★ The official release dates for Season 5 of Netflix’s beloved supernatural series “Stranger Things” have been announced, and yes – there are more than one. The show’s final season will hit the streamer in 3 chunks, with “Volume 1” premiering November 26, “Volume 2” on Christmas Day, and the grand finale on New Year’s Eve. Fans have been waiting for Season 5 since 2022 – when Season 4 aired. The delay was, in part, due to the actors’ and writers’ strikes of 2023.

★ Phil Robertson may be gone, but the team behind “Duck Dynasty” kept his memory alive – by paying tribute during Sunday’s series premiere of the show’s revival. The Robertson family patriarch — who passed away May 25, appeared in archival footage in the first episode of “Duck Dynasty: The Revival.” It’s the only part of the show that will touch on Phil’s death, because according to sources, no new footage was shot to capture the family’s reaction. The family will address Phil’s death in season 2, in order to stay true to the show’s authenticity.

★ Marc Maron has announced that he and producer Brendan McDonald have decided to end “WTF With Marc Maron,” the groundbreaking podcast that helped define the medium. It launched in 2009. Maron broke the news to guest John Mulaney during the podcast’s latest episode. He indicated that the final episode will debut “sometime in the fall.”

★ Don’t expect Mark Hamill to return to the “Star Wars” universe anytime soon. In a recent interview, he discussed his future in the sci-fi universe. While he was the one to kick it off with “A New Hope” in 1977 alongside Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, Hamill has no interest in taking the saga any further. Quote: “We never expected it to become a permanent franchise and a part of pop culture like that. But my deal is, I had my time. I’m appreciative of that, but I think they should focus on the future and all the new characters.” He then joked that he disappeared in “The Last Jedi”, saying: “I left my robes behind. And there’s no way I’m gonna appear as a naked force ghost.”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Miley Cyrus – Friday, she dropped her 9th studio album “Something Beautiful”, and with it, she released a video for her song ‘Easy Lover’. The clip serves as a tease of her full visual film that will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 6. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4a6s7pr5
• Taylor Swift – With her buying back her master recordings, many are wondering what that means for the highly anticipated “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)? According to her note to fans, “I haven’t even re-recorded a quarter of it,” because the album “was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it.” She left the door open for “unreleased Vault tracks” from the album to be released in the future. LINK: https://www.taylorswift.com/
• Kelly Clarkson — reportedly had a “moment of clarity” following her brief break from her talk show due to personal matters. In March, she abruptly stepped away from her show for 2 weeks. Now, sources say she faced “very painful” personal issues, and that she might leave her show, as she “knows her limits.”
• Talking Heads — will release a Super Deluxe reissue of their second album “More Songs About Buildings and Food”. The new version of the groundbreaking 1978 album is due out on July 25, and will include a 60-page hardcover book featuring rare photos and new liner notes with recollections from David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Harrison.
• U2 – Bono told Jimmy Kimmel that the new music the band is currently working on is “the sound of 4 men, who feel like their lives depend on it… Nobody needs a new U2 album unless it’s an extraordinary one. And I’m feeling very strong about it.”
• John Fogerty — was once offered the chance to buy back the guitar he played during CCR’s glory days, but refused because of the memories connected with the era. His wife, however, bought it anyway and gave it to him as a Christmas present, kick-starting a healing process that helped him return to music. His upcoming album “Legacy – The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years”, features recreations of CCR classics.
• Megan Moroney – offered her advice for getting over an ex while speaking with CMT on the red carpet at this year’s AMAs. Quote: “I always tell my friends, I’m like, ‘Block ’em. Literally block them.’” In the past, she has been romantically linked to Morgan Wallen, and more recently, fans have been gossiping about a potential relationship with Riley Green.
• George Birge and Brantley Gilbert – Friday, they dropped their new collab ‘Small Forever’. Birge quote: “Brantley has been a genre-defining artist, both as a songwriter and a performer. I still think it’s wild that I get to call him a friend these days and couldn’t be more fired up with how this song turned out.” The song merges country instruments and hip hop beats. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/37ts9ckt
• Kenny Chesney – has been named the #1 country act in Billboard’s list of the Top Country Artists of the 21st Century, so far. The ranking is based on performance on the weekly Top Country Albums and Hot Country Songs charts from the start of 2000 through the end of 2024. The rest of the top 5, in order, are: Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Toby Keith, and Keith Urban.
SHOOTING THE BULL
SOAPERSTAR:
We’re sure many men have jokingly fantasized about it — and now they actually can have access to Sydney Sweeney’s bathwater – sort of. The “Euphoria” star has partnered with soap brand Dr. Squatch to sell a limited-edition line of bars…which are supposedly infused with her bathwater. In a series of Instagram posts, she announced that “Sydney’s Bathwater Bliss” soap bars will be available this Friday. It’s actually the second time Sweeney has made cash from splash, following her now-viral ad for Dr. Squatch Natural Body Wash last October, which featured her in a bubble bath speaking to “dirty little boys.” In last Thursday’s post, she said: “Introducing Sydney’s Bathwater Bliss! A very real, very limited-edition soap made with my actual bathwater.” The soap is said to be “a perfect combination of the two best places on the planet: The outdoors and Sydney Sweeney’s bathtub. Experience the ultimate blend of outdoor serenity with refreshing notes of pine, Douglas fir, earthy moss, and a touch of Sydney’s very own bathwater.” Priced at $8, Sydney’s Bathwater Bliss will be June 6 at drsquatch.com on June 6. CRUISE NEWS:
Five years ago, during the early stages of the pandemic, there were doubts whether the cruise industry would survive. But now, it has more than rebounded – enough that a growing number of companies are now offering niche, themed cruises. In fact, these days, it’s more a question of what there ISN’T a cruise dedicated to than what there IS. There are cruises for hobbies like crafting and knitting, or for nostalgia, such as the ’70s Rock and Romance Cruise. TV is also a major source of cruise-theme fodder. CrimeCruise is geared toward true crime fans. There are also cruises for Star Trek, The Golden Girls, and even Hallmark Christmas movies. Or, you could opt for Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea. And, of course, there are the live-music-on-the-high-seas cruises. Some that are scheduled for this year and next include: The Soul Train Cruise, The Outlaw Country Cruise, The Flower Power Cruise, and the Emo’s Not Dead Cruise, which is expected to attract a demo with an average of 35, much younger than the average cruise customer.
(Is there an All You Can Eat Buffet at Every Meal-themed cruise – or is that all of ‘em?)
(Did we really survive a pandemic just to end up on a Golden Girls cruise?)

