★ It seems that Alfonso Ribeiro won’t be “Dancing with the Stars” for a little while, because he injured his ankle while filming a dance number at Disney World. Ribeiro, who hosts the reality dance competition show — was filming an ABC holiday special at the Florida theme park when he stepped on one of the trolley rails and rolled his ankle, say witnesses. Fan video shows him leaning heavily on co-host Julianne Hough, seemingly afraid to put weight on the ankle, before a production team member runs over with a chair. From there, he was moved to a wheelchair, and received a loud round of applause from the audience. TMZ reports it turned out to be a minor injury.

BS MUSIC NOTES:

• Rihanna – fueled retirement rumors with what she said to a crowd while deejaying at a Fenty Beauty event in Barbados. Quote: “Music was the thing that got the attention, but God had other plans for me.” While she has promised to release new music in the future, fans took her message as a sign that she may be planning to retire from the industry.
• *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys – are 2 of the groups profiled in the new documentary “Larger Than Life: Reign of The Boybands”, premiering on Paramount+ today. The show takes “takes a deep dive into the evolution of boy bands, going all the way back to the influence of The Beatles, and even touching on the incredible rise of K-pop”. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2fvj4y77
• Guns N’ Roses – Their “Greatest Hits” album has now spent 700 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart. It is now one of only 8 releases in history to reach that milestone. Coincidentally, Bruno Mars’ “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” hit the same landmark at the same time.
• Foreigner – bassist and musical director Jeff Pilson is now saying that their current farewell tour might not be “farewell” after all. In an interview, he said he “wouldn’t be surprised if we continue well past ’25.” He also used the phrase: “maybe we’re gonna not do the long 9 and 10-months-of-the-year road stuff anymore”, which seems to leave the door open for the group to tour in the future.
• Lynyrd Skynyrd – singer Johnny Van Zant says that the band’s last show before the death of founding member Gary Rossington was recorded, and will be released “on CD, Vinyl, and DVD I’m sure.” Plus they are “talking about” a movie. Rossington, the last original Skynyrd member, played his final concert with the band on November 22, 2022 at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
• Bailey Zimmerman – His latest patriotic post has fans seeing stars — and probably blushing, too. He caused a stir by posting a pic of himself wearing his American flag-patterned underwear, with his shorts around his ankles. He’s seen giving a thumbs-up in his patriotic undies over a view of New York City. We’re not sure exactly why, either. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4crytcxe
• Chase Wright – has dropped his new version of the holiday classic ‘It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas’. In an Instagram Story, he called it “one of my favorite Christmas songs. It’s [a] very nostalgic song.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3ymz75xr
• Miranda Lambert – In a post celebrating her 41st birthday on Sunday, her husband Brendan McLoughlin revealed she has a hidden talent – or at least one she’s working on – golf! His Instagram carousel shows the birthday girl taking a swing on the golf range, with pretty good form. McLoughlin said his wife is “soon to be the most fun golf partner” out there. SHOOTING THE BULL

SINGING SINGLES:
Guys, be warned. It turns out that you need a woman a lot more than they need men, when it comes to finding happiness. A pair of University of Toronto psychologists analyzed data from nearly 6,000 single adults from 10 studies, and found that un-partnered girls are happier than their guy counterparts in every measurement. Women were found to be happier being on their own, less likely to want a significant other, more sexually satisfied — and more content overall. The researchers found that the reason that women are happier being single is that they are more likely to have supportive platonic relationships. In addition, romantic relationships are less beneficial for women, because they’re more likely to take on a larger share of household duties. That means single men “have more to gain from partnering than do single women.” Studies in the past have shown that women also tend to enjoy their solitude more than men.
(To reach the conclusion that single women are happy, the researchers spoke with 6,000 employed adults, none of whom have any spiders in their house!)
(Based on my first marriage, I would have sworn that the way for a woman to find happiness is to make her significant other UNhappy!)

