BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Cash-strapped Armie Hammer says not only has he been forced to sell his pickup truck, he’s downsizing. He and his ex, Elizabeth Chambers both revealed in separate Instagram posts that they are each moving to new homes, over a year after their divorce was finalized. Hammer told followers in a video that he got a new apartment in LA. His career plummeted after he was accused of sexual assault, physical abuse and cannibalistic fantasies in 2021. He also shared that he has to sell his truck because he can’t afford gas prices in California. TV personality Chambers posted an Instagram Story, revealing that she’s “packing and moving for the 5th time in almost 5 years”, with the 2 children she shares with Hammer

★ Michael Madsen’s domestic violence case, where he was accused of shoving his wife DeAnna Madsen, has been dismissed. The Los Angeles District Attorney told TMZ it was due to “insufficient evidence.” The 66-year-old “Kill Bill” star was arrested Aug. 18 and spent part of the weekend in jail amid claims he got physical with his 64-year-old spouse. He also allegedly locked her out of their home.
-DailyMail
★ Brittany Cartwright has officially filed for divorce from Jax Taylor. Court documents filed in LA show “The Valley” star filed for the dissolution of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences, and listed the date of separation as Jan. 24, 2024, a day before she turned 35. Cartwright asked the judge to waive spousal support for her and Taylor, whose real name is Jason Cauchi. She is also seeking joint custody of their toddler, with her ex getting visitation rights. ★ It would appear “Bennifer” is over and done with, and now a Vegas betting website is asking: “Who’s next” for J-Lo, a 4-time divorcee? So far, most of BetOnline’s gamblers have their money on Eminem, with +800 odds. He wrote Lopez into the song ‘I’m Back’ 25 years ago. But Slim Shady isn’t the only one people can imagine with Jenny From the Block. Her ex-fiancé Alex Rodriguez is in second place, tied with the Weeknd. ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ singer Shaboozey is in 3rd place with +1200 odds, tied with English model David Gandy. Other notable — and more humorous — names include JD Vance and Tim Walz, former NFL coach Bill Belichick, Hunter Biden and Samuel L. Jackson.

• Queens Of The Stone Age – have now cancelled all remaining 2024 shows so frontman Josh Homme can recuperate from the emergency surgery that led to a run of European dates being shelved this summer. SHOOTING THE BULL

SICK STATS:
It would seem that these days, we’re becoming less and less willing to “take one for the team” and come into work when we’re not feeling well. Human resources platform Dayforce found that among American workers, sick leave jumped by an astounding 55% from 2019 to 2023. Plus, data from smaller businesses shows that 30% of white-collar workers took sick days last year, a 42% increase from 2019. And it’s Gen Z that seems to be leading the charge – to not tough-it-out. Sick leave among workers under age 35 rose more than other age brackets. Experts attribute this post-pandemic rise in calling out to several factors, including Gen Z’s willingness (and need) to take mental health days.
(Sure, but, speaking as a boss, I don’t understand why people can’t take their mental health days on their day off!)
(If I don’t feel well, I still drag myself into the office. Why? Because I’d much rather get my co-workers sick than my family!)
-MorningBrew, BusinessInsider

DATING CLAIMS:
❑ Forbes polled 1,00 people in the US who have used a dating app to find out the biggest “icks” associated with dating profiles. An “ick” is defined as “a sudden feeling of disgust or dislike, often in response to the actions of another person”. The top ick? Negativity or bitterness in a bio (70%). That was followed by overly-edited or filtered pics (63%). Other icks, in order: Too much emphasis on material possessions (62%), lack of effort put into their profile (60%,) and poor grammar and spelling (60%). The BEST thing to include in your profile to make someone more likely to choose to match with you? A good sense of humor, said 82% of respondents. (I’m so awkward on those things that I’m the only person who ever gave HIMSELF the ick!)
❑ Could “contra-dating” help more people find love? You may have seen the term used on social media and dating sites. It’s defined as intentionally dating people outside or even the opposite of your “normal type.” It’s the practice of being open to people whom you normally would not even consider, which, in turn, could significantly increase your dating pool. Experts say it’s a good idea, as long as you don’t contra-date someone who has conflicting core values to yours. Apparently, many of us have been missing that “special someone” because our primary focus is on our idea of the ‘perfect’ facial features, hair or skin color, or body type. (Great. And for those who would not normally even consider someone in my income bracket – here I am!)

GREAT GAME OF CHINA:
China has released its first-ever major video game “Black Myth: Wukong”. The theme of the adventure game is rooted in Chinese mythology, and after 6 years of development, it has taken off like…well…like Chinese fireworks! Need proof? Check this out:
• Its developer, Game Science, sold 10 million copies in 83 hours, making it one of the fastest-selling games ever.
• The game was so hotly-anticipated that some China-based workplaces gave workers time off to play.
• In Black Myth’s first 24 hours, it became the most-played single-player game on Steam and the second-most-played game on the platform overall.
• The game Black Myth turned profitable on Day 1 — and made $450 million in its first 3 days.
• Players have found the graphics so appealing that there has been a real-life rush to the sites of the temples and shrines featured in the game. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/mvaa5bbk
(Not only that, I’ve YET to find a copy at my local used video game shop – or on Marketplace!)
(I’m not really a gamer, so I have a hard time understanding why an employer would give workers time off to try a new video game. I mean, it’s not like it’s a new “Taylor’s Version”!)

DID YOU KNOW?
As the kids get set to head back to class, here’s something that teachers – and parents may not have thought of. The Wall Street Journal reports that Gen Z’s typing proficiency is dwindling, as young people adapt more and more to touch screens – and keyboarding falls to the wayside, just like cursive did. In fact, some high schoolers are more adept at typing on their iPads or smartphones than on a traditional computer – and one 18-year-old even reported writing an entire 8-page paper on a tablet. (Better a tablet than a smartphone, but I get what they’re saying!)
