★ Jeremy Renner shared one of the treatments that’s helped him recover following his near-fatal snowplow accident 2 years ago. The ‘Hawkeye’ actor posted a smiling selfie from within a hyperbaric chamber to Instagram, calling the treatment an essential part of his recovery. He wrote: “Taking care of business; this office of mine has been such a blessing and absolute champion for wellness.” He said the chamber “has been a staple” in his life for 20 months, and encouraged fans to “Pull up a chair and let’s discuss all things good in life today !!!” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/758jskf3
★ Christopher McQuarrie, the director of “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning”, is teasing the Tom Cruise movie, and it seems that audiences have some thrills to look forward to. In what is reportedly the final film of the franchise starring Cruise, McQuarrie said that a member of a test audience had quite the reaction. Quote: “We had a small screening, and someone said, ‘I was suffocating throughout the entire sequence. I almost had a heart attack.’” He didn’t reveal what action sequence made the audience member feel that way, but the film’s trailer showed Cruise’s ‘Ethan Hunt’ fighting off enemies underwater, off of planes, and many more jaw-dropping scenes. McQuarrie said the comment made him think: “I guess we did something right.”

• Taylor Swift – The 1975’s Matty Healy has responded to a report that he’ll use the group’s next album to “get everything off his chest” about their short relationship in 2023. The Sun quoted an “insider” saying that the record, possibly titled “God Has Entered My Body” has lyrics including: “Keep your head up, princess, your tiara is falling.” Healey’s joking response to the story on Reddit: “Huge if true.”
• The Band — The group’s last surviving member, Garth Hudson has died at 87. His fantastical approach to the organ and virtuosity on a number of other instruments lent a distinctive touch to the roots-rock sound of the influential Canadian-American roots rock group, which started as Ronnie Hawkins’ backing band The Hawks, and later Bob Dylan’s “Band”.
• Def Leppard — guitarist Vivian Campbell missed the band’s first show of 2025. Joe Elliott informed the crowd in Guanajuato, Mexico that Campbell was unable to perform as he was receiving treatment for cancer. He announced he was battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2013, and was replaced for the night by guitar tech John Zocco.
• Scorpions — Weeks after drummer Mikkey Dee detailed his near-death experience with sepsis, the band has postponed its Las Vegas residency. It was scheduled for Feb. 28-March 11 at PH Live at Planet Hollywood, a part of the group’s 60th anniversary celebration. New dates run Aug. 14-23.
• Chase Matthew – will drop his third album “CHASE” on Feb. 21. The 13-song collection will include the newly released ‘Drives My Truck’, as well as ‘Backroads of My Mind’ and ‘Missin’ Me Missin’ You’, both previously released. There’s also a Lauren Alaina collab called ‘Heart Half Empty’.
• Chris Stapleton – has joined forces with NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. to field the inaugural entry for JRM in the 2025 Daytona 500. They’ll field the #40 “Traveller Whiskey Chevrolet”, with defending NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion Justin Allgaier behind the wheel.
• Luke Bryan – His mom, LeClaire, had a mishap with Bailey Zimmerman in Mexico. She was a guest of honor at Crash My Playa 2025. The 2 seemingly became fast friends there, and in one pic Zimmerman posted, LeClaire is smiling and giving peace signs behind him, as they pose in front of a crowd. In a pic SHE posted, they’re turned around to show off the seat of LeClaire’s pants, which apparently got a little wet when she sat down. She wrote: “Cushions were a little wet. Still fun.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/sf6au37s
SHOOTING THE BULL
GREAT SHAKES:
This’ll definitely make you think things through the next time someone reaches out for a handshake. According to a new study, a handshake reveals some interesting insights into your sex life. Researchers at Washington State University reviewed data from over 4,300 adults, analyzing their grip strength, and survey responses about their (ahem!) love lives. They found that stronger men are more likely to be in long-term relationships – and were found to have more past sexual partners than their peers. Stronger women are also likely to have a longer list of sexual partners, compared to weaker handshaking women. But strength didn’t seem to have any bearing on the length of women’s relationships. The researchers point out that experts have long believed men’s strength to be an evolutionary marker, as men competed against each other for mates – an example of survival of the fittest.
(A strong handshake: now the ultimate flex, literally AND figuratively…)
(So… should there be a “grip strength” setting on Tinder now, or what?)

