Not the Fake News….it’s the BS Press!

BS SUBSCRIBER NOTE:
“The Bull Sheet” is off for a holiday July 3-7 inclusive. Subscribers will receive account credits for missed service days.

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Steve Carell is now a silver fox. He says he loves the positive reaction to his new grey hair.    The 54 year-old laughed off comments about his newfound ‘stud muffin’ status with his trademark dry humor, saying, “My wife finally said she’s in love with me. It’s exciting.”
(Well, the hair isn’t new…just the color!)

★ We’re not sure if they will make it to the party. But that didn’t stop Lindsay Lohan, who turns 31 on Sunday, from extending an invitation to her birthday party to Beyoncé and Britney Spears.   She also invited Paris Hilton.  Oh, and the invites?  They went out via Twitter.  (I think Beyoncé   has a little something, or two things, going on!)  BTW, Lohan has also announced she is launching a subscription-based ‘lifestyle’ website. $2.99 a month for up-to-the-second LL info!

★ Gal Gadot, says she has Beyoncé to thank for landing the incredible role of Wonder Woman. Gadot says that when she auditioned for Batman v Superman, she didn’t know that the role she was up for was Wonder Woman.  She says, “I decided to put on Beyoncé’s ‘Who runs the world? Girls!’ I just started to dance, and I let my anxiety go. Thank you, Beyoncé!’”

★ Robert Downey Jr. almost scored the role that Brad Pitt played in ‘Thelma & Louise’.  According to the new book, ‘Off the Cliff: How the Making of Thelma and Louise Drove Hollywood to the Edge’, director Ridley Scott was worried Downey Jr. would look too short next to star Geena Davis.  Pitt eventually read for the role at the last minute and proved to have chemistry with Davis.  She recommended the role go to Brad, and he scored the breakout role of his career.  (Downey Jr. was too short?  That ‘splains why Tom Cruise wasn’t in the running…)
-Jezebel
★ Ben Stiller is working his ‘Dodgeball’ character again.  Earlier, he released a video with Vince Vaughn and Christine Taylor all in their Dodgeball characters to announce a charity game.  Now, Stiller can be seen in a series of videos where, as Globo Gym founder White Goodman, he calls out celebs like Justin Bieber, LeBron James and Dwayne Johnson, either to trash talk them or to invite them to join his team.  The charity game will benefit the ‘Stiller Foundation’ in support of education initiatives around the world.

★ It’s an odd way to celebrate the second anniversary of a breakup, but they haven’t been following the ‘split’ playbook anyway.  Jennifer Garner brought her ex Ben Affleck to the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas to um, celebrate the two-year anniversary of their going separate ways.  According to a source, Jennifer feels it’s beneficial for the kids to have their father present.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Steam – singer Gary DeCarlo has died at the age of 75.  Steam scored big with the song “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye.” After the song rose to #1 in 1969, it became an arena anthem at sporting events, particularly at Montreal Canadiens home playoff games.
• Phil Collins –  will rely on a golf buggy to get to the stage for his gig in London’s Hyde Park tonight because he is still in a lot of discomfort from his hotel room fall.  He already suffered from back and leg problems, and at least for now requires a walking stick to get around.
•  The Black Eyed Peas –  will make their comeback in the ”medium of augmented reality”, which Will.i.am has hailed as a ”multi-dimensional” idea. He believes this idea is like nothing else that has ever been created before, and likens it to a whole ”new world” of music. (Yes, but what IS it?)
• Lady Gaga – says she draws inspiration from John Lennon and Yoko Ono when it comes to being socially conscious.  While Lennon and Ono often asked us to ‘Give peace a chance’, Gaga says she is asking people to give kindness a chance.
• Sean Combs –  has gone by so many names — Diddy, P. Diddy, Puff Daddy, Puff…that even he admits it’s confusing. So which one is his favorite? ‘Puff Daddy.’ According to Combs everything has lovely then: “He was just so free, but then life came”.  (Yeah, tough life. He is at the top of Forbes’ wealthiest celebrities list with a net worth of $820 million.)
• Katy Perry – declined former beau Orlando Bloom’s request to join him by getting naked during their paddleboarding adventure in Italy last summer. She jokes that Bloom was “trying to show off” in front of the people on shore by baring it all on the board.
• Loretta Lynn – her brother  has offered an update on her condition following her stroke in early May. Herman Webb says that although she was ‘kind of’ paralyzed on one side after the stroke, she is ‘doing really good’ now. She can get around by herself with the help of a walker.
• Rory Feek – will return to performing to say thank-you to the non-profit group that assisted him with insurance and medical bills as his wife Joey was dying of cancer last year.  He will donate all proceeds from his concerts on September 8 and 9 at his home in Pottsville, TN to the Music and Health Alliance.
• Rascal Flatts – crashed a wedding reception in Watertown, Wisconsin to sing a couple’s first dance song.  A family friend had written the group and asked them to do it, and they happened to be playing in the area.  The song? ‘Bless the Broken Road’.  Rascal Flatts has posted the video to their website.

