BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Comic Hannibal Buress was arrested in Miami Saturday night for disorderly intoxication.  A video shared widely on Twitter shows him arguing with police about whether or not they have probable cause to detain him. During the confrontation, Buress can also be heard telling one of the officers that the other cop is “just salty because I roasted his (butt).” Buress posted bail Sunday morning.  By that point, the hashtag #FreeHannibalBuress was already trending.

★ When it comes to Disney’s Frozen, everyone has a favorite sister: Anna or Elsa. Well, it looks like Kristen Bell’s children have made their decision very clear, and it’s not Anna. On Saturday, the actress, who voiced Anna in the hit animated film, posted a particularly grim photo of their family’s Frozen Christmas ornament, featuring an apparently decapitated Anna.  She captioned it “This will be the cover of my autobiography and it will be titled, ‘My children keep me grounded’.

★ Chris Evans has shown the world just what kind of actor he is.  After seeing a video of a young boy who is the victim of bullying, Evans has invited the teen to the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ next year along with his mother. Speaking in the original video that his mother posted to social media, young Keaton Jones said through tears: “Why do they bully? What’s the point of it? People that are different don’t need to be criticised about it. It’s not their fault.

★ Patrick Stewart wants to return as Jean-Luc Picard if Quentin Tarantino directs the next ‘Star Trek’ movie.  According to Stewart, “One of my dreams is to work with Tarantino. I admire his work so much, and to be in a Tarantino film would give me so much satisfaction, so if he is going to direct something to do with Star Trek and there was the possibility of dear old Jean-Luc showing up again and doing that for Mr. Tarantino, I would embrace it.”

★ Jeffrey Dean Morgan is hinting that he wants the role of Batman.  Although he has been one of the frontrunners to take over as Bruce Wayne for some time, during a recent panel at ‘Walker Stalker Con’, he was asked about his hopes about the future of the DC Extended Universe…to which he replied: “There’s a role in the DC Universe I’ve got my eye on.”  Warner Bros. will of course have sworn Morgan to silence, but some writers say that it is pretty obvious that talks are taking place and he will likely be taking on the Batman role sooner rather than later.  He has  already played Thomas Wayne (Batman’s father) in the flashback sequence shown in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’.

• “A Gift to Remember” (HALLMARK): A bicycle collision leaves a pedestrian without his memory, so the cyclist involved helps him try to figure out who he is, and in the process, she takes risks and discovers things about herself.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Ed Sheeran – thinks it was ”healthy” deleting his Twitter account. He decided to take a break  and says it is the best thing he has done because it has stopped him reading negative things about himself. (Someone has mean things to say about Ed Sheeran?)
• Niall Horan – wants to collaborate with Justin Bieber on a fundraising single for victims of the California fires.  Bieber recently revealed that wants to help those who have been affected, and Horan, who has a home in Los Angeles, says a charity single is a “no-brainer”.
• Fifth Harmony – Dinah Jane and Leona Lewis have shared a new Christmas medley. The medley features original verses written by both Lewis and Dinah, as well as traditional holiday standards including ‘Silent Night’ and ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’.
• Journey – guitarist Neal Schon has released his first-ever holiday EP. The four-song set includes ‘Ave Maria’, ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’, and instrumental renditions of Journey hits ‘Open Arms’ and ‘Faithfully’. (Um, which one is the holiday song?)
• Guns N’ Roses – has been named by Forbes as the highest earning rock artist of 2017, raking in about $84 million.  Here are the top 5 earning music acts:

• John Mayer – Dead &Company–with John Mayer back in the fold after recovering from recent emergency surgery–are set to get back on the road to make up for the shows they missed due to his emergency appendectomy.  The New Orleans show is now set for Feb. 24, while the band’s Ft. Lauderdale gig has been rescheduled for Feb. 26, and they will play Orlando on Dec. 27.
• Blake Shelton – is set to have a very special guest in attendance when he plays in Moline, IL, in February. He will host 8-year-old Sammy Hodgett, survived a furious bout with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia three years ago.  The boy was in a coma for six weeks, and had to relearn how to walk, talk and eat again.  Shelton extended the invitation after seeing a story that his song ‘Boys ‘Round Here’ inspired young Sammy during his recovery.
• Trace Adkins – pays respect to those who serve in America’s military with his new video for “Still a Soldier.” It features a day in the life of real-life Army Specialist Bryan Gerwitz. Interspersed throughout the clip are images of Adkins and his band performing the song, and Gerwitz spending time with his family.
• Garth Brooks – opened up the first of  seven dates in Nashville on Saturday night.  At a pre-show press conference, he answered the question of whether there would be any guest stars joining him onstage with this:  “There’s a dream of mine that started with a Carrie Underwood post of her husband [retired NHL player Mike Fisher] singing ‘The River’ three years ago.  And I told him, come on, let’s finish it here!” According to Brooks, he has called Fisher “a hundred times” to invite him onstage.

FREAKY-DEAKY DUTCH:
A campaign in the UK urging motorists to open car doors using the opposite hand when exiting a vehicle is being greeted with just what you would expect…a lot of skepticism.  Cycling UK has written to the government calling for the launch of a campaign encouraging all car occupants to learn the ‘Dutch reach’, which involves using their ‘far’ rather than ‘near’ hand when opening the car door.  The idea is that it forces a vehicle’s occupants to twist into all kind of unnatural positions, thereby almost forcing people to take a look and see if there happens to be a bicycle coming down the road before they open the door.  In the UK, that would mean a driver opens the door with their left hand.  In North America, we would open it with our right.  Some proponents of the idea even suggest you roll the window down and open the door with the outside door handle.  Why is it called the ‘Dutch reach’?  The method is thought to have originated in the Netherlands.
(Just a guess here, but maybe it would be more popular if they came up with a name that didn’t sound like something that someone would try on you in a sauna…)

HOW NOT TO GAIN WEIGHT OVER THE HOLIDAYS:
For many, the holidays are a time when you give yourself a get-of-jail-free card in terms of your diet.  According to Dr. Jonny Bowden, a nutritionist and weight loss expert, there are two key things you should do to end the holidays at the same weight you started them:
➠  Write down what you plan on eating before your meals: Map out what you’re going to eat for the day when you wake up first thing in the morning — when your blood sugar is stable and you’re not craving any particular foods. This should involve visualizing each of your meals and deciding what you’re going to let yourself have and what you’re going to avoid.  You might not stick to your proactive food diary completely, but you’re likely to have more discipline when someone brings a fresh-baked plate of cookies to the office.  (And really: How hard is it to wake up and write ‘Everything!!!’)
➠ Start your meal with a soup or salad: Eating a small green salad (without a lot of dressing), or a bowl of soup (something broth-, not cream-based) can keep people from overeating during a meal.  A small appetizer can help to take the edge off your appetite, discouraging you from eating everything in sight in an attempt to conquer your hunger.  (To me, salad tastes like I’d rather be fat!)
(Or be like me, and accept that you are going to gain weight at Christmastime, and concentrate on getting taller instead!)
(My favorite part of the holiday season is blaming my long-term weight gain on the holiday season!)
