Can You Believe This Sheet?

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ “Tiger King” is no longer the king of Netflix’s Top 10 titles list. The Joe Exotic docuseries had its 25-day streak at No. 1 on the streaming service’s daily rankings of all its available movies and TV shows in the U.S. snapped by “Despicable Me.” The true-crime docuseries now holds the record for the longest streak atop Netflix’s overall shows and movies list. “The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez” comes in second with six straight days, followed by “Love Is Blind” and “Spenser Confidential,” which were both in the top spot for five straight days.
-YahooStyle
★ “Blue Bloods” star Nick Cordero is weak but recovering after having his right leg amputated Saturday due to complications from the coronavirus, according to a video posted to Instagram by his wife. Cordero, who was nominated for a Tony Award in 2014 for his performance in “Bullets Over Broadway,” has been battling the virus for more than two weeks. His wife, former Radio City Rockette Amanda Kloots, has been posting updates about his condition on Instagram. Earlier, she had said that blood thinners given to the actor during his fight to stay alive had devastating effects on his legs, creating problems “with clotting and getting blood down to his toes”.
-HuffPost, TheBlast
★ Bill Cosby’s underlying medical conditions put him at grave risk should he become infected with COVID-19, according to his rep, who says the disgraced comedian should be released from Pennsylvania State prison, despite being ruled ineligible for early release. Andrew Wyatt says that Cosby is currently on medication for high blood pressure and that he is “100% blind from glaucoma.” He went on to point out that Dr. Anthony Fauci has said that COVID-19 is “deadly to the elderly,” “to those that suffer from underlying medical issues,” “to more Blacks and people of color than any other race,” and to those who in an environment which prevents them from social distancing.
-TheWrap
★ The “Party of Five” reboot has been cancelled after just one season. The one-hour drama followed the five Acosta children as they navigated daily life struggles to survive as a family unit after their parents are suddenly deported to Mexico. The new version of the show was never the big ratings winner producers hoped it would be. The original Party of Five series, starring Matthew Fox, Scott Wolf, and Neve Campbell, ran from 1995 to 2000.

QUARANTEAMING:
In order to escape the isolation, loneliness and boredom that comes with stay-at-home orders mandated around the world, some people have ditched their homes and moved in with friends. Doing so allows these people to abide by the orders, but it also provides them with in-person, human interaction that they would otherwise be missing during this time of physical distancing.  Experts say that “quaranteaming” could be one positive response to come from the COVID-19 crisis, showing that teaming up and supporting with those that you care about and approaching social distancing together is a positive story that shows how resilient people can be, by unconventionally addressing this challenge together.
(Plus they can’t cook!)
(Yeah, you’d want to be REAL careful who you’re “team”ing up with…)
(Moving in with friends – great idea! I’m just worried about how to tell my wife…)

TAKE A HIKE:
The more you walk, the longer you’ll live. That’s the main bit of advice from a new study that found a higher daily step count is associated with a lower mortality risk from all causes. And it’s not about intensity; you don’t have to run or jog. Just do a lot of walking. The study, conducted by researchers from the National Cancer Institute, National Institute on Aging, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, found that people who walked 8,000 steps per day had a 51% lower risk of dying from any cause than those who only walked 4,000 steps per day (which is considered low for an adult). Taking 12,000 steps per day was linked to a 65% lower mortality risk than 4,000 daily steps.
(Not in my neighborhood!)
(I’m guessing that repeated trips to the fridge doesn’t count?)
(Isn’t the Centers for Disease Control the organization that’s telling us to stay inside?)

FOOD TO BOOST YOUR MOOD:
Rather than reaching for that carb and calorie-laden comfort food during isolation, consuming healthy mood-boosting foods can deliver important brain nutrients while positively impacting your well-being…
⇒ Fish:  Yup. Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish can result in substantial mental health benefits and protect from depression. Also good for cardiovascular health and brain development. (But not the greatest smell to be stuck with in isolation!)
⇒ Green veggies:  Spinach, broccoli and Brussels sprouts are a source of folate, which is essential for the body’s production of serotonin. Researchers say that those with depression consume less folate than those without depression. (This one I might risk…)
⇒ Probiotics:  Yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut and kimchi are good for keeping our digestive tract healthy, but recent research suggests that probiotics also play a role in reducing negative thoughts associated with sad moods.
⇒ Whole grains:  Oats, brown rice and whole wheat bread are rich in B vitamins, which are important for energy and optimal brain health. Their fiber also helps to keep blood sugar from spiking and leading to mood swings. (Like the one my teenager has when I try to get her to eat brown bread!)
⇒ Vitamin D:  Egg yolks, fatty fish and fortified milks are not only good for bone health and immunity. Those with low vitamin D levels have been found to be more likely to be depressed.
⇒ Dark chocolate:  Chocolate contains caffeine and theobromine, a compound that may affect mood. It also contains healthful flavanols that have been shown to help lower blood pressure and cholesterol, and improve cognition. It may also boost serotonin levels (It does. Ask any woman!)
⇒ Coffee and tea:  A study showed that both may help protect against depression. They are sources of caffeine, which you know can give you a lift by having positive effects on mood and alertness. (You don’t want to be hunkered down with ANYONE if there’s no caffeine available!)

The Unicode Consortium said that there were plans for a new release of characters in March 2021, but they are being delayed by six months until September 2021.

• “Chocolate Covered Cashews Day”  The cashew is a tree from the family Anacardiaceae.  Surprisingly, the shell of the cashew nut is toxic, which is why the cashew is shelled before it is sold to consumers.

• “Keep Off the Grass Day”, can mean different things to different folks. This green holiday is observed in-between two momentous events – the day before Earth Day and one day after 4/20, when marijuana enthusiasts participate in smoke-outs, rallies, marches and “pot-ties”. Coincidence?

• “Big Word Day”, a day to use humongous words on purpose just to impress yourself. So, go ahead and facilitate this celebration of excess verbiage! Find a big word for any word here …
