BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Christina Applegate has been hospitalized for a kidney infection, which has since spread to both kidneys, causing her to be hospitalized with “so much pain” she said she’s “screaming.” The “Married… With Children” star recorded the podcast she co-hosts with Jamie-Lynn Sigler from an L.A. hospital as she struggled with pain that made her feel like her appendix was bursting. Applegate said that while in Europe visiting family, she began to feel unwell. On the flight back, she decided to go straight to the hospital, explaining she didn’t want to wake up at 3am and need to run to the emergency room.

★ Mel Gibson’s “The Passion of the Christ” sequel will be split into 2 films, with both parts coming out in 2027. “Part One” is slated for Good Friday, March 26, and “Part Two” set for 40 days later on May 6. “The Resurrection of the Christ” Parts One and Two are Gibson’s follow-ups to his landmark film “The Passion of the Christ,” which until “Deadpool & Wolverine” came along last year, was the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time domestically.

★ “The Thomas Crown Affair” is getting another remake! Michael B. Jordan will star in and direct the new version of the classic crime caper for a new generation. 26 years ago, The Thomas Crown Affair starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo was released. And that wasn’t the first time audiences were introduced to Thomas Crown. The heist thriller was a remake of the 1968 original, featuring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. Both movies follow Thomas Crown, a wealthy but bored businessman, who entertains himself by committing crimes. The latest Thomas Crown Affair movie has a release date of March 5, 2027.

★ KJ Apa has signed on to star as James Stewart in “Jimmy,” an upcoming biopic about the “It’s a Wonderful Life” legend. Apa, best known for his role as ‘Archie’ on the “Riverdale,” said he feels “so honored I get to bring his story to life.” The movie will chronicle Pennsylvania-native Stewart’s rise in Hollywood, including winning an Academy Award for his work in “The Philadelphia Story,” before enlisting in the Army Air Corps as a combat pilot at the beginning of World War II. Not long after his return home, he starred in “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

★ During a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, Chris Pratt was asked about how he and wife Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt decided on the name for their 8-month-old, and if it had a connection to the actor’s family. The dad of 4 welcomed his son Ford with wife Schwarzenegger Pratt in November 2024. His response? “They paid the most.” That’s a joking reference to the Ford truck company. Pratt continued, saying: “He was almost Hyundai. No, it’s Ford Explorer Pratt.”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Chappell Roan — Though she just released the new single ‘The Subway’, she’s taking her time with her second album. When asked about it, she revealed a “second project doesn’t exist yet”, and “It took me 5 years to write the first one, and it’s probably going to take at least 5 to write the next.” Her debut album, “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” dropped in September 2023.
• Lady Gaga – It’s not a surprise, given widespread fan speculation, but she’ll release a song titled ‘Dead Dance’ that will appear in Season 2 of “Wednesday.” The song and video are expected to drop next month to coincide with her appearance in the show as a “legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday.”
• Justin Bieber – His son Jack Blues Bieber gets some screen time in the new music video ‘Yukon’, and it’s the best view of the baby that we’ve seen so far. It mainly consists of Justin dancing and singing on a yacht, while wife Hailey does some swimming in a bikini – but there are shots of the parents playing with Jack, whose face is still mostly obscured by water droplets. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4mxdcx2r
• David Byrne and Hayley Williams — The Talking Heads and Paramore singers are linking up again, this time for a new song called ‘Open the Door’ for the upcoming animated Netflix film “The Twits”. In addition to that song, Byrne wrote 3 others for the film, which will be performed by the cast. The Twits will be released later this year.
• John Fogerty – The composer of classics like ‘Proud Mary’, ‘Fortunate Son’, and ‘Who’ll Stop the Rain’ will receive BMI’s Troubadour Award in September. The music rights management company said Fogerty is being celebrated for “the tremendous influence he’s had on the American musical landscape.”
• Def Leppard – Joe Elliott shows off his piano skills (or lack of them) in a new IG video. The caption reads: “Allow us to introduce you to Sir Elton Joe.” Elliott tries to play a few notes, messing up several times to the point where he begins cursing at himself and loses track of how many attempts he’s made at performing. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/mvcfj3s2
• MTV Video Music Awards – has finally given Country Music its own award category. In its nominees list announced on Tuesday, it included the 6 country music videos that are up for an award in the new “Best Country” category at this year’s ceremony: Chris Stapleton-‘Think I’m in Love With You’, Cody Johnson and Carrie Underwood-‘I’m Gonna Love You’, Jelly Roll-‘Liar’, Lainey Wilson-‘4X4XU’, Megan Moroney-‘Am I Okay?’, and Morgan Wallen-‘Smile’.
• Morgan Wallen – ‘Miami’ has become his 41st song to hit the Billboard Country Songs top 10. After the remix with Lil Wayne and Rick Ross arrived on July 25, it also debuted at #1 on the Country Digital Song Sales chart.
• Luke Bryan — attempted to bust a move while playing guitar and covering Bruno Mars’ ‘Uptown Funk’ – and suffered an NSFW injury. During the Riverbend Music Center show in Cincinnati, he moonwalked while singing the prechorus, then called for the music to stop and, out of breath told the audience that he “pulled my (bleep!)”. SHOOTING THE BULL
YOU SNOOZE, YOU WIN:
Before making a major decision, many people say they’d like to “sleep on it” first. Well, according to science, that’s not just procrastination – it’s a good idea. A new study in PLOS Biology found that short naps—especially those reaching deep sleep—can boost creative problem-solving. In one test, 86% of nappers who hit “N2” sleep (the second stage of non-REM sleep), had an “aha” moment after just 20 minutes. Researchers believe this deeper sleep stage may help the brain reorganize and strengthen important connections, clearing mental clutter. Experts say the ideal nap length is 20-30 minutes, depending on how fast you fall asleep. While a full night’s sleep has benefits too, this research focused on quick naps. Sleep doesn’t just rest the brain—it sharpens it, improves memory, reduces emotional reactivity, and supports better decisions. So next time you’re stuck, a power nap might be your smartest move.
(That’s exactly what I keep telling the boss — but he’s all, ““please stop crawling under the conference table…”
(If naps equal eureka moments, I’m basically Einstein with a blanket!)

