerosols, rather than droplets, and have learned that fixed barriers in public places can inhibit ventilation that is designed to promote better air flow. Dr. Peter Jüni, professor of medicine and epidemiology at University of Toronto, and scientific director of Ontario’s COVID-19 Science Advisory Table, says the plexiglass barriers often seen in places like schools and restaurants can also give people a “wrong sense of security.” However, before you pull all your investments in plexiglass companies and start picketing to have the partitions removed, experts still generally agree that they are effective in reducing transmission of the coronavirus in direct, face-to-face service environments where there is potential for close contact, such as in a store between the cashier and the customer.
(And above the buffet table…let’s not forget that!)

➢A man in Missouri who was exonerated after spending the past 43 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit has become a millionaire. A GoFundMe campaign was set up for 62-year-old Kevin Strickland after it was revealed that the state will not be providing him financial assistance. That’s despite the fact that he endured the 7th longest wrongful acknowledged imprisonment in US history. Missouri only compensates prisoners exonerated through DNA evidence, not due to eyewitness testimony. But the GoFundMe set up by the Midwest Innocence Project has already raised over $1.5 million, surpassing its $1,200,000 goal. (Imagine the legal team you could hire with that kind of money!) ➢ Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson invited fans to a special screening of his Netflix film “Red Notice” and wanted to make the day extra special for them, so, he decided to give away his favorite custom truck. The Rock was especially moved by one fan named Oscar’s story: he was a navy veteran, personal trainer, church leader, and volunteer at a domestic violence center. Johnson invited Oscar on stage, thanked him for what he did for the community, then took him outside to surprise him with his new truck. Oscar’s reaction? ☞ Waving at someone who was actually waving at someone else: Too late, you realize the wave was meant for the person behind you. So, what do you do? Really, there’s no good recovery. (Except avoiding eye contact…)
☞ Pretending not to see someone you don’t like: Sorry, but they definitely saw you trying to make like you didn’t see them. (I think I’m on the receiving end of this one more often than I’d like to admit!)
☞ Accidentally liking a crush’s photo: Aaaaand BOOM! it’s too late to undo it.
☞ Googling yourself: Everyone is interested in what the internet has to say about ourselves. (It’s when you’re busted that you REALLY feel embarrassed – or when you’re Anthony Weiner!)
☞ Talking to your pet like it’s a person: That blank stare? That means he’s just waiting for you to feed him. (No shame here…if it’s a dog. But don’t be one of those weirdos who thinks their CAT can understand them!)
☞ Running water in the bathroom for extra privacy: It’s only slightly embarrassing because the people who hear running water know exactly what you’re doing. (Or lighting a match. What? Just me?)
☞ Having your own private mini-concert in the car: Your favorite jam comes on, and you don’t just sing along. You play the drums, the bass, keys and all the solos. Then you look around you… (I see no problem with this one!)

DID YOU KNOW?
New homes in England will be required by law to install electric vehicle charging points beginning next year. The government says the move will see up to 145,000 charging points installed across the country each year. The law will also apply to new-build supermarkets, workplaces and buildings undergoing major renovations. The move comes as the UK aims to switch to electric cars, with new gasoline and diesel cars sales banned beginning in 2030.
