Don’t Take Any Sheet, Unless It’s Pure Bull!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Brian Austin Green and his girlfriend, Sharna Burgess, are expecting. The baby is Green and Burgess’ first together, but his fourth overall. He shares 3 sons with ex-wife Megan Fox. Fox and Green split in 2020 after almost 10 years together, and finalized their divorce in 2021. The baby news comes 2 weeks after Fox announced her engagement to Machine Gun Kelly.

★ Chelsea Handler was forced to call off a few Oregon shows on her (ahem) “Vaccinated & Horny” comedy tour after suffering a health scare. She apologized to fans on her Instagram Story after calling off her Friday and Saturday shows. In a clip filmed in hospital, she assured fans she was okay and would find alternate dates for the canceled shows, saying “I had a scare at the hospital, and I don’t have COVID, and I’m okay, but I had to reschedule my shows.” She then added” “And I’m not pregnant”.

★ “The Tinder Swindler,” an eye-opening documentary about a notorious con man who used the dating app to defraud multiple women, could be getting the movie treatment. Netflix is in talks with producers about dramatizing the wild documentary that’s likely to make any Tinder user’s blood run cold. The Tinder Swindler doc debuted on the streaming service last Wednesday, and has already cracked the platform’s Top 10. It tells the story of Israeli fraudster Simon Hayut, who conned Scandinavian women into parting with hundreds of thousands of dollars by pretending to be the son of an Israeli diamond tycoon.

★ With its Joe Rogan deal in a white-hot spotlight, Spotify has pulled an additional 70 episodes of the podcaster’s show from the platform. The shows removed Friday were recorded between 2009-18, long before the pandemic. But singer India Arie recently announced she was pulling her music and podcasts off Spotify, “for reasons other than COVID interviews” but for his language around race.” She subsequently posted a video clip on Instagram compiling 24 times Rogan used a racist slur on his podcast. Rogan has apologized.

SHOOTING THE BULL

WHAT WORDS TO WORDLE WITH:
Wordle has definitely taken over the internet. And one of the keys to success in the game is a good starter – a word that contains the most common letters, or as many vowels as possible. With that in mind, here are some top opening words to help you win, according to the experts . . .
• Adieu:  It knocks out 4 vowels at once, which is very handy, and by default, gives you an idea of if the fifth vowel is in there. (But it’s not English?)
• Soare:  This old word for a young hawk was determined to be the best starting word by an engineer at Slack, who used data to discern the best strategy.
• Arose:  A guy who hosts a Microsoft Excel YouTube tutorial channel determined that s, e, a, r, and o are the 5 most common letters, so he figures that a word using those 5 letters will work pretty well.
• Another tip: Never end a word with an “s.” There are no plural words in the possible solutions list.
(How, exactly does one become a Wordle expert? The game’s only been around for, like, 5 minutes!)
(I’LL say Wordle has taken over the internet. The last thing I remember getting this much attention online involved a big bare butt cheek…and another big bare butt cheek!)

NEW GOOD NEWS:

➢ Leaving her ex, Amazon Exec Chairman Jeff Bezos, far behind in the generosity department, MacKenzie Scott, has donated $133.5 million to educational non-profit Communities in School, an organization that helps students navigate issues inside and outside of the classroom. Communities in School works in 2,900 schools in America, reaching a total of about 1.6 million kids. Their goal is to support students at risk of dropping out and provide resources to help young people be successful. Partly because of Scott’s donation, CIS says it will now be able to expand its operations. Since her divorce from Bezos, Scott has donated more than $8.5 billion to organizations focused on a range of issues. According to Forbes, Scott has given away approximately 18% of her fortune. Bezos, by comparison, has reportedly given away a measly 1%. (In a world of Jeff Bezos’s, be a MacKenzie Scott!)
➢ An 800-mile, $78 journey brought a smiling snowman to a Florida classroom full of kids. When kindergarten teacher Robin Hughes, realized almost all the kids in her classroom had never laid eyes on frozen precipitation after reading a book about snow with them, she asked her sister, Amber, of Louisa KY if she would mail her some, on the off-chance that it snowed there this year. Fast forward to January 8th, and hearing of a coming Kentucky snowstorm, the teacher asked her sister to build a snowman for her classroom. And thus, “Lucky” was born, with blueberries, carrots, and twigs for eyes, a nose, and arms.  Sealed in a temperature-controlled package with ice, Lucky flew priority USPS to Riverview, FL. Lucky was received at the school with utter wonderment from the children, who Hughes says just wanted to touch him, and asked if he was going to “come to life”. Now, Lucky is kept cold in the school cafeteria, and brought out for other classes to demonstrate the majesty of snow. (Maybe those kids would like to return the favor, and send some sunshine north!)

APPLE RECORDS:
This year, Apple will launch a record-breaking number of new products and now the company has accidentally revealed the first of them. According to “91Mobiles”, Apple has filed official model numbers for 2 new iPads and 3 versions of a new budget iPhone, and inadvertently leaked their prices. According to import data filed by Apple, the 3 new budget iPhones will be listed at US $300, a new iPad will go for $500-700, and the new iPads for $300.
(Sure glad I just paid $600 for a USED one!)
(I’m just gonna say that if they’re accidentally leaking info about their own products, what does that say about the security of your info?)

THE 10 WORST FOODS FOR YOUR HEALTH:

(According to experts…)
1. Bacon: Darn, I saw that coming. The World Health Organization has classified bacon in the same category as tobacco when it comes to carcinogens. (What about ‘smoked bacon’?)
2. Turkey bacon:  Sorry, you can’t go there either. It’s the processing that makes the meat harmful. So turkey bacon isn’t a healthier substitute. (Oh, well – back to bacon!)
3. Fried food:  In general, fried food is higher in fat, salt, and calories, all of which are horrible for heart health. (This is why I got an air fryer that I have no idea how to use…)
4. Potato chips:  They’re low in nutrition, and high in cheap fats and sodium. (I suppose you’re going to say the same thing about Doritos?)
5. Added sugars:  If you see added sugars on the nutrition panel of packaged foods, steer clear. It has essentially zero nutritional value and increases risk of obesity and metabolic disease. (And cavities!)
6. Processed oils:  Grapeseed, soybean, canola, cottonseed, corn, and vegetable oils are heated to extremely high temperatures during processing, which oxidizes the oils, creating damaging free radicals.
7. Hydrogenated fats:  Common in packaged foods, they have been shown to increase mortality rates. (You’ve just ruined peanut butter for me!)
8. Refined carbs:  These include white bread, white rice and pasta, pastries and pizza. Refined grain products promote inflammation, are generally higher in sugar and are largely stripped of fiber and nutrients.
9. Breakfast sausages:  See bacon. (No one said the world is fair…)
10. Any other processed meats:  Hot dogs, deli meats, packaged bologna, beef jerky, pepperoni and others should all be avoided or eliminated from your diet completely. They all contain chemicals that are not present in fresh meat, and are classified as group 1 carcinogens. (Uh, do you think they’re trying to tell us something?)

DID YOU KNOW?
IKEA is making 3-D printed vegan meatballs. As you know, no trip to IKEA is complete without enjoying the company’s iconic Swedish meatballs. Now, as a way to invite prospective candidates to join their expanding tech team in Europe, the company is serving up the 3D-printed vegan meatballs during job interviews, as part of its newly-launched “Taste the Future” recruitment campaign. IKEA has committed to offer 50% plant-based meals in its restaurants by 2025 as part of its efforts to make health-conscious and sustainable options easy, desirable, and affordable.
