There’s a Difference Between Sheet and Crapola!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Gordon Ramsay claims he is going to “Give this vegan thing a try”. The TV chef caused a stir on social media after telling his fans he was going to try cutting out all animal products – which includes all meat and dairy – in favor of a cruelty-free lifestyle, despite being vocal about his love of meat in the past. Less than three months ago, the “MasterChef” star poked fun at the vegan lifestyle, tweeting: “I’m a member of PETA ! People eating tasty animals.”
-People
★ Pamela Anderson has joked that the fight between her ex Tommy Lee and their son Brandon is “almost like a rite of passage”. Anderson appeared on “Piers Morgan’s Life Stories” to talk about her book ‘Lust for Love: Rekindling Intimacy and Passion in Your Relationship’, which includes a passage about her sons, including 20 year-old Dylan being “raised by wolves”.

★ Khloe Kardashian’s baby True Thompson already has her own Instagram account. Although the account doesn’t have any pictures yet, it already has over 175, 000 followers.
(But what are they following?)
-Cosmopolitan
★ Rob Lowe has declared himself “obsessed” with the Halifax Explosion. Lowe told Jimmy Kimmel that he successfully had his character in the new movie “Super Troopers 2” named for the deadly blast. Kimmel said that he had never heard of the 1917 blast, in which a munitions ship caught fire after colliding with another vessel and exploded. Lowe said: “It’s true — and I’m obsessed with it.” He added that the nickname was not in the original script for the movie, which opens tomorrow.
(Someone has obviously never seen ‘Canadian Heritage Moments’)

★ Julia Louis-Dreyfus received some good news this week when it was announced she is the winner of the Grand Award for the Gracies, which will take place on May 22. The Gracie Awards recognize exemplary programming created by women, for women and about women in all facets of media and entertainment. She was acknowledged for her work on “Veep”.
-DailyMail
★ Danielle “Cash Me Outside” Bregoli will grace the airwaves once more in her own reality series. 15 year-old Bregoli has signed a deal with Invent TV for a docuseries based on her inexplicable music career as Bhad Babie. Bregoli first rose to fame as a problem child-turned-meme on “Dr. Phil”. She was nominated this week for a Billboard Music Award in the ‘Top Female Rap Artist’ category.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Pink — made a surprise appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Wednesday after she was named People magazine’s Most Beautiful Woman 2018.  She said that the moment she found out she’d be gracing the Beautiful Issue cover, she laughed out loud: “I immediately turned to whoever was in the room and said, ‘Did you ever think this was as good as it gets?’”
• Cardi B – is among the artists nominated for 2018 Billboard Music Awards. Cardi is up for Top Rap Female Artist. Nominees in other categories include Taylor Swift, Drake and Kendrick Lamar. The show will air live on NBC from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 20.
• One Direction – Liam Payne has hinted that they are planning to reunite. The boy band went on hiatus in January 2016. In an interview, Payne said: “You know I think (a reunion) will happen at some point in the distant future. We’ve all spoken about it and, you know, the dream for this most fantastic show that could be, is amazing.” (In other words, it would beat playing bars for the rest of my life…)
• Ed Sheeran – has denied tabloid reports that he has applied to build 5ft railings outside his London home in order to keep homeless people out. Sheeran hit back via Instagram, calling the story “bollocks” and writing: “I have done lots of work in the past for crisis and shelter and would never build railings outside my home for that reason. The reason was to keep the paps [paparazzi] that you employ from being on my doorstep”.
• Thirty Seconds to Mars – Jared Leto and band surprised fans in Paris by hosting a mini-concert in front of The Louvre. Hundreds of fans gathered outside the museum to catch the band in action.
• Robert Plant – he and his group ‘the Sensational Space Shifters’ are among the headliners for the second annual Bourbon & Beyond festival Sept. 22-23 in Louisville, KY. Also on the bill: John Mayer, Sting, Lenny Kravitz, Sheryl Crow, Counting Crows and many more.
• Styx – were Dan Rather’s guests on ‘The Big Interview’ this week. James Young quote: “We’re meant to bring this music, which comes from a higher place and is chanelled through us and has the power to soothe, to calm, to inspire and, in the best cases, to heal. We are the stewards of this mighty power, and it’s our great joy to get out here and use that power.”
(All this from the group that sings “Domo arigato Mr. Roboto”!)
• George Michael – his former partner has revealed plans to sell Michael’s possessions after a scathing Twitter rant, saying he is “done with being respectful”. Fadi Fawaz declared that he has items for sale that belonged to the Wham! singer and has urged that anyone interested in purchasing them to get in touch. He admits to having financial difficulties.
• Twisted Sister – former frontman Dee Snider will be releasing his next solo album, ‘For The Love Of Metal’ in the near future. Guests include Lamb of God, Disturbed and…Howard Jones??
• Kenny Chesney – when his ‘Trip Around the Sun’ tour launches on Saturday in Tampa, he’ll be on the road with 19 buses and 28 trucks to haul equipment and personnel. He is also using a sound system that was recently used at a festival, which is loud enough to set off car alarms 150 metres away. He says he probably won’t turn it that loud, but it’s nice to know he could.
• Miranda Lambert – Eagle-eyed fans may have noticed something special about her guitar during her ACM Awards performance: It was signed by Loretta Lynn. She sang ‘Keeper of the Flame’, which reflects on the role Lambert plays in keeping the legacy of country music’s greatest songs and artists alive.

