BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ The trailer for “Project Hail Mary” has officially broken the record to become the biggest original film movie trailer ever — with 400 million views in its first week. That also marks the biggest trailer launch in Amazon MGM Studios’ history. Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller took to social media to celebrate, writing: “Holy Moly. Thank you all you glorious generous fans of movies/books/near light speed space travel/the Sun for pushing the trailer for ‘Project Hail Mary’ past 400 million views.” Project Hail Mary flies into theaters on March 20, 2026. ★ NBC has announced that the “Wicked” concert special, led by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, will air on November 6, two weeks ahead of the release of the sequel “Wicked: For Good”. Erivo and Grande will be joined by their co-stars and other surprise guests to perform songs from the first movie — “and maybe, just maybe, a little bit from the upcoming film,” the network said in its release.

★ The “Big Bang Theory” spinoff “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe” has officially been greenlit at HBO Max. The show was originally announced as being in development in April 2023. The cast of the series is made up of Big Bang Theory alums Kevin Sussman, Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn, and John Ross Bowie. The logline states: “Comic book store owner ‘Stuart Bloom’ (Sussman) is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon.

★ So it was a joke. For an ad. “The Office” actor Craig Robinson recently announced on Instagram that he was leaving comedy to start a small business. But it seems the small business isn’t exactly what you’d call real. Turns out, Robinson is only pretending to be a small business owner in what will be a series of AT&T Business commercials that will reunite him with his Office-mates Ellie Kemper, Angela Kinsey, Creed Bratton and Oscar Nuñez.

★ Ed Helms says that because he was raised in a “repressed Southern home,” he was worried to show his parents “The Hangover.” Speaking on a recent podcast, Helms explained that he grew up juggling a complicated relationship with comedy due to his upbringing. He explained that even though he was about 35 when The Hangover was released, at the premiere, he was seated next to his mother, QUOTE: “and the movie ends and there’s huge applause…the lights come up and she’s crying. Tears streaming down her face, and for a second, I’m like, ‘Did I just break my poor mom’s heart?’ But she says to me, ‘That was so funny,’ and just gave me a big hug.”

• Rihanna – At the premiere of the “Smurfs” movie in Brussels, James Corden spoke of how he “tried for 8 years” to get her to appear on “Carpool Karaoke”. She said she’d do it once she had a new album to promote – but she still hasn’t dropped a new record since 2016. Riri does appear on the soundtrack for Smurfs with the song ‘Friend of Mine’. She also sings a duet with Corden in the film.
• Tori Kelly – The “American Idol” alum is pregnant with her first baby. She posted a video showing herself and her basketball player husband André Murillo kissing, snuggling, and dancing on the beach. In a song that plays over the footage, she sings, “I’m ready for what comes next/ Let’s make a baby.” At the end, Kelly shows off her baby bump. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/yckd8nnv

RUNWAY MEETS RUN DOWN:
Balenciaga is back at it — making ‘worn-out’ look ‘runway-ready’, with a price tag to match. The fashion house’s latest stunt? A collab with Puma that reimagines the classic 1999 Speedcat sneaker, originally made for Formula 1 racing. The twist? This version looks like it’s already survived a demolition site. Balenciaga slapped its name on the tongue, roughed up the suede, peeled off Puma’s logo, and now, it’s selling the “distressed” kicks for $685 — a far cry from the original $100 price tag. The shoes, part of Balenciaga’s Winter 2025 collection, come in colors like “dirty white” and “super faded black.” Online reactions? Brutal. One commenter wrote: “Did you find these at a thrift store?” Another said it looked like they’d been “run over by every kind of construction vehicle.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4vrpdeb9
(Ah yes, the ‘dragged down a gravel road’ collection!)
(Those kicks got kicked, apparently!)

ROME-ANTIC TIPS FROM THE PAST:
Love has always been messy — and the ancient Greeks and Romans had plenty to say about it. Turns out, their dating struggles weren’t so different from ours. The Roman poet Ovid (43 BCE–17 CE), in “The Art of Love”, dished out surprisingly modern tips for finding a partner:
- Don’t sit around waiting — go out and look.
- Try public places: gardens, theaters… even near courthouses.
- Make eye contact, then find a reason to strike up a conversation.
- Meet by day — not drunk, not in the dark (they might be uglier than you think, lol…)
- Stay clean and fresh: trim nails, no nose hairs, and definitely no bad breath.
Meanwhile, Xenophon warned warned that even then, matchmakers could be shady. Aelian claimed Spartans fined attractive men who didn’t fall in love — because love made people braver. And in the ultimate ancient burn, Martial mocked his ex by comparing her kisses to dog poop. Clearly, love’s a battlefield — in every century.
(No nose hairs = eternal love. Got it.)
(Ah, yes…Drunk dating regret: a timeless classic!)