INSTA TOK?
Over the past several days, Instagram has rolled out a number of features that seem like they – well, let’s just say it’s probably not a coincidence that TikTok faces an uncertain future in the United States. One that was announced over the weekend is the new video creation app called “Edits”, which those who know this stuff say is an awful lot like “CapCut”, an app owned by TikTok’s parent company ByteDance. Insta also plans to increase the maximum length for Reels videos from 90 seconds to 3 minutes. These efforts are looked at as a way to encourage users to spend more time on the platform. Edits will be available March 13. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4u6ryvfa
(At this rate, next thing you know, Instagram will be doing TikTok dances!)

BUS STUFF:
A UK bus operator has unveiled its list of the possessions that passengers left behind last year – and some, as you might expect — are unexpected! Brighton & Hove Buses, which operates in Sussex, Surrey, and Kent, said that that of the 13,000 forgotten items from 2024, the most common included wallets, keys, glasses and phones. But now, the good stuff: Also somehow forgotten by transit riders were: a canoe, a wardrobe, and even a refrigerator. Want more? Other “surprisingly large” things found aboard the company’s buses were a tent, a microwave, a grass trimmer and an electric oven. Smaller, but still unusual stuff included a set of false teeth, a frying pan, a shoulder massager, a stethoscope, a canvas depicting The Ten Commandments, a box of hairnets, a rude drawing, a purple dumbbell, and an urn containing ashes. 64 people left their passport behind – and 78 forgot their cane.
(It’s a miracle!)
(In totally unrelated news, I just thought of a great way to get rid of unwanted appliances…!)

Tech moguls Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos are among those expected to be the first-ever people to hit trillionaire status, according to a new study by Oxfam. The report predicts that within the next 10 years, there will be a total of 5 trillionaires – people with a 13-figure fortune to their name. For the record, there are 1000 million in a billion – and 1000 billion in a trillion. (…and at least 3 people who should be doing a lot more to help others!)

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Answer Your Cat’s Questions Day”, a day to concentrate on your feline and answer the questions you think it’s asking. People often consider cats unaffectionate, but the truth is, they only talk to humans. Studies show they rarely ‘meow’ at other cats.
• “Celebration of Life Day”, a day to honor the gift of children and grandchildren. (Because having “a 2-year-old is kind of like having a blender, but you don’t have a top for it.” — Jerry Seinfeld)
• “Hot Sauce Day”. If you’re one of those people who feels that “spicy” is never quite spicy enough, Hot Sauce Day is the day for you! It is used in Bloody Marys, and put on foods such as eggs, enchiladas, and chicken wings. There are many variations and brands, but the one thing common to all hot sauce is the presence of chili peppers.
• “Southern Food Day”, dedicated to celebrating the rich culinary tradition of the Southern US. Southern cuisine is known for comfort food, characterized by hearty flavors, locally sourced ingredients, and a blend of cultural influences. From fried chicken, barbecue, and catfish, to grits, collard greens, and biscuits… (Sorry my mouth started watering there, and I lost my train of thought!)

• “Roe vs. Wade Day”, the day that changed everything. This date in 1973, the US Supreme Court announced its decision that the constitutional right to privacy includes a right to abortion. 52 years later, Roe vs. Wade Day is celebrated as a historical moment in women’s rights.
• “Library Shelfie Day”. Some book collectors arrange them so their spines can be admired. Others have a system of organization that’s like an alternative art form. However they’re organized on the shelf, today you should take a “shelfie,” and share it on social media. (Do you just screen-shot your list if you have a Kindle?)
• “Blonde Brownie Day”. The blonde brownie uses vanilla and brown sugar as ingredients in place of the chocolate or cocoa of traditional chocolate brownies. Also known as “blondies”.