DRESS FOR THE SEAT YOU WANT:
It’s any traveler’s wildest fantasy. Besides that one. The one where you get a free upgrade to business class. So how do you get it? Flight attendants opened up on the website ‘Who What Wear’ to educate travelers on what to do and what to wear to give yourself the best chance of being bumped up. The main thing seems to be to look the part. No jeans, no leggings, no sneakers. For women, black pants and a blazer or a dress are good. For men, chinos or dress pants and a button-up shirt. Look like you travel often, but don’t overdo it in designer labels. Oh, and ask for an upgrade. Very nicely. It also helps if you are traveling alone and if you are part of the airline’s frequent-flyer program.
(Here’s what NOT to wear: Your drink on you lap.)
(So I’m guessing my classic ‘Hawaiian shirt and flip-flops’ look is a no-go too?)
(I’m not in the frequent-flyer program, but I do have 26 Air Miles!)

BOYS OF SPRING:
How bad has the weather been? So bad that Major League Baseball has been forced to postpone 24 games (through Monday)…the second most in April this century. And there is still a week and a half to go! It’s been so bad, The Minnesota Twins have already canceled four games, including three in a row over the weekend. Both Chicago teams were snowed out at home April 9, and the Cubs had to postpone Monday night’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals after more snow and wind chills in the 20s. And you must have heard that even the Toronto Blue Jays, who play INDOORS, had to postpone Monday night’s game against the Kansas City Royals as watermelon-sized chunks of falling ice from the nearby CN Tower opened a hole in the Rogers Centre roof, scattering snow and ice in right field. Some are calling for MLB, which has 18 of 30 teams located in cold-weather cities, to shorten the length of the season to 142 games from 162, allowing it to start later, perhaps around April 15.
(If they even have to cancel an INDOOR game, I’d say we have a problem!)
(Maybe they could negotiate warmer spring weather next time they go on strike?)
(Fans in the stands wearing parkas…bad optics!)

THE MOST USEFUL PHONE APPS YOU NEVER KNEW YOU NEEDED:
➢ Camscanner: Uses your phone camera to scan documents and then convert them into PDFs. Can be used to keep electronic records of receipts, notes, invoices, etc. Never use a scanner again. And it’s free!
➢ Google Translate: Takes the Google Translate from your computer to the next level. Its text translate feature holds 103 languages, but where this app really shines is in its ability to use a phone camera to instantly translate text in images. It also has a conversation mode for instant two-way speech translation. (Does it speak “Guy at the restaurant who may or may not be speaking English”?)
➢ Runkeeper: Running is almost fun if you have an efficient way of tracking your progress. This tracks your route, speed, pace, calories burned, and distance via GPS. Also synchs with Fitbit or Apple Watch and has a chat feature. (I tried it. It didn’t keep me running.)
➢ Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock: An intelligent alarm clock that analyzes your sleep and always wakes you up on the right side of the bed. You give the app a 30-minute window, and it will wake you up when you are in the lightest phase of sleep. (Can I just tell it to wake me at the END of the 30 minute window? Because you know I’m going to go back to sleep until then anyway…)
➢ Our Groceries Shopping List: Lets you share shopping lists with your partner, family, or household. Any items you add to the list will automatically show up on your partner’s device.
Both of you can easily check off items as you shop, and watch your partner check off items in real time. (Because let’s be real, only one of you knows what you’re doing at the supermarket!)
➢ Waze: Waze is the new way to navigate the world around you. It immediately notifies you of accidents, police, construction, and traffic on your route. It tells you the exact time you’ll arrive at your destination, shows you where to find the cheapest gas prices, and always puts you on the fastest path to wherever you want to go. (Does it have a radar detector?)
➢ Zombies, Run! What better way to motivate yourself to run farther and faster than to run away from a horde of the undead? This is an ultra-immersive running game and audio adventure.
You collect vital supplies on your route to grow your base back home, avoid zombies who’d like to eat your flesh, and do it all to the tune of your favorite playlist. (The Runkeeper didn’t keep me running. Maybe zombies would!)
(Maybe we need an app that will tell us that we need apps like these!)