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢Self-driving cars may be futuristic, but when they mess up, the big question is: who takes the blame? That question hit TikTok recently when a man got stuck behind a Waymo car in San Francisco. He got out to confront the “driver” — only to realize there wasn’t one. Moments later, the Waymo botched a left turn — and got pulled over by a cop. But it turns out, in California, autonomous vehicles can’t get moving violations — because there’s no human to charge. That changes in 2026, when cops will finally be able to ticket the car companies themselves. Until then? Robo-cars get away clean. (Imagine arguing with a car… and losing.) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/55dct5zf
➢ Most towns in the US launch fireworks to celebrate the 4th of July. But instead, one small community in Alaska launches cars off the side of a cliff during their Independence Day celebrations. Why? The sun goes down in Glacier View, Alaska, around 11:30 p.m. on the 4th of July. Due to the late sunset, people there can’t enjoy fireworks until the early hours of the following morning. So, since 2005, locals have painted beat-up vehicles in stars, stripes, and bald eagles, then set them loose down a ramp while cheering crowds watch them soar, flip, and crash. Tickets cost $30, and fans show up as early as 8am — because nothing says freedom like a flying Ford. (Funny enough, the people watching tend to be just as “well-lit” as the cars flying off the cliff!) LINK: https://tinyurl.com/yzxwy3wz

DID YOU KNOW?
These days, both male and female pro tennis players are serving faster than ever before, with some regularly reaching service speeds that were once thought to be impossible. At this year’s Wimbledon, fans witnessed the fastest serve in the tournament’s 148-year history, when Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard unleashed a 153mph (246km/h) rocket in his first-round match against Taylor Fritz. (Even the ball boy needed a neck brace after THAT!)

BS CHRONOMETER 07.11.25
TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Mojito Day”, a salute to the traditional Cuban cocktail consisting of white rum, sugar, lime juice, sparkling water, and mint. This refreshing highball is particularly popular in the summertime. (Especially if you like leaves in your drink…)
• “Blueberry Muffin Day”, celebrating the only morning snack we can think of that turns your teeth blue.
• “Cheer Up the Lonely Day”, an opportunity to make a lonely person happy by spending time with them. (It’s a good day to give [***afternoon guy***] a call!)
• “Essential Oils Day”. Essential oils may have medicinal benefits. Although more research is needed, they are used to treat stress and anxiety, combat headaches, promote sleep, tackle insomnia, and to reduce inflammation. (My favorite essential oil is bacon grease!)
• “Pet Photo Day”, a day to pose your little darlin’ and snap some pics. (And don’t forget to further humiliate the poor critter by decking it out in a dress and a funny hat. And be sure to photoshop it, adding the torso of a platypus…)
• “Slurpee Day”, (formerly “7-Eleven Day”), honoring the signature frozen beverage that the store began selling in 1967, held on the 11th day of the 7th month. Drop by for a free Slurpee, and try ‘Tongue-toos,’ first-of-their-kind temporary tongue tattoos activated by sipping a Slurpee. (Get there early, to guarantee yourself a free brain-freeze!)
• “Swimming Pool Day”, although we think EVERY hot Summer day should be Swimming Pool day. (And that’s what friends with swimming pools are for!)
• “World Population Day”, declared by the UN as a day to focus on the problems of overpopulation. About 150 people are born each minute. World population crossed the 5-billion mark on this day in 1987. We reached the 6-billion mark in 1999, 7-billion in 2011, and 8 billion in 2022. (And I STILL can’t get a date for my niece’s wedding…) LINK: https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/
SATURDAY:
• “Different Colored Eyes Day”, celebrating the diversity of eye color, as well as people whose eyes are a different color from one another. Celebs with what’s called ‘heterochromia’ include Mila Kunis, Henry Cavill, Demi Moore, and Kiefer Sutherland.
• “Pecan Pie Day”, celebrating one of the most decadent of all desserts. The crust and pecans aren’t necessary … just the yummy goo in the center! Is it ‘PEE-can or ‘puh-CAHN’? Or is it ‘pee-CAHN’?
• “Simplicity Day”, a day to focus on ways to simplify your life. (Sounds complicated…)
• “Eat Your Jell-O Day”. Is it a coincidence that it’s also Bill Cosby’s birthday??
• “Paper Bag Day”. The paper bag has become a household staple. Uses include bringing your groceries home, carrying your lunch, curing hiccups, and making puppets. (And carrying a bottle?)
• “Etch a Sketch Day”, celebrating the toy, released on this day in 1960, that has entertained and fascinated generations of kids. It allows you to draw straight lines on a screen controlled by 2 knobs, a difficult skill to master, but eventually, impressive pictures can be made.
• “New Conversations Day”, aiming to raise interesting questions, spark genuine conversations, and spur the discovery of new things between friends, family members, and partners. (So…how ‘bout that weather, huh?) LINK: https://conversationstartersworld.com/250-conversation-starters/
SUNDAY:
• “French Fries Day”. The ‘French’ in French fries has nothing to do with France, but the method of preparation. Food that’s chipped into pieces is said to be ‘frenched’. French fries likely originated in Belgium. (And I thought they were first cooked in ‘Greece’!)
• “Beans ‘n Franks Day”. One way to get rid of the extra wieners when you buy ‘em in packs of 12, but buns come in 8-packs. (Tomorrow is “Evacuate the Studio Day”!)
• “Embrace Your Geekness Day”, a great day to be a Geek … or to know a Geek. Some people view the term with a negative connotation. Are they jealous of your knowledge and skills? Of your pocket protector? Of your taped glasses? (And if you’re not one, embrace one!)
• “Gruntled Workers Day”. We always hear about ‘disgruntled’ workers, but what about people who are happy with their job and can’t wait to go to work each day? Gruntled workers, this is your day … ya eager-beaver keeners.
• “Go West Day”, on the anniversary of the day in 1865 that Horace Greeley, founder and editor of the New-York Tribune, advised readers to “Go west young man”. (Great idea…at least until your GPS says, “Recalculating!”)
• “Barbershop Music Appreciation Day”, created in 2005 by the worldwide organization of women singers “Sweet Adelines International” to mark its 60th anniversary. Today, relax and enjoy the sweet voices of a Barbershop Quartet (…quartet…QUARTETTTTTTTT!)