TAROT: CARE-O?
So – astrology: Is it a reliable predictor of what’s in store for you, is it a fun and harmless distraction – or is the diabolic work of the devil, and must be avoided? Well, it turns out that about 3 in 10 of us dabble in astrology, tarot, or fortune tellers at least once a year. But most don’t take it too seriously. According to a recent Pew Research Center survey of Americans, only about 1% say they rely heavily on those readings to make big life decisions. For most, it’s either just for fun, or a source of occasional insight. Still, it’s big business: the psychic services industry raked in $2.3 billion last year and employs over 100,000 people. Who’s most into it? Younger adults—especially younger women—are the most frequent users, with about 4 in 10 women under 50 saying they believe in astrology. LGBTQ+ adults are also much more likely than average to turn to the stars or tarot. On the flip side, older adults, conservatives, and college grads are the least likely to believe or participate.
($2.3 billion in psychic revenue? They definitely saw that coming!)

THE BEST SUMMER MOVIES EVER:
According to the movie experts at the Globe & Mail…
1. “Jaws” (1974): It was not only the first movie to be widely advertised on TV, it’s also considered the first-ever summer blockbuster. Plus…Spielberg.
2. “Independence Day” (1996): It took the disaster-movie playbook of the 1970s and scaled it up to summer-spectacle territory par excellence. (And Randy Quaid essentially saved America by flying up an alien spacecraft’s butt!)
3. “Do the Right Thing” (1989): Rosie Perez dancing to Public Enemy. Samuel L. Jackson waking up the entirety of Brooklyn. This is the long summer day that changed Spike Lee’s life, and the lives of many moviegoers.
4. “Die Hard with a Vengeance” (1995): If the first Die Hard is a Christmas movie, then the 3rd chapter in the book of John McClane is a certified summer-movie classic: gritty and sweaty, panicked and preposterous, and always, always hot.
5. “Stand By Me” (1986): Director Rob Reiner compressed several generations’ worth of coming-of-age nostalgia into one perfectly concentrated dose of end-of-summer, friends-forever adventure.
6. “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial” (1982): Never mind the alien: Spielberg created a school-free stretch of wild bike rides, friendships forged in fire, and the instinctive joy of defying authority.
7. “Star Wars” (1977): In terms of our very concepts of entertainment, nostalgia and “brand awareness,” there is ‘before’ Star Wars, and ‘after’.
8. “Grease” (1978): Coming off “Saturday Night Fever”, John Travolta was at the peak of his powers, while Olivia Newton-John cast a spell over roughly half the North American population. (Tell me more, tell me more…)
9. “Jurassic Park” (1993): Supersizing his own Jaws formula, Spielberg slickly officiated the summer’s marriage of movies and merch. But the end product was terrifying, beautiful, dangerously clever.
10. “Top Gun: Maverick” (2022): Not kidding. It’s not only a rip-roaring, fantastically fun sequel, but the movie that reignited the summer season itself, just as it was set to ride into the danger zone, never to return.
(What’s YOUR fav summer movie? Maybe it’s just one that holds special memories for you. For instance, mine’s “Revenge of the Nerds”!)

DID YOU KNOW?
If your job has you feeling tense, your dog might be feeling it too. A new study published in Scientific Reports found that stress from your work can affect your dog at home. The researchers said that when dog owners dwell on work problems after hours, a habit known as “work-related rumination,” their pets show more signs of stress. Previous research has shown this happens between spouses, but this is the first evidence that it can happen people and their pets. (No wonder my dog sighs louder than I do!)
