Tom Bergeron, who hosted the show for 28 seasons, shared a collage of images from his time with Goodman, writing: “A Good Man, indeed.” Bruno Tuniolo shared a throwback photo of the pair, saying he was “heartbroken” over the death of his “dear friend and partner for 19 years”. And Carrie Ann Inaba remembered him as “A Dancer. A teacher. A refined gentleman. A wonderful storyteller. A special soul. A mentor. A family man. And… A treasured friend.”

★ Comedian and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” actor Richard Lewis has revealed in a social media post that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 2 years ago. He began his video by sharing that he was just wrapped Season 12 of Curb Your Enthusiasm a few of weeks ago and expressed his gratitude for being a part of that great show, “But,” he said, “the last three and a half years I’ve had sort of a rocky time.” He went on to detail how he had back surgery, shoulder surgery, shoulder replacement surgery and hip replacement surgery “back to back to back to back,” then came his Parkinson’s diagnosis. On the positive side, the 75-year-old said he “got it late in life, and they say you progress very slowly if at all.”

★ Matthew Perry has vowed to remove his controversial remarks about Keanu Reeves from future editions of his memoir “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.” The “Friends” actor apologized after receiving backlash for writing that he questions why Reeves “still walks among us” when “talented” actors and “original thinkers” like River Phoenix and Chris Farley have passed. But at the LA Times Festival of Books on Saturday, Perry revealed that all future editions of his book will omit Reeves’ name. Perry said: “I said a stupid thing. It was a mean thing to do…I’ve apologized publicly.”

★ “Yellowstone” has seen a lot of headlines lately due to its behind-the-scenes drama, with reports of strife between star Kevin Costner and series creator Taylor Sheridan. Now, the Daily Mail is reporting that Sheridan is the one to blame for the feud due to his alleged “God complex.” A source says Costner felt dismissed and told to stick to acting when he raised certain concerns with Sheridan that the show was “headed in a direction that was not in line with their initial vision.”

★ Hayley Atwell has become engaged to actor boyfriend Ned Wolfgang Kelly shortly after splitting from Tom Cruise for the second time. The 41-year-old “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” star was first linked to Kelly last July, who revealed on Instagram that he proposed during a romantic getaway to Venice. Kelly wrote: “A perfect start to the rest of our lives together. I’d never had any interest in getting married… until I met this extraordinary woman. Happy as a clam.” According to reports, Atwell and Cruise split up once again last year.

★ “Love Is Blind” fans continue to take Vanessa Lachey to task for how she handled the Season 4 reunion. Specifically, she has been criticized for pressuring the couples on when they were going to have children. The reunion got off to a rocky start when the supposedly live event was delayed by over an hour. Once it got underway, not only did fan criticize her apparent bias when questioning certain contestants, but they also took issue with how many times she asked the couples when they were going to have kids. They felt as though it was an inappropriate question to ask and particularly problematic ask as many times as she did.

SHOOTING THE BULL
LIFE’S MOST INTENSE MOMENTS:
What was the most intense moment of your life…so far? The survey results are in, and according to a poll of 2,000 adults in the UK, life’s most intense moments include getting married, meeting your celebrity crush and watching a team play a make-or-break match. Respondents said they experience, on average, 11 of these situations each year, and others that ranked high on the list include: moving, going through a breakup, and getting a promotion. Other nail-biting experiences: Buying a property, getting a pet, falling over in public, and sending a message to the wrong group chat. 57% said they enjoy these moments, and only 8% said they don’t. By the way, #14 on the list was “Watching a sex scene in a TV show/film with your parents/children.”
(OK…that last one – pretty intense!)
(Uh, did none of these people have children?)

