BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Jimmy Kimmel is officially a grandpa! The “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host’s daughter Katie has welcomed her first baby with husband Will Logsdon. On his Tuesday show, Kimmel joked: “Her name, they gave her a very cute name. Her name is Melania.” He then added: “It’s Melania Thee Stallion…” His granddaughter’s real name is Patti Joan. Or, as he put it, Patti “like the melt, but with an ‘I’ not a ‘Y'”. The baby’s middle name, Joan, comes from his mother’s name. The comedian missed just his second show in 22 years on Monday to be there for his granddaughter’s birth.

★ The 2025 American Music Awards’ lineup of presenters has been revealed. Monday’s ceremony from Las Vegas will include appearances by model Cara Delevingne, singer Shaboozey and “The Traitors'” Dylan Efron. CBS and Dick Clark Productions announced that Shaboozey will be presenting while also nominated for 7 awards. And he’s not the only musician who will be hitting the stage. Jennifer Lopez returns to host the evening for her second time after previously hosting in 2015. Nonimees Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Renée Rapp, Lainey Wilson, and Benson Boone will also perform.

★ Jennifer Lopez is being sued for posting photos of herself at a Hollywood party, with the photographer and a paparazzi agency saying she failed to get permission to use them. Photographer Edwin Blanco and Backgrid, the agency he was working for, have both filed lawsuits, saying they own the copyright to 2 photos. They say the pics were e used “to promote Ms. Lopez’s public appearances, boost user engagement, increase shareability, and lend credibility to her branded content”. Backgrid and Mr. Blanco are seeking up to $150,000 damages each, per photo.

★ Sarah Michelle Gellar gave an update about the casting process for the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” reboot in a recent interview, revealing that some familiar last names — but not first names — have showed up to audition. Gellar said that “a few people from the (original) show” have kids who auditioned for the reboot. Gellar didn’t give any specific names, but there are several former castmates who have children who could hypothetically appear on the new show, including David Boreanaz and Anthony Head.

★ TV producer Ryan Murphy has lined up his next high-profile series project. FX is in early development on “The Shards”, based on Bret Easton Ellis‘ prep school thriller novel, with Kaia Gerber set to star. The Shards is a dark coming-of-age tale with semi-autobiographical facets for Ellis. Set in Los Angeles in 1981, the story follows a 17-year-old version of Ellis during his final year at an elite prep school. Upending the character’s world is the arrival of a mysterious new student ‘Robert Mallory’, whose unsettling presence coincides with the activities of a serial killer known as “The Trawler”.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Taylor Swift — “The Handmaid’s Tale” star and exec-producer Elisabeth Moss said she found the “perfect spot” to debut Swift’s re-recorded version ‘Look What You Made Me Do’. Moss said she has wanted to use a “Taylor song” for years on the show, but she’s glad “we waited because there could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment.” The song was used to kick off episode 9. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/bdtcatye
• Lady Gaga and Olivia Rodrigo – Their pianos are going on tour. The famous piano company Steinway & Sons is launching “Steinways of the Stars”, where fans can go and see the actual pianos played by Gaga and Olivia, as well as those used by Laufey and Jacob Collier. Tour dates are at www.Steinway.com.
• Foo Fighters — Taylor Hawkins’ son Shane has dispelled rumors he’s replacing Josh Freese on the drum stool. Freese joined the group following the 2022 death of Taylor, but was let go over the weekend with “no reason” given. While buzz was that Shane would be stepping in, he posted that he’s getting set to tour with his late father’s covers band, Chevy Metal.
• Smashing Pumpkins — Billy Corgan will tour with his new group, Billy Corgan and the Machines of God, performing Pumpkins music. The tour celebrates the 30th anniversary of “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness”, as well as 25th anniversary of “Machina/The Machines of God”. It begins June 7 in Baltimore and includes a special collaboration with the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
• The Doors — A memorial bust of Jim Morrison that was stolen from his grave 37 years ago has been found by chance. French police say it was recovered in Paris during an investigation unrelated to the 1988 theft from the poet’s corner of a famous cemetery.
• David Bowie – A rare collection of photographs by legendary late photographer Mick Rock are expected to fetch £30,000-50,000 at auction. The 21 signed pics dating from 1972-73 depict Bowie on and off the stage and dressed as his ‘Ziggy Stardust’ alter ego. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/5n7znnzm
• Riley Green – We’re not sure which Riley item is more important, so we’ll give you both. #1: His luxurious 2,800 square-foot home exclusive Charlotte Park area of Nashville for sale for $1,075,000. #2: He shaved off his mustache. He posted a pic, and wrote: “Never let them know your next move.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2e2wy6xw
• Dolly Parton – showed up on Monday to christen the new exhibit dedicated to her at the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum. She told the several hundred invited guests: “I think it’s wonderful that I have been able to see my little girl dreams come true.”
• Alan Jackson – although he has officially retired from the road, fans will still have a final chance to see him live in the city that made his musical dreams come true. He told the audience at his final tour stop in Milwaukee that he’s “planning on doing a big finale show in Nashville next summer sometime.”

