BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ When Suki Waterhouse hit the stage at Coachella on Friday, she shared that she and fiancé Robert Pattinson recently welcomed a baby girl. The singer and “Daisy Jones & The Six: actress said to the audience: “I love amazing ladies and I’ve been very lucky to have my own little amazing lady and meet the love of my life.” The update came a week after Waterhouse officially confirmed the arrival of their bundle of joy, sharing the newborn’s first photo on Instagram, alongside the message, “welcome to the world angel”, but she never revealed the baby’s gender.

★ She’s not ready to give up the bling. Theresa Nist, who married Gerry Turner after meeting on the “The Golden Bachelor,” was spotted still wearing her diamond-encrusted wedding band on Friday, despite their separation. Pics show the reality star with the platinum eternity band — which features 18 diamonds — still on her left ring finger. However, she was not wearing the engagement ring that Turner gave to her on the show. In their divorce announcement, Nist said she would have to return that.

★ The box office is united behind “Civil War.” The dystopian thriller earned an estimated domestic total of $26 million over the weekend. After 2 weeks on top of the charts, “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” slid to second place with $15 million, but pushed beyond $150 million domestically to go along with more than $225 million overseas. “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” landed in third place.

★ “The Talk” is coming to an end: CBS revealed on Friday that its daytime talk show has been picked up for a 15th and final season, and will wrap its run in December. ★ The debut of the trailer for the upcoming movie Joker: Folie à Deux was more than Kenough to beat “Barbie”. Numbers for the trailer were bigger than that of the first Barbie trailer, drawing more than 167 million views in its first 24 hours. The night it premiered, it was the #1 trending video on YouTube, and in just 2 days, it’s racked up more than 20 million views on that platform alone. On X, 10 terms related to the movie were trending the night of the launch, including Lady Gaga and her character, ‘Harley Quinn’. SHOOTING THE BULL
WORKING REMOTELY – REALLY, REALLY REMOTELY:
I’ve heard of working from home – but working from home – for a restaurant? That’s new to me. A patron of the New York City Japanese restaurant Sansan Chicken, wrote on X that that the person taking his order was located on a different continent. Cashiers at Sansan Chicken and those at 2 sister chains work from their homes in the Philippines, interacting with diners via Zoom. They’re employed by the company Happy Cashier, which enables restaurants benefit their bottom line by outsourcing labor to other countries. When contacted by a reporter, one remote Sansan employee said that they receive tips, splitting them with service staff who actually do work on the premises. And if you think THAT’S weird, listen to THIS: A reply to that X post shows a remote security guard simultaneously working at multiple buildings in Uruguay. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3x4dfy8h
(What does a remote security guard do if someone does something shady? Ask “remote police” to join the meeting?)
(Having staff in another country not only saves a company money on wages, it saves a TON on booze at the remote staff Christmas party!)

GIBLET POSITIONING SYSTEM?
To combat the growing problem of shoplifting, an Australian supermarket chain is putting GPS locators…on meat. Drakes has become so exasperated with meat theft that it is conducting a trial where cuts of expensive meat are put into transparent cases fitted with GPS locators that allow the product to be tracked. The polpolycarbonate cases are usually used to prevent theft of high-priced items in supermarkets, but Drakes is the first in Australia to use them on meat. The store says it is only using the GPS locators on meat that costs $50-$100 per kilo, “the highest-end meat” they offer. Drakes believes that its expensive meat is often targeted by criminals, who sell it for drugs and other goods.
(Finally! An answer to the age-old question: “Where’s the beef?”!!)
(Wow — $100 per kilo? Apparently at Drakes, the steaks are high!)

NEW GOOD NEWS:
➢ New technology to help drivers escape if their vehicle becomes submerged in water, has been developed by a Kitchener ON company. Automatic Window Opening Systems Technologies says its vehicle escape system works by automatically lowering windows and connecting to emergency services, assisting drivers and passengers with getting out safely. Pressure from water pushing against a car can make it near impossible for the windows to open. And if the electrical system malfunctions, the windows may not work at all. With the new tech, even if the vehicle lands upside down in the water, it will roll itself to an upright position, and delay the opening of the windows until the vehicle is right side up. With the potential of saving hundreds of lives annually, AWOS hopes it can become a standard system in vehicles within the next 3-5 years. (We’re hoping it knows the difference between a river bed and a car wash!) LINK: https://youtu.be/ZqmAHdeF1Qk
➢A homeowner in Florida got the surprise of a lifetime when police showed up at his door. In late March, delivery driver Richard Robertson, who was wanted on felony charges, was spotted by Titusville cops. After arresting the suspect, officers decided to fulfill his pending delivery order. Joe Neu posted ring camera footage of police appearing at his door. It shows an officer explaining: “Your driver got arrested, so we’re delivering your groceries.” Neu’s wife responds: “Wow, I haven’t had that before,” which makes the officer smile and say, “No, but we didn’t want your groceries to go to waste.” After 2 cops carry the groceries inside the home, the resident is heard joking: “I’ll make sure you get his tip.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/ymbku6tc

DID YOU KNOW?
Mark Zuckerberg thought of Facebook’s “poke” feature when he was drunk. The poke was one of the earliest features of Facebook, which Zuckerberg launched in college in 2004 as “The Facebook”. In 2005, when Facebook was still open only to college kids, he told “CBS Sunday Morning”: “I thought about it when I was drunk or something. And people really like poking each other for some reason that I don’t think anyone can really explain.” Lately, improbably, the poke is having a comeback. Facebook recently made the poke button more prominent, and also made it easier to find the page where all your pokes live (try searching “pokes” on Facebook).
