100% Grade A Bull!

★ Robert De Niro is removing the anti-vaccination documentary “Vaxxed” from the lineup at his Tribeca Film Festival (April 13-24), after initially defending its inclusion. The decision to include the film  “Vaxxed: From Cover-up to Conspiracy” by anti-vaccination activist Andrew Wakefield came under fire, particularly since Wakefield’s contention that measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine have a link to autism has since been totally discredited. While De Niro on Friday defended the decision to include the film, he released a statement Saturday saying he’s reversed his decision. Check out this world map showing the repercussions of Wakefield’s  fraudulent 1998 research paper …

★ Apple’s 1st original TV series will be about … apps. Media watchers have long predicted Apple is set to challenge Netflix and Amazon in original digital programming. Now Apple has made an official announcement – it is producing a non-scripted series to spotlight the app economy. The idea for the show came from Ben Silverman, an executive producer on the CW’s “Jane the Virgin” and Netflix’s “Flaked”.  One observer suggests Apple is merely intending to use the reality series about app developers to increase interest in its App Store. Another red flag regarding the likely success of this ‘programming’ …. is said to be involved in some way. Not much else is known about Apple’s app show at the moment.

★ Actor Hugh Jackman played lifeguard Saturday after his 15-year-old son became trapped in a riptide in Australia. Jackman was at Bondi Beach in Sydney when reports say the currents suddenly changed, causing a strong riptide in the water. When Jackman’s son Oscar began having trouble in the waves, “The Wolverine” actor had to step in and help. Luckily for Hugh, there were plenty of other people around, including lifeguards who assisted with the rescue and got Oscar to shore. A rep for the actor tells Australia’s ABC News, “Hugh and Oscar are completely fine. It looks more dramatic in the video than it was.”
★ And skepticism about a purported romantic relationship between 32-year-old Brit pop star/TV personality Cheryl Fernandez-Versini (Cole) and 22-year-old Liam Payne of One Direction continues to grow. Many think it’s hype to boost ratings for Simon Cowell’s flagging “The X Factor” (on which Liam is said to be joining Cheryl as a panelist next season). But is the doubtfulness any wonder? This is how Cheryl’s love life has been covered in just one single newspaper: 2016: “Cheryl & Liam from One Direction in secret 3-month relationship.” 2014: “Cheryl & Jean-Bernard marry after secret 3-month relationship.” 2010: “Cheryl & secretly dating.”

Clinical psychologist Dr Joe Luciani, whose latest book is “Thin From Within”, weighs in on what you’re doing wrong when trying to drop a few pounds …
✗ You’re stressed. When it becomes a constant problem, food can become your escape.
✗ You’re bored. Your go-to comfort food provides the distracting pleasure of something to do.
✗ You’re watching TV or otherwise distracted. Binge-watching can lead to binge-eating.
✗ You’re depressed or anxious. Destructive eating is an anesthetic to emotional discomfort.
✗ You’re lonely. Often we try to use food to fill the emptiness in our lives.
✗ You see or smell a nostalgic comfort food. It can release in the brain the same chemicals involved in tasting these foods.
✗ You’ve had an alcoholic beverage … or 3. It lowers inhibitions and diminishes willpower.
✗ You’re tired, you have access to junk food, and it’s late at night. (Strike 3!)

• “Dyngus Day”, a traditional Polish holiday designed as a day of fun on “Easter Monday” when guys chase after girls with squirt guns, buckets, and other containers of water. The more bold and gallant boys may choose to use cologne. Tradition has it the females get revenge on Tuesday when they throw dishes or crockery back at the boys. But it’s become increasingly popular for girls to get their revenge right away, tossing water back at the boys. For obvious reasons, this wacky event is also known as “Wet Easter Monday”.

• “Easter Egg Roll”, an annual celebration held on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington DC on “Easter Monday” for children & their parents. The ‘Egg Roll’ itself is a race, where children push an egg through the grass with a long-handled club. Dolly Madison, the wife of president James Madison, began the event in 1814 when hundreds of children brought their decorated eggs to join in games.

• “Weed Appreciation Day”, which is not what you’re thinking. It’s a salute to plants that grow wild which, though classified as weeds, have a beauty all their own. Think of them as wildflowers and see if that helps.

☎ Should borders be abolished? There are tens-of-millions of people in the world who have fled their homeland because of war or persecution. But there are millions more who cross borders to be with family, to retire to a warm climate, or to earn more money. Countries have the right to restrict immigration, at least in theory. The question is whether they should have this right.

Question: Men spend about 2½ hours more per week doing THIS than women.
Answer: Hanging out with friends.
