BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ “Spider-Man” star Tom Holland is swapping his web-shooters for dancing shoes. He confirmed that he’ll portray legendary actor, dancer and singer Fred Astaire in an upcoming biopic for Sony. News that Holland will take on the persona of the iconic song and dance man comes as little surprise, given his background as a performer. Holland began his acting career on the London stage, playing the title role in “Billy Elliot the Musical” on the West End from 2008 to 2010.

★ HBO Max has teased the first look at next month’s highly anticipated “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts” special. ★ Dave Chappelle and Netflix will continue to work together. The streaming giant has announced its star-studded lineup for next year’s comedy festival, and Chappelle is among the 130 artists participating. It’s been 2 months since his Netflix special “The Closer” was released, and both Chappelle and Netflix faced backlash over content deemed transphobic. “Netflix Is A Joke: The Festival” will take place across 25 venues in Los Angeles April 28-May 8, 2022, with Kevin Hart headlining.

GIFT RAP:
What gift do you get for the person on your list who you have to buy for, but have no idea what? According to a new poll, chocolate or gift cards are your best bet. The survey of 2,000 Americans shows that people believe the best plan is to keep it simple. The most universally enjoyed gifts are chocolate (58%), holiday gift baskets (50%), and gift cards (49%). For two-thirds of gift buyers, those gifts are easy go-tos for the picky people in their lives. 58% say they’re pretty easy to shop for during the holidays, but one in 20 believe they’re impossible to shop for. Nearly half believe they either have everything they could possibly want (47%) or never know what to ask for (45%).
(Well, I have to admit that chocolate definitely beats SOCKS!)
(And for anyone wondering, I take a size large in gift cards…)

STREAMER FEVER:
With the advent of streaming services like, Netflix and HBO Max, binge-watching has become a regular thing for many people. But now, scientists say that binge-watching can be considered an actual addiction. Problematic binge-watching isn’t defined by the number of episodes watched or a specific number of hours spent in front of the TV or computer. As with other addictive behaviors, more important is whether it is having a negative impact on other aspects of the person’s life. Here are the “6 core components” of addiction, in relation to binge-watching:
1. Binge-watching is the most important thing in the person’s life. (Depends what’s on…)
2. The person binge-watches as a way of changing their mood: to feel better in the short-term or to escape from something negative in their life.
3. It compromises key aspects of the person’s life, like relationships and education or work.
4. The number of hours spent binge-watching each day has increased significantly over time.
5. The person experiences psychological and/or physiological withdrawal symptoms if they’re unable to binge-watch.
6. If the person manages to temporarily stop binge-watching, when they do so again, they go straight back into the cycle they were in previously. (I’d expect this whenever season 2 of “Squid Game” is released…)
To break your binge-watching habit: Stop watching mid-way through an episode, so as to avoid cliff-hangers, which encourage you to watch more. Also, set daily limits, and finally, if you feel it is taking over your life, seek a referral from your doc to see a clinical psychologist. Most addictions are symptomatic of other problems.
(I can’t wait to see where THIS is going to go…)
(I want to see the new “Purge movie”…But first I have to binge the first 4…)

SWEDISH FOR COMMON SLEEPING AREA:
(***BS Fun Fact: IKEA Singapore recently posted an infographic saying that its name is actually pronounced “EE-kay-UH,” not “AI-kay-UH” or “Ai-kee-UH”, as most tend to pronounce it. Use this info any way you like…***)
Have you ever been strolling around in an Ikea store, and thought, “Wow, wouldn’t it be nice to take a nice nap right there in a display bed?” A snowstorm trapped 6 customers and about 2 dozen staff in the Aalborg, Denmark store one night last week, forcing them to hibernate in the showroom beds overnight. 30 centimeters of snow fell on Wednesday evening by closing time. The store manager, Peter Elmrose, said it was too dangerous to drive, and since he couldn’t let his employees take that kind of risk, he also invited the 6 customers in the store to sleep over. Those in the IKEA shop were offered shelter and food — chips and Swedish cinnamon rolls – at the staff canteen, and spent much of the night watching TV. According to Elmrose: “It was a really nice evening…Everyone had a full night’s sleep, our mattresses are good.”
(Did they have to assemble them first?)
(Tell the truth: Was it really that bad out, or could no one find their way out of the store?)

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “National Christmas Tree Day”, a good day to put yours up. Some go out and cut down a real tree, tie it to the roof of their car, and bring it home. Others drag a box out of the attic or basement, fluff up the branches of an artificial tree, and stick them into a post. (But at least there’s a much-lower chance of vermin escaping into your home that way…)
• “Brownie Day”, celebrating the chewy chocolate in a pan that you just can’t quit eating.
• “Pretend to Be a Time Traveler Day”, created in 2007 by the Koala Wallop online community. The basic premise is to pretend to be someone from the past or future who’s somehow ended up in the present. (No comments about my wardrobe, please…)
• “Take It In the Ear Day”, a day to learn how to accept criticism graciously. (What did ya THINK it was about?)
• “National Lard Day”, while traditionally viewed as unhealthy, lard can be used to incorporate healthy fats into a nutritional diet. Lard Day showcases how it can be used and how it is considered a better fat option than butter or grease. If you love lard (and don’t have anything better to do), share its benefits on social media using #nationallardday
