The Sheet Hits the Fans!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Comedian and actress Estelle Harris died on Saturday of natural causes at 93. She’s best known for playing George Costanza’s mom on “Seinfeld” and was the voice of ‘Mrs. Potato Head’ in the “Toy Story” movies. Harris, whose distinctive voice was sought after in various roles, unforgettably played ‘Estelle Costanza’ on the 90s sitcom, often bickering with her on-screen husband Jerry Stiller and her fictional son, played by Jason Alexander.

★ Reports that Kanye West is seeking help following his recent conflict with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her new boyfriend Pete Davidson are false, according to his rep. Last week, a “source close to the Kardashians” said that West told his former spouse he is “going away to get help.” The source claimed that West doesn’t plan to make any public appearances or inflammatory social media statements, and will go away to “get better”, for the sake of their kids. However, West’s new Head of Media and Partnerships, Jason Lee, said in a statement that this narrative is not accurate. Quote: “He’s been focused on taking care of himself, being a present and loving father and a creative genius well before all the false headlines we’ve seen as recent.”

★ Will Smith has resigned from the Oscars Academy after slapping Chris Rock on stage during last weekend’s ceremony. In a statement, Smith said: “My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable…I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken.” The Academy said it accepted the resignation and would “continue to move forward” with disciplinary proceedings.

★ Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon filled in everyone who didn’t already know Friday that it was April Fool’s Day, in a stellar tribute to air travel. Kimmel landed in New York City to tape “The Tonight Show” while Fallon went West and hosted “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in Hollywood. As the pair appeared in a side-by-side shot onscreen near the top of both shows, Kimmel said: “Jimmy — a big chunk of your audience almost left when I walked out. I saw sadness.” Fallon replied: “For the first time tonight I got a great sitting ovation.” Through the magic of technology, Red Hot Chili Peppers appeared as musical guest on both shows.

★ Joe Exotic is looking desperate to get divorced. Despite his husband Dillon Passage already claiming he wanted out of his relationship with the imprisoned former zoo owner, Exotic has officially filed for divorce. The couple has been married for 4 years, and Exotic claims the marriage is “irretrievably broken,” and they’ve been estranged for over a year. Passage already has moved on with a new boyfriend, and according to TMZ, Exotic wants to get hitched to a new guy he met behind bars.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Shawn Mendes – How does his ex-Camila Cabello feel about his new breakup song ‘When You’re Gone’? Fans might be surprised to hear that she got a sneak peek before its release. He told E! News: “Ultimately, we both are writers and we both know what it is to make music and what the bigger picture of making art is. I would never really put a song out about her before she would hear it.”
• Miley Cyrus – Friday, she announced that she has tested positive for COVID-19, tweeting: “Traveling around the world, playin’ for a 100,000 people a night & meeting hundreds of fans a day the chances of getting Covid are pretty high…I have Covid now but it was definitely worth it.”
• Elton John — credits teenage AIDS victim Ryan White with saving his life. He told the crowd at his Indianapolis show on Friday that spending time around White’s family caused him to get “clean and sober”. White died at 18 in 1990, after contracting HIV years earlier through a tainted blood transfusion.
• Heart — singer Ann Wilson wants to make another album with sister Nancy for release in 2023 – the 50th band’s 50th anniversary. The siblings have been pursuing solo projects in recent years, but Ann told an interviewer: “I’m writing songs again now. I don’t know if they’ll be for my solo thing or for Heart. But yes, I would like to make another Heart album.”
• Ozzy Osbourne — His next album will feature cameos from Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, according to RHCP’s Chad Smith, who handles most of the drum duties on the record. It’s already been revealed that the still-untitled album, expected this spring, will also feature appearances by guitarists Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Tony Iommi Zakk Wylde.
• (***Check game result first***) Darius Rucker – After South Carolina defeated Louisville in the women’s NCAA semifinal Friday night, he announced on Twitter he’ll perform an impromptu concert for Gamecocks fans if the team takes home the title. Rucker graduated from South Carolina and is from Charleston, S.C.
• Eric Church — is extending an olive branch to angry fans for scrapping a concert so he could attend the North Carolina vs. Duke NCAA Final Four game. Church says he’ll return to Texas in September for a “one of a kind” free show for those who bought tickets to the canceled concert.
• C.W. McCall – the singer best known for his massive 1975 hit ‘Convoy’ has died at 93 after a battle with cancer. He passed away Friday at his home in Ouray CO. McCall, whose real name was Bill Fries, was an advertising executive in the early 1970s, and he first conceived the trucker character ‘C.W. McCall’ for a 1973 bread commercial.
SHOOTING THE BULL
VOLTING DEVELOPMENT:
With the way gas prices have been going lately, it may come as no surprise, but a new report has found that despite their higher initial price tags, electric vehicles are cheaper to own over the long run. The report from Vancouver’s Simon Fraser University calculated total ownership costs of several electric and gas vehicles over 8 years, driving 20,000 km a year. It found that going electric would save drivers a total of more than $19,000. And that was with gas costs at 2021 levels. When you factor in recent pump prices, the savings rose to about $24,000.
(Based on my teen’s driving habits, I think I’d save that on mufflers alone!)
(Don’t worry, I’m sure the government will come up with an EV “fuel tax” to take of that!)
(I can understand why they’re encouraging us to “go green”. I just hate the idea of everyone having the same-colored car…)

