BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ From the “I never thought I’d see the day” department: Kim Kardashian is reportedly being forced to tear herself away from social media. In a bid to reconnect with her husband Kanye West, their therapist has advised Kim and ‘Ye to take long weekends away to enjoy some couple time and work on their marriage. And one of the rules on their getaways? No social media.
(But what are the rest of us supposed to do?)

★ Mandy Moore and fiancé Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes are getting ready for their wedding, and they chose to face a huge challenge before walking down the aisle: They climbed one of the tallest mountains on earth together. The pair climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, which, at 19,341 feet, is the highest peak in Africa. The “This Is Us” star shared that she’s “dreamed the dream of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro since the age of 18,” and hit the trails with Goldsmith and a group of her best friends to check off the top item on her bucket list.

★ Lindsay Lohan has lost an appeal in her lawsuit against the publisher of hit video game ‘Grand Theft Auto V’. Lohan had accused Take-Two Interactive of using her likeness in the game, and using her image to drive its record-breaking sales. She lost the original case in 2016, and appealed – but the courts have now ruled against her once and for all.

BS MUSIC NOTES:

• Iggy Azalea – has tattooed the name of her never-released second album on her fingers. Her planned sophomore album, ‘Digital Distortion’, was cancelled when her management staged an intervention and she agreed to spend time in therapy working on anger issues.
• Bruce Springsteen – guitarist Nils Lofgren thanked fans for their support after four of his guitars were stolen in Dallas last week, and says that the instruments are “coming back” to him. Lofgren — who was on a solo jaunt, said he was “devastated” after the guitars were stolen from a van outside a Holiday Inn Express. His wife tweeted a reference to a ‘Good Samaritan’ and a ‘police sting.’
• Queen – The release date of their biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ has been moved up. It was originally slated for a Christmas Day release, but Fox has bumped it up to November 2.
• Van Halen – former singer Sammy Hagar’s April Fool’s Day joke was to post on Facebook an obviously photoshopped picture himself with Michael Anthony and the Van Halen brothers alongside the caption: “Van Halen announces world tour” It also had the hashtag “#AprilFools”.
• Def Leppard – guitarist Phil Collen has expressed his opinion on the rumor that Angus Young is planning an AC/DC album with Axl Rose singing. Collen said: “I’m a huge AC/DC fan, and if the whole band’s left or gone… You’ve got one person – so it’s not really AC/DC…It kind of loses its appeal. It becomes karaoke.”
• Ted Nugent – said in an interview that the Florida students calling for gun control have “no soul” and are “mushy brained children.” Nugent, an NRA board member, said survivors of the Parkland school shooting are wrong to blame the NRA for mass shootings.
• Jo Dee Messina – her team has updated fans on her battle with cancer. The Facebook post reads in part: “She is feeling well and has kicked off her 2018 shows. She has also been in the studio writing and recording new music”. Messina was diagnosed with cancer last September, and the 47-year-old admits that the ordeal has seriously tested her faith.
• Kelsea Ballerini – is treating fans to a pretty, acoustic cover of ‘Delicate’, Taylor Swift’s latest single. Ballerini, who is lovingly referred to as “lil sis” by her pal Swift, posted a short video of herself playing a stripped-down version of the intimate pop song on Twitter.

STARTING TO REIGN:
With Princess Kate expected to give birth to child number three within days, you’ve got to wonder what the new baby’s official title will be (don’t you?). According to royal historian Marlene Koenig, the younger sibling of Prince George and Princess Charlotte will have quite a handle. The newest member of the family will have the long title of either “His Royal Highness Prince [name] of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland”, or Her “Royal Highness Princess [name] of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.”
By the way, while that may be the official title, it isn’t necessarily the exact title that the youngest sibling will go by.
(Because it’s hard to fit all that on your driver’s licence!)
(And I was proud when I got the title “Deputy Assistant to the Junior Shift Manager” at McDonalds!)

BEST NOT PARK HERE:
It happened. The ‘car vending machine’ is a thing. And it’s open for business in China. Ford and Alibaba teamed up to design a massive machine which offers a variety of vehicles for three-day test drives. The five-story contraption, which holds 42 vehicles in all, features rotating platforms, similar in design to parking garages commonly seen in Japanese cities and other countries in Asia. You have to pay via an app before turning up to collect the car from the vending machine, which is called the “Super Test-drive Center.” After showing up and proving your identity via facial recognition software, . The machinery grinds into action, with your chosen vehicle brought down to ground level in just a few minutes. No word on how much the fee is, but if you have a decent credit score, you can try out the cars for free.
(I’d just go for a ‘test-drive’ every time I needed wheels for a few days!)
(It’s like a parking garage? Great. You get to test drive a dusty car!)
(Maybe you get lucky and two come out?)

THE MANDELA EFFECT:
The Mandela Effect is a phenomenon where a group of people collectively misremember a fact or an event. The term was coined by the paranormal enthusiast Fiona Broome. She along with other people, remember Nelson Mandela dying in prison in the 1980s rather than from illness in 2013. Here are some others:
➠ The Berenstain Bears: The books are actually spelled “Berenstain Bears”. With “a” in the last syllable, not “e” as so many people remember it. (MIND. BLOWN.)
➠ Henry VIII: The classic portrait of Henry VIII was painted around 1540. There is nothing in the king´s right hand, but many people swear he was holding a turkey leg, as a symbol of the king´s comfortable lifestyle and affluence.
➠ Number of U.S. States: The United States of America is a federal republic consisting of 50 states, right? So why do many people recall the United States including 51 or even 52 states?
➠ Curious George’s Tail: Curious George, the main protagonist of a series of popular children’s books, is a little monkey without a tail. Yet, a lot of us claim to remember seeing him use his tail to swing from the trees.
➠ Darth Vader’s Phrase: The iconic line in the film “The Empire Strikes Back” where Darth Vader tells Luke Skywalker “No, I am your father” is very often misremembered as “Luke, I am your father”.
➠ Snow White Queen’s Phrase: Most people remember the evil queen in Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs saying “Mirror, mirror on the wall”, but if you re-watch any version of the movie you will discover that this phrase has never been there. The real phrase is actually “Magic mirror on the wall”.
➠ Oscar Mayer: The famous brand of hot dogs and lunch meats is actually Oscar Mayer, although so many people remember it as “Meyer”, with an “e” instead of “a” in the first syllable.
➠ Monopoly Man: Do you remember the Monopoly Man wearing a monocle? You’re not the only one. However, if you look at him carefully, you’ll realize he’s not wearing a monocle. He never has.

JUST SO YA KNOW:
If you want to know if a diamond is real, breathe on it. Diamonds are very efficient heat conductors, so the fog from your breath will disappear almost immediately if it’s real. If the fog sticks around a few seconds before clearing up, it’s probably a fake.
(Also, if you got it from a gumball machine, it is also more than likely a fake…)