TECHTALK:
⇒ New research shows that TikTok has both positive and negative impacts on users’ mental health. A study by the University of Minnesota says the platform provides a sense of community and self-discovery but also “repeatedly” exposes users to harmful content. TikTok is run by a recommendation system displayed on a “For You Page” instead of showing users posts from accounts they follow. While this personalized approach is helpful for some users to find positive content about mental health and avoid feelings of loneliness, it can also lead users down a “rabbit hole,” according to the researchers, “and that’s when it can go from being helpful to being distressing and triggering.” (Also triggering: When I discover my kid is still up watching videos at 3am!)
⇒ You may have already heard this, but it’s definitely worth mentioning, because how often does Mark Zuckerberg hand out money? A massive $725 million settlement involving Facebook’s parent company Meta was tentatively approved by a judge last month, paving the way for users of the social media platform in the US to apply for a chunk of the payout. Meta has agreed to the payment to settle a class action lawsuit claiming Facebook allowed users’ personal data to be shared with third parties, harvesting the data of as many as 87 million people. Facebookers have until Aug. 25 to submit a claim online or via snail mail. (And when you get your money, be sure to post about it!) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/mpb4kfee

ATHLETIC SUPPORT:
If you’re a female runner, and you’d like to improve your times, invest in a good sports bra. That’s the word from the Breast Biomechanics Research Center at the University of Memphis. They determined that the increased breast support affects biomechanics in other parts of the body – and wearing the right sports bra can actually boost a woman’s running performance by 7%. A spokesperson said: “The findings…show that sports bras should be considered not only as apparel, but also as sports equipment that can both improve performance and reduce the risk of injury, playing a role in women’s health.”
(Yes, they’re expensive, but if you’re anything like me, you’ll do whatever it takes to get your workout over with 7% faster!)
(A sports bra would definitely help some dudes too, actually…)

ENDANGERED OCCUPATIONS:
A Reddit thread recently featured answers to the question: “What’s a profession you’ve seen phased out in your lifetime?” Brace yourself…
❑ “Paperboys. Having a paper route used to be a thing. Now there are very few people who get a daily physical paper.”
❑ “Back in the 20th century, there used to be small huts in parking lots where a person would develop your film in as soon as one hour.” (Develop your WHAT?)
❑ “Judging by the advertising I see online these days, proof-reader.”
❑ “Executive assistant. When I started my career, even low-level managers had a person to write memos, answer their phone, and plan their travel.
❑ “The entire industry that makes pricing guns. Everything in the store had a small white sticker with the price on it. The UPC code and scanner eliminated this.”
❑ “Door-to-door salespeople. You used to see them pretty frequently back in the ’60s but you never see them now.” (But still, lots of door-to-door scam artists…)
❑ “Cobblers. There used to be people that fixed shoes and shined shoes. Every town had one and every man had his shoes shined often.”
❑ “Bike messengers…Now everything can be done with high-speed internet.” (They’re all delivering for Uber Eats now…)
❑ “I used to be a projectionist at a movie theater. Most theaters are all digital now, with the projectors on timers.”
❑ (Uh-oh…) “Radio disc jockeys. They’re not gone yet but they are dwindling…Local DJs are fewer and fewer as radio stations consolidate.” (Yeah, you saw this one coming…)
(Ask listeners to add to the list. We’re going with gas station attendants…)

DID YOU KNOW?
NYU Scientists say they have discovered what makes hair go gray as we age, an essential step in finding a way to stop or reverse the process. A new study published in Nature suggests that hair may go gray due to stem cells “glitching out” and becoming stuck. When this happens, the hair cannot mature and thus cannot maintain its color. (How about that? Because my hair is no longer ‘maturing’, I’m starting to look more mature. Aw, who am I kidding? There’s not a thing about me that’s mature!)

BULL’S BITS:
BS WHACK FACTS:
✓ The first-ever oranges, grown in Southeast Asia, were green.
✓ Although getting a single tattoo can temporarily weaken your immune system, receiving several tattoos over time can strengthen it.
✓ Chicago’s nickname, “The Windy City” has nothing to do with weather. It was coined by journalists who felt its residents were “windbags” and “full of hot air.”
✓ The phrase “head over heels” was originally “heels over head,” which makes more sense, literally.
✓ The dark side of the moon is actually turquoise.
✓ Smartphone maker Samsung created a robot shaped like a butt to “sit” on their phones, testing that they can take the pressure. The robot even wears jeans.
