BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ In a move that ought to make fans of The Beatles twist and shout, Sony Pictures and Oscar-winning filmmaker Sam Mendes have set plans to make 4 separate theatrical films, one on each of the members of music’s most famous and enduring band. Mendes will direct all 4, and this marks the first time Apple Corps Ltd. and The Beatles – Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and the families of John Lennon and George Harrison – have granted full life story and music rights for a scripted film. Each will follow a different band member’s perspective, but their stories will also naturally interconnect. Mendes will also produce the movies, expected to hit theaters in 2027.

★ Mark Wahlberg had to grin and bear it to film his new movie “Arthur the King”. The 52-year-old revealed he suffered a harrowing injury during the first day of shooting the adventure drama, which is inspired by the true story of an adventure racer who befriends a stray dog during a 400-mile race across the Dominican Republic. Wahlberg said he wanted to “pay attention to the small stuff” and “look the part,” meaning he had to undergo a lot of training similar to that of real-life athletes who take on that kind of challenge. Unfortunately, he tore his meniscus the first day, so all his training “went out the window”. A doctor warned him that not pausing production to heal could cause serious injury, but Wahlberg decided to work through it. As he put it: “So I got to understand the suffering a little bit more than I wanted to.” King Arthur is out March 15.

★ “Bob Hearts Abishola” may be dead at CBS, but there’s nothing preventing it from going to another network. Series co-creator and executive producer Gina Yashere said that the comedy could be shopped around, during a panel at the Television Critics Association’s 2024 winter tour. Quote: “I’m leaving that to Chuck [Lorre] because he’s the boss. But we’re hoping.” Yashere said she is “all for” a move to another network, and she’s “ready to take the show to whoever wants it next. Netflix, where are ya?”

★ Vanessa Williams is bringing ‘Miranda Priestly’ to the stage! The producers of the upcoming London musical adaptation of “The Devil Wears Prada” have announced that the “Ugly Betty” star will play the iconic fictional Runway magazine editor-in-chief when the show begins performances in October. Both Williams and the production’s Instagram account shared videos of her in character as Miranda to make the announcement. Williams wrote: “Yes…it’s me.” LINK: http://tinyurl.com/5axa7fzf

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Lady Gaga – has posted some new pictures from the studio, indicating that she’s hard at work on new music. But, alongside a pic of her strumming an electric guitar, she wrote: “No I’m not making a rock album.” LINK: http://tinyurl.com/669wv3pv
• Taylor Swift — surprised her fans at her Sunday Melbourne, Australia show, saying that she will no longer follow her own rule that bans her from performing any of her acoustic “surprise songs” more than once on her “Eras Tour”. Quote: “I don’t want to limit anything or say, ‘If I played this song, I can’t play it again.”
• Eddie Vedder and Post Malone – took the stage together on Saturday night, performing Pearl Jam’s ‘Better Man’ and Tom Petty’s ‘I Won’t Back Down’ at the Reportin’ for Duty benefit concert in Shelbyville TN. He shared on Instagram that he dealt with a condition called Dupuytren’s contracture, in which one or more fingers get stuck in a permanently flexed position, and ended the post with a video of him twirling his drumstick for the first time in “a couple years.” LINK: http://tinyurl.com/3zphzrf6
• Billy Joel – told Howard Stern that he once thought of putting together a supergroup, similar to the Traveling Wilburys. With whom? Quote: “Me, Don Henley, and Sting, and maybe John Mayer on guitar.” Why didn’t it happen? “Well, everybody’s busy…”
• Jessie James Decker – Her family of 5 just became a family of 6. She welcomed her 4th child with husband Eric Decker on Feb. 9. They shared pics on social media, writing: “Our beautiful boy is here. Denver Calloway Decker.” LINK: http://tinyurl.com/zsxs6nnt

In a recent interview he revealed that he had a vasectomy that day. Quote: “Laying on my back, high as a kite, the nurse and doctor…standing over me…and they’re just talking about their day.”
SHOOTING THE BULL
WALK TALK:
⇒ Everyone moves in a unique way, and scientists are saying that your personal walking gait can indicate a lot about your overall health. In fact, it’s gaining traction as one of your vital signs, along with body temperature, pulse rate, respiration rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation. Having your gait analyzed by a health professional can predict motor delays in kids, fall risks in older adults and, when coupled with a cognition decline, the risk of dementia. Walking speed can also be an indicator of your health. A study released last Fall found that walking faster is associated with a reduced risk of death. (Especially in MY neighborhood!)
⇒ Can you walk a kilometer pain-free? That’s about 0.6 miles. Because new research finds that 1 in 5 people struggle to walk that far – and that could indicate poor bone health. Scientists at Australia’s Garvan Institute of Medical Research say asking patients about walking limitations is an easy way for doctors to identify those in need of bone health screenings and interventions intended to stop fractures before they occur. Their research shows that women who reported “a lot” of limitations in walking one kilometer had a 60% higher fracture risk than women reporting no limitations. Among men, the increased risk was over 100%. (But remember: That could also be related to the fact that men are also 100% more likely to clean the gutters [eavestroughs]!)

