BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Bam Margera got a ride to a Florida rehab facility on Sunday — in the back of a police car. Deputies took the “Jackass” star to rehab after responding to an early morning call about an emotionally distressed person at the Don CeSar Resort Hotel in St. Pete Beach. They were given the heads up about a court order directing Margara to go to rehab, so police assisted. He was NOT arrested and he doesn’t have any pending charges. Margara is no stranger to rehab — and his life has been pretty turbulent lately, with his wife recently asking for custody of their 3-year-old son, Phoenix Wolf.

★ When “Saturday Night Live” debuts its 47th season this weekend, it will be down a couple of familiar faces — but will also be adding some new kids to the crew. Beck Bennett and Lauren Holt have exited, and Aristotle Athari, James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman have been added as featured players. Whether Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon and Cecily Strong would be returning had been an ongoing conversation over the past few months, and NBC has finally put an end to those questions. SNL Season 47 premieres on Saturday with host Owen Wilson and musical guest Kacey Musgraves.

★ Netflix has renewed “Sex/Life” for a second season. Little wonder, because the streamer also has announced that the first season of the steamy drama was watched by 67 million households in the first 4 weeks after its May 25 release. Set to return for Season 2 are Sex/Life‘s series regulars, Sarah Shahi, Mike Vogel, Adam Demos and Margaret Odette. Production will again take place in Toronto.

★ Stanley Tucci has been cast as record producer Clive Davis in the upcoming Whitney Houston biopic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”. Davis was the Grammy-winning producer who acted as a mentor to the late music superstar after spotting her talent. Naomi Ackie will portray Houston in the film, set for release in December 2022.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Demi Lovato — is getting extra — terrestrial, that is. In her new unscripted Peacock series “Unidentified”, the singer, actor, and activist embarks on an adventure that takes them to UFO hot spots and out-of-this-world realizations. The docuseries premieres Sept. 30th.
• The Weeknd – He and Angelina Jolie have further fueled rumors of a romance by heading out on another dinner date together in Santa Monica. While neither has commented on the reports, Saturday night was the 3rd time they’ve been seen together.
• Shawn Mendes – His 2022 “Wonder” world tour will span 65 shows in 21 countries, with the opening date at Copenhagen’s Royal Arena on March 14, and a final show at Newark, NJ’s Prudential Center on Oct. 26. King Princess and Tate McRae have been announced as supporting acts in Europe and Irish singer Dermot Kennedy in North America.
• Celine Dion — “Aline,” the fictionalized biopic inspired by her life, will hit theaters in the US early next year. The film flashes back to 1960s Quebec when Celine, er, Aline’s parents are welcoming their 14th child and Aline is discovered by a producer for her golden voice and sets off on a journey to become a star. It made waves at the Cannes Film Festival for its campy approach in telling her story.
• Ramones — The guitar played by Johnny Ramone on all 15 of their albums and at nearly 2,000 live shows sold at auction over the weekend for more than $900,000. It was played at every Ramones performance from November 1977 until his retirement in August 1996. He died in 2004.
• David Byrne — was honored with a Special Tony Award at the 74th Annual ceremony on Sunday. The former Talking Heads frontman accepted the prize for his Broadway production “American Utopia”, which shares a name with his 2018 solo album.
• David Lee Roth — will return to Vegas for a run of shows at the House of Blues starting on New Year’s Eve. After ushering in 2022, he’ll do 4 more shows on Jan. 1, 5, 7 and 8. He started a residency there in January 2020, completing only 3 of 9 scheduled shows before postponing things due to the pandemic.
• Maren Morris – Judging by her social media posts, it appears she’s preparing to release a new full-length project — the follow-up to “GIRL”, her gold-selling, CMA Album of the Year for 2019. She wrote that it is the “end” of the Girl era, and now plans to rest and recalibrate so she can “give birth to what I’ve been toiling away at for the past 2 years.”
• Jennifer Nettles — is headed back to the Broadway stage. She’ll play ‘Jenna’, the lead role in “Waitress” beginning on Oct. 19th. Though new to Waitress, she is not new to the Broadway scene. In 2015, she starred in “Chicago” as ‘Roxie Hart’.
• Jason Aldean – When he releases his new album “Macon” on Nov. 12, it’ll be only half of the new music fans can expect over the coming months. Macon will contain 15 songs: 10 new ones, including his recent single with Carrie Underwood ‘If I Didn’t Love You’, and 5 live cuts. “Georgia”, out on April 22, will contain 10 more new songs, and 5 live cuts.

