The former “Friends” star turns 50 on July 25th and says he’s starting to take stock of his life and wants to achieve everything he planned to do in his career in the near future. One goal in his personal life is to spend more time with Marina, his 13-year-old daughter with ex-wife Melissa McKnight.

★ Jordan Peele’s horror film “Get Out” has not only scared up a bundle at the North American box office (debuting at #1 with $30.5 million), it’s also chalked up a very rare 100% rating on the film review website Rotten Tomatoes. The movie stars Allison Williams (“Girls”) and Brit actor Daniel Kaluuya (“Skins”) as an interracial couple who make a series of disturbing discoveries during a trip to meet her parents.

★ And Beyoncé & Jay Z will know the gender of their expected twins in 2 weeks, according to recent comments from Bey. The superstar couple revealed earlier this month that they’re expecting 2 siblings for 5-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, but have remained coy about the actual due date. However, a baby’s gender is usually determined between 16-and-20 weeks into pregnancy. If that’s the case, Beyoncé is approximately 18 weeks’ pregnant, which puts her expected due date at the end of July.

• David Bowie – The late star’s lawyers have issued a notice in London’s “The Times” for any ‘secret heirs’ to come forward. Anyone who believes they have the right to inherit a portion of his estate, including any secret love children, have 2 months to present their claims.
• Garth Brooks – He’s celebrated the 5-million ticket mark on his current world tour by surprising a married couple with a Lexus SUV and a Nissan truck at one of his weekend concerts in Edmonton AB. The winning couple also picked up more than 10-grand in other gifts.
• George Michael – In his first interview since George’s death, former boyfriend Kenny Goss says he and George should never have split up. The Texan art dealer and the late pop star had a 13-year relationship from 1996-2009.
• Kesha – She’s joining Drake Bell and Ron Funches among the voice actors in the semi-autobiographical comedy series “Highly Gifted”, based on the experiences of cartoon creators the Lehrer Boys.
• Lorde – The 20-year-old is thought to releasing her new album in March following the airing of a cryptic TV ad in her native New Zealand. The ad wraps with the messages ”2.3.17 NYC” and ”3.3.17 NZ” the dates likely varying due to the time difference Down Under.
• Nicki Minaj – Her clothing line is being discontinued by Kmart across America. The 34-year-old teamed with the retailer 3 years ago to create an exclusive custom apparel line, but the chain has now decided to pull the plug on the project.
• One Direction – Liam Payne, who’s just moved in with his expectant girlfriend Cheryl, is currently working on his debut solo album and is producing the venture himself.
• Rihanna – Today she accepts Harvard University’s ‘Humanitarian Of the Year Award’. She’s being fêted for her charitable work with the Clara & Lionel Foundation Scholarship Program, named after her grandmother & grandfather, and her efforts in promoting education.
• Sheryl Crow – She says she wants her new clothing line to be as “authentic” as her music. She’s teaming with Home Shopping Network on a new collection inspired by pieces in her own closet: T-shirts, jeans, and jackets priced from $40-to-$300.
• Tupac Shakur – The 1996 BMW 750iL that he was shot in is up for sale at an asking price of … $1.5 million. The iconic bullet-riddled car with 90,000 miles on it has been restored and changed hands multiple times. Kelly Blue Book suggests the vehicle should be worth $2,500.

• “Allied” ( R-Rated War Drama ): In 1942, an intelligence officer in North Africa (Brad Pitt) encounters a female French Resistance fighter (Marion Cotillard) on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. When they reunite in London, their relationship is tested by the pressures of war.
Director Robert Zemeckis. Co-stars Vincent Ebrahim, Xavier De Guillebon.
• “Doctor Strange” ( PG-13 Fantasy Adventure ): If superhero movie fatigue has already set it, this might be the one that will get audiences back on track with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Benedict Cumberbatch stars in the title role, with an appealing ensemble supporting cast that includes Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton.
• “Moonlight” ( R-Rated Drama ): A timeless story of human self-discovery and connection, this movie chronicles the life of a young black man from childhood to adulthood as he struggles to find his place in the world while growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami FL. Stars Mahershala Ali, Shariff Earp, Duan Sanderson. It won 3 Oscars, including ‘Best Picture’.
• Also being released: “Fuller House: The Complete 1st Season” (TV); and “Utopia” (Documentary).
SYRUP GOING HI-TECH:
Maple syrup is priced like ‘liquid gold’ partly due to the long process of getting it from tree to bottle. But new technology is promising to cut the time it takes to boil maple sap into syrup in half. A new machine can remove more water from sap, leaving a higher sugar content in half the time and energy it usually takes. University of Vermont’s Proctor Maple Research Center has produced its first batch with the new process in the past week. The flavor produced with the new machine is said to be ‘acceptable’, and the center continuing to strive to make it even better. The North American Maple Syrup Council is looking into the practice to make sure it’s within guidelines. It’s an investment of tens-of-thousands of dollars; industry officials say the cost is about 15%-to-20% higher than current technology. (So much for cheaper syrup then.)

HOW LONG YOU’RE CONTAGIOUS:
Next to the sniffling and coughing caused by a cold or flu, anxiety over passing it along to friends and family might be the most unpleasant part of being sick. But are you in danger of being contagious the entire time you’re ill? A new study suggests the answer is … pretty much. Even though symptoms might diminish over time (a common cold normally lasts 3-to-10 days) you can still spread illness as long as you’re sneezing or wheezing. The flu behaves in much the same way, though symptoms tend to be much more severe than with a cold. While you’re most contagious in the first 3 days or so, you can infect others for as long as you have symptoms (flu generally runs its course in 2-to-10 days). And the Centers for Disease Control advises that there might be a day or so before symptoms begin when you’re also shedding the virus. (The best advice is wash your hands often … and for all of our sakes, stay home!)

• “International Floral Design Day”, focusing on the art of flower arranging, both as a profession and as a hobby.
• “Shrove Tuesday” (aka “Pancake Day”), the day before the 1st day of Lent, “Ash Wednesday”. The date is always 47 days before Easter Sunday, meaning “Shrove Tuesday” generally falls between February 3rd and March 9th. The name ‘shrove’ derives from the word ‘shrive’ meaning to free yourself from sin.
• “Rare Disease Day”, established in 2008 as an annual observance on the last day of February to raise awareness for rare diseases and improve access to treatment. A disease is defined as ‘rare’ in Europe when it affects less than 1-in-2000; and in the USA if it affects fewer than 200,000 in total.
• “Tooth Fairy Day”, honoring the devious dental donor who leaves money under kids’ pillows for lost teeth. No one knows the origin for sure but there was a fairytale In 18th-century France about a ‘tooth mouse’ who hid under pillows. While average kids now get paid over $2 for prime enamel, 10% of children who tuck a tooth beneath their bolster get … nothing.
• “World Spay Day”, an annual campaign on the last Tuesday of February to spotlight the benefits of affordable, accessible spaying/neutering to companion animals, feral and stray cats, and street dogs who might otherwise be put down in shelters.
• “World Tailors Day”, an annual observance in several countries. The date is the birthday of Sir William Elias Howe, inventor of the sewing machine using the lock stitch loop method in 1845.