LET’S CLEAR THE AIR:
Apparently, it wasn’t an April Fool’s Day joke. Late last week, Dyson, the company famous for vacuum cleaners and hair dryers, unveiled its new noise-cancelling Bluetooth headphones that come with a unique feature – an air purifier. Named the “Dyson Zone”, the headphones supposedly purify airflow to the nose and mouth. They come equipped with electrostatic carbon filters that remove 99% of particulates, according to the company. And despite the face mask-style visor – which flips down and detaches to avoid getting in the way of conversations – Dyson says it was not designed with COVID-19 in mind, but is aimed at those living in cities looking for a way to reduce the effects of air pollution. The Dyson Zone will go on sale this fall, starting at about US $550. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2p9dee39
(But if I’m wearing headphones, I WANT to avoid conversations!)
(They’re also said to be handy for road trips with your burrito-eating brother…)
(Great idea. Too bad you look like a 1970s football player when you wear ’em!)

NEW GOOD NEWS:
➢ A massive Airbus A380 fueled by cooking oil has just completed its first full trial flight. The plane embarked on a successful 3-hour flight in France, while running on Sustainable Aviation Fuel — predominantly made of used cooking oil and waste fats. SAF is carbon neutral because of the CO2 absorbed while its ingredients are being grown, and is a big part of Airbus’ lofty climate-friendly goals. The aviation company wants to have its aircraft certified to fly on SAF by the end of the decade, and bring the world’s first zero-emission aircraft to market by 2035. (French Fly?)

➢ Best friends Marcos San Miguel and Jordan Sloan discovered over the last 18 months just how strong their bond is. The Atlanta teens connected over sports — San Miguel is a star on the basketball court, and Sloan on the football field. In September 2020, 16-year-old Sloan took a hit to the head and suffered brain-stem trauma. He’s been working on regaining his mobility and strength ever since, and goes to rehab 6 days a week. The entire time, San Miguel has been cheering his best friend on, and found a way to support him through basketball: he takes pledges for every charge he takes in a game, and gives Sloan’s family the money to buy items not covered by insurance, like a wheelchair. San Miguel told CBS: “I really wanted just to do whatever I could to help. “He would have done something similar for me.” So far, he’s raised more than $14,800.

ADULT PROBLEMS WE WEREN’T READY FOR:
(According to an “AskReddit” thread…)
✗ Planning meals: “It’s such a chore to feed yourself every day…budgeting meals, and making sure you don’t get sick of the same meal because it was tasty and easy to make.”
✗ Every day on repeat: “Once you are “stable” your life is Groundhog Day. Same job every day, same foods over and over. Same shows and movies and songs…” (She must be listening to [***competition***!)
✗ Dust: “How did I not notice that it’s everywhere?”
✗ Chin hairs: “NOBODY told me females would have to deal with this. I feel like the bearded lady some days!”
✗ Nothing is free: “We spend roughly $1000.00 monthly between taxes and insurance, just to own stuff we already paid for.”
✗ Birthdays: “They will stop being fun and are gonna be a constant reminder that some day you’ll get very old and then…” (Sorry. Say, how ‘bout that local sports team?)

DID YOU KNOW?
An Ohio therapy dog has been named the 2022 Cadbury Easter Bunny. Annie Rose, an English doodle, won a national voting contest among an impressive field of candidates, including a bearded dragon, hedgehog, and llama. She follows in the minuscule footsteps of last year’s winner, a tiny tree frog from Florida named Betty. As Cadbury’s “spokesbunny,” Annie Rose will star in a Cadbury commercial, probably as a rabbit that clucks like a chicken, and take home a $5,000 prize. Cadbury will also donate $20,000 to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. SNEAK PEAK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DPCaCIn2g0
