BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ “Breaking Bad” actress Emily Rios, who played ‘Jesse Pinkman’s love interest ‘Andrea Cantillo’, has become the latest celebrity to come out as a lesbian. The Mexican-American star opens up about her sexuality in a new interview with AfterEllen.com, revealing she used her own experiences to help writers on her new show “The Bridge” (FX) accurately portray the love life of her character, reporter ‘Adrianna Mendez’, who also happens to be gay.

★ TV’s top comedy, “The Big Bang Theory” (CBS), has now postponed production of its 8th season due to contract disputes. Production on the series was due to begin Wednesday but had to be delayed as stars Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, and Kaley Cuoco continue to negotiate a new deal. It’s no surprise the cast wants a bigger piece of the pie. As of last Fall, the series commanded over $325,000 per 30-second ad, the most of any programming outside of NFL games. It’s scheduled to return September 22nd. That now seems unlikely.

★ And Michael Jackson’s iconic Neverland Ranch is being sold. Colony Capital, the investor that owns a primary stake in the property, has reportedly decided to off-load it. Colony bought out Jackson’s $23-million mortgage just as the property was about to go into foreclosure. Jackson’s daughter Paris had hoped to keep Neverland in the family and have it serve as a safe haven for sick children. The 2,500-acre ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley area of California’s Santa Barbara County has an assessed value of $27 million, but real estate experts think the price tag for Neverland could zoom closer to $60 million.

WE’RE TALKING SKINNY:
Diet expert and hypnotherapist John Richardson has written a new book called “Talk Yourself Slim”. He contends that to beat the bulge you have to address behavior first. Treating being overweight with restrictive diets, he claims, is like treating a broken leg with a painkiller. Dubbed the ‘self-talk diet’, Richardson’s hit list includes eating by the clock, assuming that all 3 main meals have to be eaten, and seeing sugar and fat laden foods only as a treat. And here’s where the ‘self-talk’ comes in: You need to become aware of your bad behaviors and tell yourself off when you give in to them. According to Richardson, it’s not food that makes us overweight but the way in which food is eaten. (If you’re using a pitchfork, you’re gonna need a lot of self-talk.)

FIND YOUR FRIEND:
Never lose your pals at a festival again! The new ‘Friend Finder’ uses radio waves to help concert-goers navigate their way. The orange tags are designed to be worn by festival-goers and use radio waves to keep friends in touch instead of relying on mobile phone reception, which can be iffy if not non-existent at large outdoor events. The tracking unit can connect up to 5 people at a range of 1,640 ft (500 m) and uses a beeper and an LED display to point the user in the direction of their peeps. Unfortunately, it’s currently only a prototype and no price or release date has yet been announced. It is, however, being tested out at several events this Summer. (Ever been lost at a festival? What happened?)

HEALTHY FOODS YOU MAY NOT HAVE HEARD OF:
You may have yet to encounter these unusual super-foods, but nutritionists say they’re beautifying, energy-giving, health-boosting, age-defying – and they taste delicious …
✓ Black Rice – Similar to brown rice, but tastes nuttier and is richer in protein.
✓ Cacao Nibs – Used to make chocolate, they are super-high in magnesium, fiber, iron, and antioxidants.
✓ Cavolo Nero – Nutritionists are going mad for this cousin of kale due to its powerful anti-aging benefits.
✓ Chia – These wonder seeds aren’t just for growing ‘pets’; they’re rich in protein and promote optimal digestion.
✓ Hemp – A handful of these nutty super-seeds makes a good blood-sugar-balancing snack or addition to a salad.
✓ Kohlrabi – A member of the cabbage family that’s rich in vitamin C, potassium, and fiber.
✓ Kukicha – A Japanese green tea made from the roasted stalks and stems of the tea plant, it helps with digestion and is super-rich in calcium and vitamin C.
✓ Lingonberries – These Scandinavian berries have potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
✓ Seaweed – Contains plenty of thyroid-supporting iodine, and is protein- and calcium-rich.

URBAN UNDERCUT:
It’s the hairstyle that was once reserved for punks and male models but with a little help from the glossiest and most fashion-forward A-listers, the ‘urban undercut’ is fast becoming the hairstyle du jour. Cara Delevingne, Jessica Alba, Khloe Kardashian, and Miley Cyrus are all currently rockin’ the look. There are several takes on the new style but the idea is to have extremely short hair on one side of the head, whether you shave it or create the illusion with corn-rows. To decide between the ‘undercut’ and the ‘faux undercut’, experts say you need to consider your lifestyle and if it’s something you’d need to hide at work. See it here …

DID YOU KNOW?
August was originally the 6th month of the Roman year which was called Sextilis. In the year 8 BC, Emperor Augustus Caesar persuaded the Roman Senate to change the month’s name to ‘Augustus’ in his honor. (If it weren’t for him, today would be the 1st of Sextilis!)
