Bullseye!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Alex Trebek’s son, Matthew, is honoring his father’s memory in a way that helps those in need. The late “Jeopardy!” host’s sizable wardrobe will soon be going to charity. Alex’s wife, Jean, took to Instagram to explain how proud she is of her son for donating the TV icon’s suits to The Doe Fund, a charity that helps the homeless and previously incarcerated reenter the workforce. She wrote: “It warms my heart to know that Alex’s suits will be donated to such an important cause.”

★ “AFV” is going to the dogs. And to the cats, and probably to the elephants, and the monkeys, etc. The network Nat Geo Wild is spinning off the long-running ABC series with “America’s Funniest Home Videos: Animal Edition.” In a statement, Nat Geo Wild said: “America’s Funniest Home Videos has been a household staple since its inception, providing hilarious entertainment from some of the happiest coincidences and epic fails in television history. But there’s no question that animal videos featuring furry friends and scaly celebrities are the most entertaining yet.” The fur-focused version of the show, hosted by Alfonso Ribeiro, will premiere on Sunday, June 20th.

★ Viggo Mortensen says he turned down the role of ‘Wolverine’ in the original “X-Men” movie in 2000. Why? According to Mortensen, “The thing that bothered me at the time was just the commitment of endless movies of the same character over and over. I was nervous about that.” Hugh Jackman went on the land the Wolverine role, playing the character 10 times in total in X-Men sequels, spin-offs and a cameo. Mortensen says Marvel found the right man for the job.

★ A pair of Nike sneakers designed for former US President Barack Obama are set to go on sale for $25,000. In 2009, the sneaker brand designed an exclusive pair of Nike Hyperdunk basketball shoes for the 44th president in honor of his documented love of basketball. The rare sneakers, which feature the number “44” embroidered on each toe and “1776” on the insoles, plus the official Presidential Seal, were modelled after the “United We Rise” Hyperdunks that Team USA wore for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

According to MTV, the show, recorded in Seoul, South Korea, will offer fans “a front-row seat to never-before-seen versions of the group’s most career-defining hits and songs from their latest album Be (Essential Edition), in intimate settings.” It will air Feb. 23.
• Justin Bieber – Images of his custom Rolls Royce have surfaced online. Inspired by the Rolls 103EX Vision 100, the futurist car, with its fully covered wheels and low stance, appears to hover off the ground when driving. The Rolls-Royce Wraith goes for around $330k…no word on what Biebs paid for the custom job that looks straight out of NASA. PICS: https://tinyurl.com/5ahbu7fu
• (***CAUTION***) Phoebe Bridgers — didn’t mince words to rock elder statesman David Crosby after his social media criticism of her guitar-smashing stunt on “SNL”. After Crosby referred to the incident as “pathetic” and “childish stage drama,” Bridgers responded: “little bitch”.
• The Tragically Hip – Guitarist Rob Baker says the band is of sifting through previously unreleased music to hopefully someday share with fans. • Fleetwood Mac – Christie McVie says that she doesn’t expect the group will ever tour again with Stevie Nicks. Quote: “If we do, it will be without John [McVie] and without Stevie, I think.” McVie says she herself may be “a bit too old for it now”, but (drummer Mick Fleetwood) “would do it in a lightning strike.”
• The Supremes — Diana Ross shared a tribute to her Supremes co-founder Mary Wilson, who died Mon. at 76. Ms. Ross tweeted: “My condolences to you Mary’s family, I am reminded that each day is a gift, I have so many wonderful memories of our time together.” The cause of death for Wilson, who competed on “Dancing with the Stars” in 2019, has not been revealed.
• Kenny Chesney – has scored 54th top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, as ‘Happy Does’ rises 11-10 on the Feb. 13 chart. On the Country Airplay chart, the song remains at #2, with 29 million audience impressions, up 14%.