SHOOTING THE BULL

HEINZ SIGHT 2021:
I’m glad to see that at least one problem facing humanity has been solved. Kraft Heinz has rolled out a new product that the condiment company says is the “biggest innovation in sauce since the packet itself.” The Packet Roller is a ketchup bottle-shaped gadget that allows users to squeeze pretty much all the ketchup out of a packet. It, of course, also works with other condiments. The roller is pocket-sized, can be added to a keychain, and features a packet corner cutter, too. The Heinz Packet Roller website instructs buyers not to “click ‘purchase’ unless you are prepared to change everything about the way you sauce.” The roller is selling for US $5.70. A surge in takeout and delivery food orders during the pandemic led to a scarcity of ketchup packets, and Heinz pledged to increase production of ketchup by 25% to 12 billion packets annually, and to fast-track “future-focused culinary and packaging innovations”. LINK: https://www.heinzpacketroller.com/Home/Shop
(And, once again, it’s up to the other companies to ketch…well, you know…)
(If they want to come up with packaging innovations, why don’t they invent a packet that I don’t need 10 of for my burger and fries?)
(Of course, if you’re a kid, you already have a device that gets all the ketchup out of the packet. The problem is that it ends up splattered all over the sidewalk!)

TECH TALK:
➢ Facebook, which faced sharp criticism for its plan to develop an “Instagram for kids”, has announced it is pausing work on the project. In a statement, the company said: “While we believe building ‘Instagram Kids’ is the right thing to do, Instagram, and its parent company Facebook, will re-evaluate the project at a later date. In the interim Instagram will continue to focus on teen safety and expanding parental supervision features for teens.” The app was to be aimed at children ages 10-12. (Millions of 11-year-old budding chefs are devastated…)
➢ TikTok now has 1 billion active global users. The service, which is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, has reported a surge in users over the past few years, with a large amount of its audience joining amid the pandemic. TikTok reported just 55 million users in January 2018. That number grew to more than 507 million by December 2019. The company reported nearly 700 million monthly active users last summer. (And by “active”, they mean “people who can’t stop using the damn thing”!)

KIDS N’ VEGETABLES:
The kids are gonna LOVE this: A ready-made excuse not to eat their veggies. Apparently, there is a scientific reason that children dislike broccoli and cauliflower…and Brussels sprouts and other greens. According to a research team, it all comes down to the organisms in their saliva. They found that bacteria in the mouth can mix with certain enzymes in these vegetables — producing an unpleasant and sulfurous odor. The team from Australia’s national science agency discovered that children with higher levels of these volatile compounds in their saliva causes them to dislike broccoli, cauliflower, and other Brassica vegetables. And ironically, parents should actually blame themselves if their kids don’t like broccoli. The levels of this odor-producing compound vary from adult to adult, but parents and their children typically have very similar microbiome makeups in their saliva.
(Is this a problem? I mean, what parent hasn’t discovered that if there’s enough melty cheese, kids’ll eat anything!)
(I’m guessing no one wants to hear the scientific reason my wife doesn’t like ME eating broccoli?)

A MORE INNOCENT TIME:
(Someone recently compiled a list of responses to a request for products and practices popular in their long-lost youth. See if any of these ring a bell…for your Grandparents!)
Do you recall a time when…
☞ Decisions were made by saying “eeny-meeny-miney-moe”?
☞ Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming, “Do over!”?
☞ “Race issue” meant arguing about who ran the fastest?
☞ It wasn’t odd to have 2 or 3 ‘best friends’?
☞ The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was “cooties”?
☞ A foot of snow was a dream come true?
☞ “War” was a card game?
☞ Water balloons were the ultimate weapon?
☞ Taking drugs meant orange-flavored chewable Aspirin?
☞ Cartoons weren’t 30-minute commercials for action figures?