SHOOTING THE BULL

SNACK ATTACK, GUT FIGHTS BACK:
Are you just like me – you try to eat healthy during the week, but treat yourself on the weekend to a “cheat-meal” – or 2 or 3 – where you can binge-eat on fatty and fried foods to your heart’s content? After all, it’s only for a day or 2, and then you’ll be back on the ‘healthy-eating’ wagon. Bad idea, according to new research. The study, published in the journal Immunity, reveals that even a weekend of consuming fatty foods can seriously damage your gut health. Researchers from the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research found that your intestines register the impact of fatty foods within just 48 hours, and the more saturated fats we eat, the more inflammation builds up. This could be why many people experience digestive discomfort after periods of unhealthy eating, like during the holiday season or while on vacation. The researchers cautioned that switching to a diet high in saturated fats can cause immediate changes in gut health, possibly setting the stage for long-term inflammatory diseases later.
(So, you’re telling me my cheat meal is cheating me back?)
(I think my body would experience even more trauma just from shock if I ate seeds and nuts all weekend!)

VAPE IS NO ESCAPE:
New research says vaping may be even more addictive than nicotine gum — especially for young people who’ve never smoked regular cigarettes. The study focused on pod-style vapes, which have become super popular in the last decade, particularly among those under 25. These devices use nicotine salts — which make the hit smoother and less harsh — especially appealing to vape newbies. Researchers found that when regular vapers (who never smoked cigarettes) were given either nicotine gum or their usual vape, the vape did a much better job at killing cravings and boosting satisfaction. In short: it was way more addictive. That’s a big deal, because earlier studies concluded that vapes were about as addictive as gum — but those were mostly done on people who already smoked. This new study shows that for a growing group of nicotine users who never smoked, vaping might be their first — and very sticky — step into addiction.
(Sure, maybe vaping IS more addictive than gum – but on the plus side, it’s also more pretentious!)
(Addicted? No way, I just really love blueberry clouds!)

STREAKERS IN SNEAKERS:
The Carolina Foothills Resort is stripping away convention — literally — as it gears up for its record-breaking Buck Creek Streak 5K on June 14. A jaw-dropping 161 participants have already signed up for the “clothing-optional” run at the South Carolina nudist resort. Why would someone want to participate in a 5K run naked? As board member Tom Crowder puts it: “You can run a 5K anywhere. But you can’t run one naked just anywhere — unless you’re looking to get arrested at your local turkey trot!” This year, racers can opt for an extra cheeky challenge: a 7.3K “go the extra mile” tribute to race founder Mike Ward. Newcomers must pass a background check and register by June 13, while veterans can sign up day-of. Registration comes with lunch and a day pass to explore the bare-it-all grounds. Crowder said everyone has fun at the annual event, pointing out that “If it wasn’t a blast, we wouldn’t have this many people eager to let it all hang out.”
(Naked running? Because spandex is just too modest?)
(I think I just found something that I want to do even LESS than a 5K!)

(If you had to do it all over again, would you go to college – or do you think in today’s world, you’re just as likely to make it without?)

DID YOU KNOW?
That wrinkling that appears on your fingers after a long bath or dip in the pool isn’t random; it follows the same pattern every time, according to a new study from Binghamton University. This discovery, published in the Journal of the Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials, reveals that the “pruny-raisin” design that forms on our fingertips after soaking in water aren’t just arbitrary folds of skin. They’re predictable, repeatable patterns linked to the underlying blood vessels, which occur in a pattern that is consistent even across different days. (Thanks for this essential information, which has caused me to miss untold hours of sleep while pondering that very question!)
