BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ After 21 years on-air, Jimmy Kimmel could soon be stepping away from late-night TV. Speaking with the LA Times, the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host, who will MC the Oscars on March 10, teased the possible end of his hit ABC late-night show. Quote: “I think this is my final contract…I still have a little more than 2 years left on my contract, and that seems…like enough.” However, he did hedge his comment, pointing out: “Each time I think that, and then it turns out to be not the case.

They will be followed by host Josh Brolin and musical guest Ariana Grande on March 9.

★ Kelly Rowland is welcome back on “Today” anytime, even after that dressing room debacle. Hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager have nothing but love for the singer/actress after she stepped down as cohost during last Thursday’s show at the last minute due to an issue with her dressing room. Rita Ora stepped in, hosting with Kotb while Hager was away. On Tuesday’s show, Hagar innocently asked: “Did I miss anything?” Addressing reports of Rowland’s exit, Kotb said: “I have great love and admiration for Kelly Rowland. I adore her, and I want her to come back on our show, and I want her to host again.” Then she added: “She can share my dressing room! We’ll be in it together!”

★ Stephen King recently took to X to question why Warner Bros. is holding back its new film adaptation of “Salem’s Lot,” based on King’s 1975 horror novel about a writer who returns to his hometown in Maine and discovers its residents are becoming vampires. The movie went into development in 2019 and was filmed in 2021. A theatrical release was planned for September 2022, but it has yet to see the light of day. King wrote: “I’ve seen the new SALEM’S LOT and it’s quite good. Old-school horror filmmaking: slow build, big payoff. Not sure why WB is holding it back…Who knows. I just write the [BLEEP] things.”

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Beyoncé — In conjunction with the launch of her new haircare line, Cécred, she has announced a $500,000 cosmetology school scholarship fund through her BeyGOOD charity. A statement says: “Hairstylists have an immense impact on the people in their chairs. They create a sacred space where we can…express ourselves through our hair. We’re honored to give back to this amazing community.” LINK: http://tinyurl.com/ysu44zuy
• Justin Timberlake is teasing more new music. He shared a video of him belting out his upcoming tune, ‘Drown’ on a piano. He wrote in the caption: “Made it out to London, still recovering from this flu. But trying to power through. So excited for new music and everything coming this week.” The song drops tomorrow. LINK: http://tinyurl.com/yc938my6
• Twenty One Pilots – seem to be launching their next era in a stealthy way. Mysterious yellow and red billboards and posters have been popping up all over the world, and letters have been popping up in fans’ mailboxes sent from the “Sacred Municipality of Dema”. This builds off lore from 2018’s “Trench” and 2015’s “Blurryface” LINK: http://tinyurl.com/22jkzxv6
• Oasis – Liam Gallagher claims he approached his brother Noel about reforming the group for a 2024 tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut album “Definitely Maybe”. He told Stereogum: “It was a big tour, a lot of money. He turned it down.” Instead, Liam is celebrating the album on a solo tour.
• AC/DC — To honor their 50th anniversary, Columbia Records has announced it will release the band’s catalog as gold-colored vinyl LPs. Each limited-edition record comes with an album-specific print featuring new artwork, suitable for framing. They’re available for pre-order now. LINK: https://acdc.lnk.to/50vinyl
• Lainey Wilson – Don’t count her among those who think Beyoncé should stay away from country music. The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year shared her thoughts with Extra on Bey going country with ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’. Quote: “I love it. The more the merrier…it’s about that storytelling. It’s just about making people feel at home, and everybody wants to feel at home.”
• Cody Johnson – Recently posted video shows him stop a show to help a woman in need of medical care. No word on where, but he played in Florida over the weekend. The clip shows Johnson say to the crowd: “This is not a Travis Scott concert. We will stop to help people out. As a piano plays softly, he continues: “This isn’t about me. So, we’re going to stop to take care of this young lady.” LINK: http://tinyurl.com/ybf4mzuw
• Garth Brook – has finally announced an official opening date for his Friends in Low Places bar. His downtown Nashville honky-tonk includes 4 floors, nearly 55,000 square feet of fun and a menu created by his wife, Trisha Yearwood. While portions of the place have been open for awhile, the official grand opening has been set for March 7.
• Loretta Lynn – Her granddaughter is competing on “American Idol” this season. A teaser reel that aired on the season premiere on Sunday showed a glimpse of a young woman wearing a green hoodie, who steps in front of the judges and humbly states: “My grandma’s a country singer.” It has been reported that the young woman is musician Emmy Russell, one of Lynn’s many talented grandchildren.
SHOOTING THE BULL
BRAINS CAN:
Deep down, we always knew it – and now scientists are backing us up: Men’s and Women’s brains DO work differently. Researchers at Stanford University demonstrated the differences between the brains of men and women by using artificial intelligence, which was more than 90% accurate in differentiating between sexes based on “hotspots” shown in brain scans. The AI was able to detect differences in the areas of the brain which are responsible for self-focus and introspection; for forming habits and rewards; and the area that regulates emotions. The study author says this research reveals that “sex plays a crucial role” in cognitive development and aging.
(Uh, you might want to rephrase that, buddy. How about “Gender plays a crucial role”? We don’t want to give anyone the wrong impression!)
(Wow. Who would ever have thought that men and women’s brains regulate emotions differently? That was sarcasm, in case you missed it!!)

