BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Fans watching the new trailer for “Spider-Man: No Way Home” have been left feeling confused after seeing no sign of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. The new trailer dropped Tuesday, premiering at a fan event in Los Angeles, and was later released online to A LOT of hype. But while it made many people excited for the movie, which is set to hit theaters Dec.17, some couldn’t help but notice something — or a few someONES — were missing. Over the past months, growing speculation and supposed photo leaks seemed to suggest that the new film would see Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker from “Spider-Man” and Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker from “The Amazing Spider-Man” team up for the first time ever. Some are speculating that the duo will be in the film, but have simply been left out of the trailer as a bluff. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/jzzysafe

★ The original Hogwarts wizarding trio are reuniting to recount their adventures from 2 decades ago. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson will join filmmaker Chris Columbus and other cast members from all 8 “Harry Potter” films in an HBO Max retrospective special to celebrate the franchise’s first film, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”. “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts” will premiere on HBO Max on New Year’s Day. HBO says it will “tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new, in-depth interviews and cast conversations.”

★ Derek Hough has tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19. The “Dancing with the Stars” judge revealed the news in an Instagram video, saying: “Even though I’ve been fully vaccinated, I’ve just been diagnosed with a breakthrough case of COVID.” He said that he feels “strong” and is taking advice from medical professionals to get better as quickly as possible. Hough didn’t share his plans for next week’s DWTS season 30 finale, but did note in his caption that his Las Vegas shows this week will be rescheduled.

★ Gal Gadot’s secret weapon to eating healthy – is mac and cheese. She and her husband have announced the release of “GOODLES”, a mac and cheese brand that they say is as easy as traditional boxed pasta but is nutrient-rich and protein-packed. BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Drake — To celebrate the 10th anniversary of his “Take Care” album, he’s letting fans take virtual tours of his home in Toronto’s exclusive Bridle Path neighborhood. It starts outside, where fans can get a good look at the exterior and the luxury cars lined up. It then proceeds through the 50,000 square foot house from top to bottom. And, yes, it IS a springboard to sell merch. LINK:  https://drakerelated.com/#front
• Travis Scott — Nike has postponed the release its collaboration with him, the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack sneaker. This comes on the heels of the Astroworld tragedy claiming its 10th victim, 9-year-old Ezra Blount, who died from his injuries on Sunday.
• Abba — look set to enter the race for this year’s Christmas #1 in the UK with their first-ever festive song. They’ve announced the physical release of the Yuletide track ‘Little Things’, set to come out on CD December 3.
• Alan Doyle – will star in a new musical comedy which will premiere at the 2022 Charlottetown Festival. “Tell Tale Harbour”, which he co-wrote, will tell the story of a struggling fishing village in Atlantic Canada, whose residents come together to bring a frozen fry factory to town.
• The Beatles – Filmmaker Peter Jackson spent years creating the 6-hour epic doc “The Beatles: Get Back” from footage captured by Michael Lindsay-Hogg for his 1970 “Let It Be film”, then realized he’d have to persuade Disney bosses to drop their ‘no expletives’ rule. Apparently, he succeeded. The Beatles: Get Back will be available to stream on Disney+ beginning November 25.
• Blake Shelton – isn’t denying rumors that he’ll do a Vegas residency. He told People that he has always wanted to do a show like Garth Brooks’ 2009-2014 residency at The Wynn Las Vegas, which consisted of just Brooks and his guitar playing hits and favorites. Shelton said there’s “definitely” a good chance of him doing something like that in the future.
• Jesse Frasure — was named songwriter of the year at Monday’s BMI Country Awards, marking his second time receiving the honor (he also won in 2018). Frasure co-wrote 5 of the year’s most-performed songs, including ‘Almost Maybes’, ‘Hole in the Bottle’, ‘One Big Country Song’, ‘One Thing Right’ and ‘What’s Your Country Song’.
• Dolly Parton – The latest artist to put their own spin on her iconic 1973 hit ‘Jolene’, one of the most covered songs in music history, is DJ Destructo. When she heard his remix, Parton said: “I think this one is my favorite! It makes me want to dance!” LINK: https://youtu.be/Cpx4ilgZrd8

SHOOTING THE BULL

DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR?
It’s “the most wonderful time of the year” – at least for people who love that song…and all the other songs that make the holiday season so…wonderful. But while Christmas music may evoke positive emotions and add to the joy of the season for many, that’s definitely not the case for everyone. In fact, a Consumer Report survey found that 23% of people dread seasonal music — just 1% less than dread  seeing certain relatives.” Why? Clinical psychologist Linda Blair says: “For a lot of people, hearing Christmas music makes them feel pressured. Maybe it’s, ‘I have to buy presents, but I don’t have the money’…or, ‘I really don’t want to see my mother-in-law.’ It triggers ‘shoulds,’ which are always things we’re trying to do to please others…rather than an intrinsic desire.” So, for some, the sound of seasonal music triggers feelings of things you need to do, or things you’ve lost, which makes them feel bad. On the other hand, Blair says some people have an entirely different reason for hating Christmas music: the simple repetition of these songs can irritate people. She says she feels especially sorry for those who work in stores around the holidays, because “it’s loud, and the playlist is short.”
(After reading this, I’m just glad to see that I’m not the only person who has spoken to a clinical psychologist about Christmas music!)
(It’s not so much that I don’t like Christmas music, it’s just…well…IT’S JUST THAT FREAKING MARIAH CAREY SONG!!!)
(For me, the only difference between a beer and a Christmas song is that it takes more than one beer to make me sick!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY – ALSO DEATHDAY:
Researchers in Switzerland say your birthday is the one day of the year when you are most likely to die. A team from the University of Zurich had the morbid task of tracking 2.5 million deaths in Switzerland between 1969-2008. What they found is people are at increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and suicide on their birthdays, making birthdays statistically the deadliest day of the year. Specifically, they determined that people over the age of 60 are 14% more likely to die on their birthdays, and unsurprisingly, their risk of ‘death by fall’ jumped 44% on their birthday. Famous people who died on their birthdays include William Shakespeare (52), gangster Machine Gun Kelly (George Barnes — 59), and country singer Merle Haggard (79).
(Could someone please look after Margaret Atwood today?)
(I’m not sure about the stats, but I do know my ex almost killed me for the way I carried on at my 30th birthday party!)

DUE DATES:
You know how it is: Deadlines on projects and presentations at the office add an extra layer of stress to your already busy life. Then, when life gets in the way of your job, sometimes there’s no other option than to ask for some extra time to finish a task. Acccording to a study by a team at Ohio State University, women are less likely to ask for a deadline extension than male colleagues. Researchers found that women are more concerned that they would be “burdening others” by asking for an extension, and that people would view them as incompetent. The problem is that women who don’t feel comfortable asking their supervisor for extra time may suffer emotionally and professionally. They study determined that not asking for more time to complete tasks undermines women’s well-being and also their performance. Previous research has showed that women reported feeling more pressed for time and were more likely to experience burnout than their male counterparts.
(Of COURSE women are more pressed for time! They keep meeting deadlines and stuff!)
(On the other hand, when I tell my wife that I haven’t been able to get to a project at home, she calls it “stalling”!)
(I was going to ask for an extension, but I kept putting it off!)

DID YOU KNOW?
The practice of playing music for callers on hold began with a faulty phone line connection. A loose wire touching the steel frame of an office building caused it to act as a giant radio receiver, allowing callers to hear music from the radio station next door while they waited on hold.