Other performers will include Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Garth Brooks, Lady A, Little Big Town, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood and Trisha Yearwood. The special will be hosted by Shelton and Paisley.
SHOOTING THE BULL
HIS SPACE:
For those who aren’t old enough to have witnessed the awesomeness that was MySpace, now’s your chance. Using his spare time during the pandemic, German 18-year-old ‘An’ has created a social media platform called “SpaceHey” that is an authentic likeness of the early-2000s social network Myspace. Inspired by its reputation as a less toxic space for online socializing than the platforms people currently use, he found archived webpages and coded a “combination tribute and re-creation” of the trailblazing social network. The result is complete with customizable profiles, bulletins, and the ability to IM — all in a layout that mimics Myspace. Since launching on Nov. 29, 2020, SpaceHey has amassed over 55,000 users. In comparison to Facebook and the other current social media giants, users say SpaceHey is far more friendly and welcoming.
(At least until a certain ex-President hears about it…)
(I remember MySpace! I’d always get messages from girls asking if I wanted to “Blockbuster and chill”!)
(Up next, someone should revive the ‘MySpace’ of smartphones: The Blackberry!)

SHOTS ON THE SPOT:
A year ago, we would have been pretty impressed if a coronavirus vaccine simply fell out of the sky. Now, it’s pretty much a thing. North American aircraft manufacturing company Draganfly is developing a vaccine-distribution scheme using drones, with each able to carry at least 100 single doses. And German start-up Wingcopter is working on a number of trial projects for countries in Africa and Southeast Asia, aiming to deliver vaccines to millions while minimising human contact. Wingcopter is one of several drone start-ups seeking to play a role in the delivery of vaccines in regions lacking good storage facilities or developed transport infrastructure. A Wingcopter drone can transport about 2,500 vaccine doses a day, and they aim to build a new drone that could carry up to 1,000 doses per flight. Drone delivery has long been the goal for shippers, particularly among online retailers like Amazon and Walmart, both of which have recently piloted delivery programs using drones.
(Not the best news I’ve heard this week…but it’s definitely up there!)
(OK, so they can fly the vaccines to pretty much anywhere…THEN what? Free for all?)

YOU ‘VALENLIGHT’ UP MY LIFE:
You’re probably familiar with the dating trends ghosting, benching, breadcrumbing and gaslighting…hopefully not TOO familiar…and now comes the latest, just in time for February 14th. “Valenlighting” Valenlighting was coined last year by UK newspaper writer Ellen Scott. She defines it as “the heartbreaking act of dumping someone right before Valentine’s Day, because you’re too tight to get them a gift, write a card, or make any kind of fuss.” So…Valentine’s Day — plus being too much of a tightwad to buy a gift — equals Valenlighting. But experts agree that when Valenlighting occurs, there’s probably more than an aversion to gift-giving at play. Feb. 14th tends to bring a relationship to a head and highlight issues between couples that may not be working. Kim Seltzer, a dating coach and host of the “Charisma Quotient” podcast says if it’s about the gifts at all, it may be less about penny-pinching and more about a person’s fear of having a gift interpreted as an investment in the relationship.
(Yeah…what SHE said. Plus, I’m cheap!)
(I should mention that if you’re married, it’ll cost you a lot more if you DON’T buy a gift!)
(I always get Halloween and Valentine’s Day confused. They’re both about candy and being something you’re not!)

BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk Day”, an annual reminder that everyone screws up now and then. It’s a day to be optimistic, think positive, look on the bright side, and find something good in whatever happens. (Also, a good day to argue whether the correct term is ‘spilled’ or ‘spilt’)
• “Get Out Your Guitar Day”, today, pull your axe out of the attic, dust it off and, if you’re lucky, find someone who can tune it.
• “Inventors Day”, honoring the birth date of prolific inventor Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931), who single-handedly patented 1,200 inventions.

• “Satisfied Staying Single Day”, for those who choose to live independently and are quite happy doing so, thank-you very much. (Imagine being single on Valentine’s Day. Ha! The joke’s on you, I don’t have to imagine!)
• “Shut-in Visitation Day”, encouraging us to brighten the day for someone who is unable to get out and about.
• “Fat Thursday”, if ever there was an excuse to load up on sweet treats and take indulgent eating to the next level, Fat Thursday is just the ticket.