BONE TO BE WILD:
Forget what the thermometer says: because Fall is here—at least according to Home Depot, which officially made ‘Skelly’, its viral 12-foot-tall Halloween decoration, available for sale over the weekend. And this year, they’re also offering ‘Ultra Skelly’, a smaller 6½-foot (2m) version that lets you talk with trick-or-treaters through an app. When kids approach, Ultra Skelly can greet them, comment on their costumes – and can even be customized with up to 30 seconds of spooky, modulated voice recordings. It also features app-controlled lighting and movement—all for $279. Also joining the Grace & Bones Collection are Sitting Skelly’s Dog and Skelly’s Cat, which are both 5 feet tall. Although Halloween is still 87 days away, Home Depot’s early launch means you can have your porch haunted well in advance. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2wndtwt9
(That skeleton has more features than my car!)
(The only thing scarier than Skelly is how early Halloween starts…!)

PET SNACKS:
A zoo in Denmark has made a wild request: they want you to donate your unwanted pets—not for adoption, but to feed them to their lions and lynxes. Yes, really. Aalborg Zoo is asking for chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits, and even small horses to be handed over, so they can be “gently euthanized” and served up as dinner for their predators. Their reasoning? To mimic the “natural food chain.” The Facebook post announcing this came complete with a photo of a snarling lynx, because why not? While some people are praising the zoo for its “naturalistic” approach, others are (understandably) horrified. Deputy director of Aalborg Zoo, Pia Nielsen, said in a statement that the initiative has been in place for years and is common practice in Denmark.
(Even Hannibal Lecter would be like, “Okay, Denmark. Chill.”)
(Imagine telling your kid that Fluffy went to a zoo… and stayed for dinner…)

FORMERLY FREE:
Recently, BuzzFeed asked its readers to share some of the things that used to be free, that they are now forced to pay for. Here are some of the most-missed miscellanies…
☞ “Accessories that used to come with your phone. They claim it’s to…be more environmentally friendly, but the phone is actually more expensive now…”
☞ “Driving on the highway. Tolls (bleep!) me off. It’s not about the money; it’s about having to stop and count out change.”
☞ “Buying tickets. ‘Convenience fee: $9001.'”
☞ “I used to be able to get extra garlic sauce cups for free any time I got pizza…Now, they charge $1 per extra cup.” (Same with McDonald’s sauces…)
☞ “Plastic grocery bags.”
☞ “Airplane food. I remember complete meals for free, and they were pretty decent too.”
☞ “Air for your tires. When I started driving, I could walk up to any gas station and fill my tires for nothing. Not anymore. It’s ‘only’ $1.25, but it used to be free.”
☞ “Content in games. Maps, extra levels, weapon packs, and the like were available as updates, not downloadable content that you have to pay for.”
☞ “Everything on the internet, especially news articles and even most original content.”

DID YOU KNOW?
For some people, watching others fidget isn’t just annoying—it’s unbearable. This common reaction, affecting about one in 3 people, is known as misokinesia, meaning “hatred of movements.” It’s a visual counterpart to misophonia, where certain repetitive sounds trigger irritation. While misokinesia has only recently started getting scientific attention, it’s surprisingly widespread. Researchers say the discomfort comes not from noise, but from simply seeing someone tap, bounce, or squirm—making everyday moments unexpectedly stressful for those affected. (Misokinesia? I call it “open office syndrome.)

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Beach Party Day”. Swimming, relaxing on a towel with a book, or just staring off towards the water can bring rejuvenation. But, if you turn your beach visit into a beach party, it gets even better. Today is all about gathering together with friends and having a party on the beach!
• “Lighthouse Day”, an annual observance when lighthouse grounds, where feasible, are open to the public. No more lonely lighthouse keepers these days … they’re all automated.
• “Particularly Preposterous Packaging Day”, to draw attention to the environmentally unfriendly over-packaging of consumer goods. Which are worst for this? (Is it the packaging for scissors that requires scissors to open…or the oranges sold in plastic containers…with their peels removed?)
• “Professional Speakers Day”, an annual salute to those who move us and inform us through the magic of their oratory talents. To speak and to speak well are 2 very different things…
• “Purple Heart Day”. The Purple Heart is awarded to members of the US Armed Forces who have been wounded or killed, died as a result of a wound in battle, or otherwise designated by the President of the United States. This now includes those killed as a result of friendly fire.
• “Sea Serpent Day”, recognizing perhaps the most famous-ever sea serpent sighting. During a voyage to Saint Helena in the South Atlantic in 1848, the men and officers of HMS Daedalus spotted a 60-foot long creature, which they reported held a peculiar maned head above the ocean water.

BULL’S BITS
BS WHACK FACTS:
✓ There’s more fresh water in the atmosphere than in all of Earth’s rivers combined.
✓ Around 50% of English words come from French.
✓ There are 6 communities in Tennessee named “Shiloh”.
✓ We call redheads “redheads” rather than “orangeheads” because redheads have existed longer than the word “orange” (in English).
✓ People using sign language also have accents.
✓ The word ‘buffalo’ can refer to the animal, a city in New York, and can mean ‘to bully’. Therefore, the following sentence is grammatically correct: Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.
