BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
Producer George Lucas is following through on his promise that all the “Star Wars” films will be re-released in 3D, announcing “Episode I – The Phantom Menace” is coming in February and Episodes II and III next Fall (cuz $1.9 billion just isn’t enough) . . . Firefighters have been called to Tyler Perry’s sprawling film studio complex in Atlanta GA following reports the building’s roof was aflame; the 2nd blaze at the studio in 4 months (when your first insurance claim doesn’t go through …) . . . LAPD have reportedly named famous person Lindsay Lohan and her assistant Gavin Doyle as suspects in a theft of $100,000-worth of watches and sunglasses during a party, but the host of the bash, Sam Magid, is now saying nothing was stolen (someone sobered up and returned the loot?) . . . Actor Brad Pitt has reportedly chosen the wine for his upcoming wedding and will include his own vintage, ‘Pink Floyd’, made from grapes grown on Brangelina’s Miraval Estate in France where the wedding will be held (homemade wine at a wedding – how tacky!) . . . And 22-year-old actress Kristen Stewart is said to be stressed over the upcoming “Toronto Film Festival” (September 6-16), not due to the premiere of her film “On the Road” but over her pending meet-up with co-star Tom Sturridge, her ex Robert Pattinson’s best friend, whom she wants to ask help restore the relationship (bet he’ll be giving her the what-for).

BS MUSIC NOTES:

• Cee Lo Green – Tonight his semi-permanent residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas begins. The show’s called “Cee Lo Green Presents Loberace” (not a typo). Weird.
• John Mayer – He’s apparently chopped of his trademark shoulder-length brown hair after splitting up with fellow singer Katy Perry. Next he’ll go clothes-shopping?
• Katy Perry – Though she’s now dated a couple of guys since divorcing 37-year-old Russell Brand, she’ll likely be stunned to read Brit tabloid reports suggesting he’s now dating 40-year-old ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell.
• Michael Jackson – Today his mother Katherine & his 3 children have returned to the former family home in Gary, Indiana for a candlelit vigil to mark what would have been his 54th birthday. Tonight Pepsi continues its year-long celebration of the 25th anniversary of his “Bad” album with a concert at NYC’s Gotham Hall, headlined by Ne-Yo.
• Taylor Swift – Insiders say she’s ‘inseparable’ from boyfriend Conor Kennedy, even sending a plane to fly him to her Nashville home because she missed him so much. He’s been with her ever since and his family doesn’t know when he’ll return. Pals admit they wouldn’t be surprised if they elope.
• Will.i.am – Yesterday his track “Reach For the Stars” became the 1st song from Earth to ever be broadcast from another planet. The new song was played by NASA’s ‘Curiosity’ rover, which landed on Mars earlier this month.

• Opening in limited release: “Little Birds”.

TOO STUPID FOR US TO MAKE UP:

• Washington DC – A local resident who ordered a flat-panel TV online has instead had delivered to his door … a high-powered assault rifle. The box was simply left in the hallway of his apartment building. When the buyer contacted police, they told him that it was illegal to transport the gun in a car and therefore it couldn’t be sent back.
– HuffingtonPost.com
• Miami Beach FL – Kung Fu Kitchen & Sushi has introduced ‘Naked Sushi’, a meal artfully arranged on leaves that are strategically placed on a reclining naked model. Originally, the idea was to hire professional models, but restaurant staff eagerly volunteered. Each is ‘professionally bathed’ beforehand. And if you request a male model … he’ll have a thong on.
– “South Florida Sun-Sentinel”
• Oswego IL – A local salesman has put the windshield of his car up for auction because it has a bird dropping he says looks like … Michael Jackson. The 29-year-old says he was driving along US Highway 30 near Big Rock when his Cadillac was dive-bombed. He immediately saw a resemblance to the ‘King of Pop’ (poop?) and says it became more obvious ‘after it hardened’.

OUR VEGETARIAN FUTURE?

Leading water scientists  at the Stockholm International Water Institute have issued one of the sternest warnings yet about global food supplies, saying the world’s population may have to switch almost completely to a vegetarian diet over the next 40 years to avoid catastrophic shortages. Humans derive about 20% of their protein from animal-based products now, but this may need to drop to 5% in order to feed the extra 2 billion people expected to be alive by 2050. (Learn to love broccoli.)

ANIMAL MAGNETISM?

Have you ever noticed that herds of grazing animals all face the same way? That’s the claim of scientists who’ve used images from Google Earth to confirm that cattle tend to align their bodies in a north-south direction. Wild deer also seem to display the behavior, a phenomenon that has apparently gone unnoticed by herdsmen and hunters for thousands of years. Researchers think Earth’s magnetic fields may be what influences the animals. (OK, now why do birds on a wire all face the same way?)

LIFE BY THE NUMBERS:

THIS IS NOW:
Want to know what social media users are taking pictures of RIGHT NOW in 12 different cities around-the-world? The ‘This is Now’ project is a visual composition which uses images in real time from Instagram users worldwide. The tool streams pics instantly as they’re uploaded in order to capture a city’s movement in a fluid story.  The site’s pretty simple. Just click on the clock for each city, and you’re given an unfiltered look at the random photos people are taking there right now. As the site suggests, it can become ‘highly addictive’. (There goes 3 more hours wasted.)

BS BUZZWORDS:
New terms leaking into our lingo …
✓’Do-ocracy’ – An organization or movement where power and respect go to people who get things done. Individuals propose actions, others join in (or not), and then the ‘brand name’ is slapped on the result.
✓’Dual Screening’ – Using 2 electronic screens at the same time, typically watching TV and posting instant reactions online.
✓’Eco-Bot’ – A robot with an ecologically beneficial function. They remain self-sustainable by collecting their energy from material, mostly waste matter, in the environment.

(By law, a good Samaritan in Japan has the right to demand 5-to-20% of the value of the goods that have been returned to the owner. And if the police hold the goods for 6 months and the owner is not found, the finder is given the goods to keep.)
