★ Nearly 30 years after ER premiered, the beloved cast of the medical drama is reuniting! On April 22, multiple stars of the long-running series will come together for a live, virtual reunion on the web series “Stars in the House”. The reunion episode will feature cast members George Clooney, Noah Wyle, Gloria Reuben, Anthony Edwards, Julianna Margulies and more. Airing on Earth Day, the special episode will be held in benefit of the Waterkeeper Alliance — the fastest growing global nonprofit focused solely on clean water.

★ “The Bachelor’s” Colton Underwood came out on “Good Morning America” on Wednesday, saying he is the “happiest and healthiest” he’s ever been in his life. Underwood said the last year, amid the pandemic, was one of reflection for him, and he realized that he’s gay. The former football player told Robin Roberts: “I’ve ran from myself for a long time, I’ve hated myself for a long time. I’m gay, and I came to terms with that earlier this year and have been processing it.”

★ Netflix has renewed its biggest new original series, “Bridgerton,” for seasons 3 and 4, before the second season has even finished shooting. Season 2 is currently in production and, in keeping with the novels it’s based on, tells a new romance story — that of ‘Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s’ quest for love. Sadly for fans of the show, Season 1 star Regé-Jean Page’s character, the ‘Duke of Hastings’, will not return for the second season.

★ J.K. Rowling has a new book coming this fall, a holiday children’s story with all-new characters. It was announced Tuesday that “The Christmas Pig,” the story of a boy named Jack and a beloved toy (‘Dur Pig’) which goes missing, will be released worldwide Oct. 12.

• Kanye West – His Nike Air Yeezy shoe prototypes are set to go under the hammer at a Sotheby’s auction. Considered “one of the most prized and sought-after sneakers in existence,” they are expected to sell for over $1 million. He wore them during his performance at the 2008 Grammy Awards, and launched his multi-billion dollar Yeezy brand the following year.
• DMX – His family has shut down a rumor that claims Beyoncé and Jay-Z bought the late rapper’s master recordings for $10million. DMX passed away last week after a stint in an intensive care unit following a heart attack at his home on April 2.
• Britney Spears – Feels the love of her fans. She posted video Monday on her Instagram, saying: “Happy to share especially with a world that is empathetic and concerned with my life … what can I say I’m FLATTERED.” The caption read: “Here’s to another beautiful summer of popsicles and sunbathing.”
• Eddie Van Halen — Four guitars that he played have gone up for sale at online auction house Gotta Have Rock And Roll. • Mick Jagger — teamed up with Dave Grohl on the new song ‘Eazy Sleazy’. Jagger unveiled it on his social platforms and YouTube on Tuesday. He had this to say about it: “It’s a song that I wrote about coming out of lockdown, with some much-needed optimism. • Louis Armstrong — Apple Original Films has greenlit a documentary about the life of the jazz great titled “Black & Blues: The Colorful Ballad of Louis Armstrong”. It will offer a look at his life and legacy as a founding father of jazz, the first pop star, and a cultural ambassador of the United States.
• Miranda Lambert – She and Elle King will open this Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards ceremony with their hit ‘Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)’. Other performances announced on Tuesday include Dierks Bentley covering U2’s ‘Pride (In the Name of Love),’ and Mickey Guyton, who will co-host alongside Keith Urban, performing ‘Hold On’.
• Morgan Wallen — Billboards referring to him as “his fan’s choice” for Entertainer of the Year (even though the Academy barred him from the competition) have popped up around Nashville. At least 6 billboards were positioned at busy intersections near downtown. According to the sign company, they were paid for by “Darlene Ingram and 824 Loyal Fans.”
• Keith Urban — Nicole Kidman helps him put his best foot forward, by giving him (and their 2 daughters) at-home pedicures. While she says that Urban is a “pretty low-maintenance guy,” she said: “I’ll treat my whole family to a spa day and massage their feet and give them pedicures”.
SHOOTING THE BULL
WORKING 9 TO 11:
As we make our way through the pandemic, many employers — and employees — have been forced to re-evaluate where people work, and with our professional and home lives more interconnected than ever before, WHEN we work. And that brings us to THIS: A 2019 study found we only need to work 8 hours a week – that’s right 8 hours a WEEK — to reap the psychological benefits of working. The paper is titled “A shorter working week for everyone: How much paid work is needed for mental health and well-being?” The point of the report is that, according to research, working an 8-hour week is sufficient to gain the ‘wellbeing benefits of employment’, and that employee wellbeing is “similar regardless of the length of the working week, up to 48 [hours]”. The authors explained that the rise of artificial intelligence could result in a “significant shortage of paid work”, but rather than allowing that to lead to job losses, they suggest introducing a shorter working week.

TESTING A NEW TEST:
How about a microchip-style COVID-19 test? That’s exactly what medical researchers at The US Pentagon have come up with. The revolutionary technology was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and was featured on Sunday night’s “60 Minutes” program. The microchip, which is not in widespread use outside the Pentagon, can apparently detect COVID-19 in a person well-before he or she spawns an outbreak, allowing it to be contained “in its tracks”. And just to put a stop to conspiracy theorists before they go rushing to their social media accounts, “60 Minutes” clarified that DARPA’s chip, which is inserted under the skin, can not “track your every move.”
(Hey, if it lets me avoid having one of those huge Q-tips shoved up my nose, I’m all for it!)

DOG HOUSE:
A woman posted a hilariously honest ad Facebook, begging for someone, ANYONE to take in her chihuahua, Prancer, which she describes as “A Chucky doll in a dog’s body”. While some people might focus on the animal’s good traits, Tyfanee Fortuna didn’t sugar coat things. She wrote: “I’ve tried for the last several months to post this dog for adoption and make him sound…palatable. The problem is, he’s just not. There’s not a very big market for neurotic, man hating, animal hating, children hating dogs that look like gremlins. But I have to believe there’s someone out there for Prancer, because I am tired and so is my family. Every day we live in the grips of the demonic Chihuahua hellscape he has created in our home. He’s literally the Chihuahua meme that describes them as being 50% hate and 50% tremble…If you’re wanting to adopt him, you will have to be a single woman who isn’t looking to get a boyfriend, husband or kids, doesn’t like to have friends or family over and doesn’t have any other pets.” She went on, but you get the idea. Thankfully, Prancer also has some good points: “He is loyal beyond belief, although to tell you a secret, it’s … really just a facade for his fear. If someone tried to kill you, I can guarantee he would run away screeching. But as far as companionship, you will never be alone again.” Fortuna says that Prancer’s former owner was an elderly woman who “treated him like a human and never socialized him.” So far, no takers.
(On the plus side, Prancer doesn’t bite the hand that feeds him. He bites the ankles!)

A new study has found that getting out in the sunshine could improve your chances of surviving COVID-19. A team from the University of Edinburgh found that sunnier areas see fewer deaths from the virus. Study authors say sunbathing causes the skin to release a chemical which can alleviate symptoms in COVID-positive individuals. Interestingly, the impact of getting more vitamin D, a nutrient provided by the sun’s rays, couldn’t fully explain the phenomenon. The Scottish team believes sunbathing could act as a simple public health intervention, and light therapies that mimic the benefits of the sun may also be protective. (So those Spring-breakers overcrowding crowding the beaches weren’t as stupid as we thought?)