TODAY’S MOVIE OPENINGS:
• “Despicable Me 3” (PG, Animation/Comedy): Gru meets his long-lost charming, cheerful, and more successful twin brother Dru who wants to team up with him for one last criminal heist. (Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Trey Parker, Miranda Cosgrove)
• “The House” (R-Rated, Comedy): A dad convinces his friends to start an illegal casino in his basement after he and his wife spend their daughter’s college fund. (Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, Ryan Simpkins, Jason Mantzoukas)

Introduced as a deaf blind man, he must fight to hold his cover as the nuns try to resist temptation. (Alison Brie, Dave Franco, Kate Micucci, Aubrey Plaza)
• “2:22” (PG-13, Drama/Mystery): A man’s life is derailed when an ominous pattern of events repeats itself in exactly the same manner every day, ending at precisely 2:22 p.m. (Teresa Palmer, Michiel Huisman, Sam Reid)

THE TRUTH ABOUT GOOP:
Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle and wellness website ‘Goop’ is known for selling products that you have never heard of for afflictions that you didn’t know you suffered from at prices that you probably can’t afford.  But it seems that Goop really may have stuck their foot in it this time.
They have been accused of making false claims and promoting pseudoscience before, but now NASA, one of the most respected organizations in the U.S., has a thing or two to say.
According to Goop, the ‘Body Vibes’ stickers they are selling (a pack of 24 for U.S. $120) aren’t just body stickers which ‘promote healing’.  They also ‘rebalance the energy frequency’ in your body and leave you calmer and with clearer skin.  Apparently.  The thing that NASA takes exception to is Goop’s claim that Body Vibes stickers are ‘made with the same conductive carbon material NASA uses to line space suits so they can monitor an astronaut’s vitals’.
NASA says that they “do not have any conductive carbon material lining the spacesuits.”  In fact, their spacesuits are made out of synthetic materials and spandex. A spokesperson for NASA also posed the question: “If they promote healing, why do they leave marks on the skin when they are removed?”  When asked about the situation, Goop claims that they have contacted the company that manufactures the Body Vibe stickers to inquire about the claim and has removed that statement from their website.
(Sounds like a load of goop to me!)
(So I should probably avoid the $37 napkin and the $335 set of jars too?)

IF YOU CAN’T BEAT ‘EM, SMOKE ‘EM:
With everyone and their grower making moves to legalize cannabis lately, a new review conducted by some of the world’s leading experts came up with 10 tips on how to reduce the potential harm of using cannabis.  Here they are, man:

1. Recognizing that there is no such thing as a risk-free drug, avoiding cannabis use is the only way to prevent health risks. Although this is logical, it is impractical,  given the millions of people who use the drug.

2. Delay starting the use of cannabis.  Most adverse health and social effects are associated with people who started using cannabis heavily before the age of 16.

3. Avoid strains of cannabis with high THC and low CBD.  (Woah.  Buzzkill.)

4. Don’t use synthetic cannabis such as ‘spice’. These drugs have been associated with severe acute mental health problems and proven to be fatal for some people who have used them.

5. Find a different way to use cannabis other than smoking. With up to 77% of users reporting that they combine tobacco with cannabis, this exposes users to a range of health problems including cancer, heart disease and respiratory illness. Although calibrating the right dose can be difficult, using edibles is recommended as a less risky option.  (Mmmmm….brownies!)

6. Don’t take deep breaths or try holding cannabis smoke in your lungs, as this not only increases respiratory trauma but boosts the toxic material ingested. (Isn’t that sort of the point?)

7. Similar to guidelines on alcohol consumption, have a break. Having 1-2 dry days a week is recommended for alcohol.  For cannabis, the reverse is suggested: only use 1 day a week or on weekends. (Or at least wait until after work!)

8. Wait at least 6 hours before you drive or get on a bike. Impairment is increased if alcohol has been combined with cannabis so it is recommended that driving should be avoided completely.
(You don’t want to get a ticket for driving too SLOW…)

9. Some people who are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of cannabis should refrain from using it altogether. These include pregnant women, those who have a family history of drug problems or of severe mental health problems such as psychosis.

10. Lastly, any combination of the above will increase the risk to health in the short or long term. For example using high strength cannabis when you are a young teenager magnifies the potential risk to health, both physical and psychological.

(I’m guessing these guys are not going to be your first choice to hang with at a party!)
(If you really want to limit consumption among youth, just have their parents tell them that they think it’s cool!)