ODDBALL UPDATE:
➢ You that anti-aging guru, Brian Johnson? The Los Angeles “biohacker” who is spending $2 million per year to supposedly reverse the aging process? Yeah, that guy. Well, now this modern-day ‘Dorian Gray’ claims he has beaten both balding and graying hair. In a new YouTube video, the 46-year-old says that by now, “genetically, I should be bald”. He then takes viewers through his 3 tactics to keep his locks looking luscious, a part of his “Project Blueprint” initiative to stay forever young. Those tactics are:
1. Red light therapy: He puts on a red light therapy cap for 6 minutes each morning, to “increase blood flow and also stimulate hair follicle activity.
2. Topical treatment: Next, he applies a topical treatment. He points out that while topicals like Rogaine and Minoxidil 5% are both effective, he uses a special concoction (which is probably WAAAY more expensive!).
3. Microneedling: To “enhance the effects of the topicals”, a healthcare provider uses a roller with small, fine needles on it, moving over areas of hair loss to create punctures in the skin. This is believed to promote hair growth.
In the video, he also provides tips on beating graying hair. (Wow! All this every morning? I thought he got up at 4am because he’s weird. Turns out, he gets up that early to have his hair done!) LINK: http://tinyurl.com/yfkrdhvs
➢ He’s the ‘Borat’ of the equestrian world! Australian Shane Rose saw his plans to compete in the Paris Olympics this summer thrown into doubt — after he wore a mankini at a showjumping event this month. The outfit — as made famous by the movie character Borat – led to an investigation by Equestrian Australia, which could have blocked him from competing. He was eventually cleared of wrongdoing. Rose wore a bright orange G-string at a costumed non-professional event called the Wallaby Hill Extravaganza. Complaints were filed over the appropriateness of his (ahem!) uniform, although it remains unclear whether he actually violated any part of the no-nonsense sport’s code of conduct. (Apparently ‘budgie-smuggling’ is allowed?)

DRINKING ALL DAY FOR SUNDAY NIGHT?
Sure, the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl, but according to the app BACtrack, the Tennessee Titans are the real NFL champs – when it comes to…uh, beer! BACtrack, which allows users to track their Blood Alcohol Content level to make sure that no one is driving when they shouldn’t, compiled its user information from over 28,000 football fans, and figured out which fans drink the most at NFL games.
• The top 5, sorted by average blood alcohol content, are…
1. Tennessee Titans: 0.093% BAC
2. Pittsburgh Steelers: 0.088%
3. Indianapolis Colts: 0.085%
4. Atlanta Falcons: 0.085%
5. New Orleans Saints: 0.080% (You’ll note that only one of these teams made the playoffs. Coincidence?)
• The bottom 5…
1. Kansas City Chiefs: 0.051% BAC
2. Washington Commanders: 0.058%
3. New York Giants: 0.058%
4. Baltimore Ravens: 0.059%

And where are the “party” NFL teams like the Bills Mafia, and the Cheeseheads of the Packers? The Bills check in at #20 on the list, with 0.065%, while the Packers are at #7, with 0.078%. (I think the Panthers TEAM was drunker than that!)

DID YOU KNOW?
In honor of the Lunar New Year, Starbucks has added pork-flavored coffee to its menu at some stores in China. Named the “Abundant Year Savory Latte,” the brand describes it as having an “interesting” flavor.
The “braised pork latte” is made by combining pork flavor sauce with espresso and steamed milk, with extra pork sauce and pork breast meat for garnish, according to the Starbucks delivery app. (Never before have I needed a toothpick with my coffee!)

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Be Humble Day”. Just for one day, try not to brag or to boast; and try not to talk about your success or accomplishments. Why? Because humility is a good thing. (Then tomorrow, you can brag about how humble you were!)
• “Margarita Day”. Tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and ice are everything you’ll need to celebrate … well, that and some good friends. And a tropical beach wouldn’t hurt…
• “Chili Day”, observed annually on the 4th Thursday of February. It’s a great excuse to put together a perfect pot of spicy chili. What’s your secret ingredient?
• “Cook a Sweet Potato Day”, And the best way to do that? Sweet badayda fries. Mmm!
• “Walking the Dog Day”, to encourage exercise for both dogs and their parents. Walking your dog helps build strong bonds through quality time spent together. Even if you walk your dog every day, today, explore a new area. (So, we’re not talking about the yo-yo trick here?)
• “Supermarket Employees’ Day”. This industry-wide initiative, which first took place in 2021 to commemorate the contributions of the grocery industry’s staff, especially during COVID lockdowns, is now an annual affair. Today, we honor their hard work and contributions to the community. (And we remember that those outrageous prices aren’t their fault!)
• “World Thinking Day”, an annual celebration of Girl Scouts/Girl Guides founders Lord & Lady Baden-Powell’s joint birthday. Scouts & Guides are encouraged to “think” of good deeds.
• “National Wildlife Day”, to bring awareness to the number of endangered animals that need to be preserved and rescued. This day, formally observed on Sept. 4, has added the date of Feb. 22, to honor the memory and birthday of Wildlife Warrior, Steve Irwin. LINK: http://www.nationalwildlifeday.com/