SNACK FACT:
When the munchies hit, what type of snack are you reaching for? According to new research, your answer might reveal a lot about your personality. An analysis of peoples’ snack choices by a team at Gettysburg college could explain why we tend to describe nice people as “sweet”. The researchers wrote that the association between agreeableness and the preference for a sweet taste is related to the fact that we use terms like “sweetie” and “honey” to refer to those we love. And this co-relation, where agreeableness was “significantly and positively” associated with sweet taste preferences. was found to be true among all test participants, including those from other cultures in China, Germany, and Mexico, in addition to the US. The team concluded: “People may resonate with experiences that ‘fit’ their personalities. Metaphors might be one way to examine this fit.”
(So, what does the fact that I love hot sauce say about my temper?)
(Never mind my SNACK choices. I’m guessing the fact that I sometimes eat a whole cake for dinner means I’m REALLY, REALLY sweet? Or possibly diabetic…)

BATHROOM STALL-ING:
One-third of employees are “afraid” to use the washroom where they work, according to a new poll. UK-based bathroom appliance company QS supplies backed the study, which involved surveying more than 1.000 employees on their workplace loo habits, with the idea of calculating the impact of bathroom breaks on company productivity. Now, I hate to be TOO graphic, but, hey, who can’t relate to this.? They found that one in 12 employees has never done a #2 at work. And yes, 36% of us are “scared” to use the work facilities. Why? A lack of privacy was the greatest concern (59%), followed by, yes, embarrassment about the smell (57%) and noise concerns (47%). It was estimated that for companies, $2,833 goes down the toilet per in-office employee each year, due to time spent in the bathroom while on the clock.
(I LOVE using the restroom at work. I figure: If I gotta do it, I might as well get paid for it!)
(They’re AFRAID to use the company restroom? That’s so weird. Like…where do these people go when they need to hide?)

DID YOU KNOW?
If you wish you could ensure your unborn child has a higher-than-average IQ, this might be for you. A company is charging wealthy parents-to-be up to $50,000 to screen their embryos for IQ and other desirable traits. American start-up Heliospect Genomics, using genetic enhancement technology, says it can screen embryos from parents undergoing in-vitro fertilization, to help select children with IQ scores 6 points higher than those conceived naturally. Footage obtained of the company’s controversial practices shows Heliospect employees claiming they could screen up to 100 embryos for IQ “and the other naughty traits that everybody wants”, including sex and height, as well as risk of obesity or risk of mental health problems. (Should we screen the parents for ethics at the same time?)

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Pizza With the Works Except Anchovies Day”. The world’s first true pizzeria, Antica Pizzeria Port’Alba, opened in 1830 and is still in business today, in Naples, Italy. Italian immigrant Gennaro Lombardi opened the first North American pizzeria in 1895 in NYC. Pizza is now consumed all over the world …with or without anchovies. (Sounds fishy to me…)
• “Happy Hour Day”, celebrating the time at bars and restaurants when alcoholic drinks are served at discounted prices. Happy hours usually take place in the late afternoon – and usually for more than an hour. (Booze won’t fix your life…but it’s worth a shot!)
• “Fancy Rat & Mouse Day”, a day set aside for people who appreciate pets . . . that are vermin. LINK: http://www.afrma.org
• “World Pneumonia Day”, to demand action in the fight against the deadly lung inflammation. This year’s theme: “Every Breath Counts: Stop Pneumonia in Its Track”. The theme underscores the urgency of stopping pneumonia through early detection, treatment, and prevention.
• “Chicken Soup for the Soul Day”, honoring the sappy series of feel-good books. Conventional wisdom says that chicken soup works wonders on the common cold. So, “chicken soup” became a shorthand for a cure-all, a mysterious-but-effective way to solve problems. Hence the book with the same title, which spawned a generation of sentimental spinoffs.
• “Young Reader’s Day”, to recognize the joys and benefits of reading, and promote its importance. Today, help and encourage our youth to learn to read, and open the door to knowledge, information, success, and happiness. (I hope I read that right…)

TODAY’S SCOOP OF BS:
➠ Walmart has announced its Black Friday deals. (My wife and I differ on gifts this year. She wants a diamond necklace. I want to get her something sensible, like a bathrobe. So we compromised — and I’m getting her a diamond necklace.)
➠ Ryan Gosling is 44 today. (I don’t know what he wants for his birthday, but if it’s your wife, you might as well start looking for somebody new…)
➠ Dangerously cold wind, freezing rain, and heavy snow were predicted for much of the U.S. this week. (So cold that Kamala will be able to see the last breath of her political career!)
➠ 43 monkeys escaped a research facility in South Carolina last week. (Last I heard, authorities were luring them back with Trump cabinet positions!)
➠ Nevada finally finished counting votes. (What’s with that? Why is it so hard for the people there to count votes? We’re talking about a state where half the population can play 10 Keno cards at the same time!)