WINNER, WINNER:
$ A man won a $500,000 prize — from the first lottery ticket he ever purchased. He told Michigan Lottery officials he was a complete lottery novice when he bought his Wild Side scratch-off ticket in Saginaw. The 21-year-old, who chose to remain anonymous, said that he didn’t even know how to play the game, so he took the ticket home and had his “parents walk me through it.” When the half-million-dollar prize was revealed, they were “in disbelief”. (His ever-helpful parents have also offered to help him spend it!)
$ A Nebraska man cleaning out the glove compartment in his vehicle found a scratch-off lottery ticket he bought last year – and it ended up winning him a new truck. Lucas Swarthout of North Platte bought the Truck$ & Buck$ scratch-off ticket in early Fall, and put it in his glove box for later. He promptly forgot about it until earlier this month. He scratched the ticket off and discovered he had won the top prize: a 2023 Ford F-150 XLT 4×4 Crew Cab Flex Fuel truck. (Hey! Maybe I should clean out my glove box too! Nah…not worth it!)

FROZEN BUNS:
It may be located in a cold area, but the world’s only “ski-thru” window has become a hot destination. “McSki”, which, as you might imagine, serves up McDonald’s menu items, is located in Sälen, Sweden. It first opened in 1996, but people from around the world have been visiting this winter, thanks to snow bunnies who spotted the restaurant in viral videos. McSki, which sits on the slopes of the Lindvallen winter resort, allows customers to, well, ski (or snowboard) up to a window and order food and drinks. The restaurant boasts a full menu, in addition to a McCafe, where hot chocolate and warm Swedish cinnamon buns are featured. Those who’d like to warm up can sit inside McSki, which resembles a cozy ski lodge with its wood-paneled interior. Most of the buzz about the place this year is thanks to TikTok, managers say, noting they have never seen so many English visitors. One TikTok video posted in December, which describes McSki as “heaven,” has been viewed more than 6.6 million times. LINK: http://tinyurl.com/yfnvnac6
(Heaven? They couldn’t have thought about it enough to describe it as “McHeaven”?)

INSIDER INFORMATION:
A recent Reddit thread asked: “What industry “secret” do you know that most people don’t?” Here are some of the best answers…
❑ Most—probably 80% or more—of the books on the nonfiction bestseller list (autobiographies, memoirs, political/business books, etc.) are ghostwritten. Source: I am a ghostwriter.
❑ People who sell courses on how to make money make their own money selling you the course.
❑ I’m an unarmed security guard. Every now & then I’ll get a comment from someone about how they’re glad I’m around in case there’s an active shooter or something. Yea; if that happens? We’re not doing anything aside from getting ourselves to safety and calling the cops.
❑ Pack your freight like it’s going to get a pallet stacked on top of it because it most likely will.
❑ If teachers did absolutely everything in their job description perfectly, they would never sleep, eat or socialize.
❑ If you have already googled your (I.T.) problem, you have already exceeded the first 2 tiers of tech support. (And if you already tried restarting it, you’ve probably just put someone out of a job!)
❑ I make wildlife films for big streamers and broadcasters. The sound is all either library or foley (Created by sound artists).
❑ I’m an academic researcher and I can speak for a huge number in my field when I say: If you want access to our studies and they’re behind a paywall, you can email us and we will send you the study.
❑ If you find an extra nugget in your order, it wasn’t a mistake. You got a cool employee.
❑ If your baby goes to a nursery/daycare, chances are those weren’t their “first” steps/words etc that you witnessed. Industry standard is to not tell parents when these things happen as it makes them feel bad. (Ouch! NOW I feel bad…)

DID YOU KNOW?
A Washington schoolgirl broke a Guinness World Record by putting on 45 sweaters at her local library. Sophia Hayden pulled on each sweater individually, in order of size, and had to pull each garment down to her waist before moving on to the next one, to comply with Guinness World Records rules. She broke the record for the most sweaters worn at once. The previous title-holder was an 11-year-old in France, who managed to don 40 sweaters in 2022. The sweaters used by young Sophia were donated to charity. (I watched the video. After putting on all those sweaters, she looked like I do after eating at Golden Corral!) • “Card Reading Day”, a day to have your future foretold with tarot cards. (Or to go to the store and read a bunch of greeting cards…)
• “Single Tasking Day”, a day to focus on one project at a time. Studies show you’ll likely end up accomplishing more. (But good luck telling that to a multi-tasker!)
• “Sticky Bun Day”, an annual food holiday saluting the ooey-gooey buns you just can’t turn down (or let go of…)
• “Grain-Free Day”, which inspires families and friends to “enjoy each others’ company over grain-free meals.” It recognizes the difficulties of a restricted diet: some people can’t have grains like rice, wheat, or corn because of an allergy or an autoimmune disease, and find themselves stuck eating next to nothing at gatherings where food is offered.
• “Kombucha Day”, celebrating the fermented tea drink that has been brewed for over 2000 years. Legend has it that Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huang sought to lengthen his life by any means available and this “Tea of Immortality” was delivered by alchemists at his request. (How did that work out?)
• “UN International Mother Language Day”. (In school, Latin was always a real ‘mother’!)
