Nuthin’ Like a Bull in Your Radio Shop!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
LA paparazzo Ron Galella is rushing to release a coffee table book of some 300 Michael Jackson photos dating back to the mid-1970s, tentatively titled “Black & White” (until the lawyers call) . . . Salt-n-Pepa singer Sandra Denton and TLC’s Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas have each landed their own reality TV dating shows debuting next year on VH1, both of them looking for a love (it’s like joining eHarmony for free!) . . . In a refreshing bit of candor, 65-year-old TV host Jerry Springer says he’s baffled that his trash-talk show has stayed on-the-air so long – since 1991 – because, he admits, ‘it’s still awful’ (you said it, dude!) . . . 83-year-old Jerry Lewis is working to develop his 1963 film comedy into a stage musical, with a score by Rupert Holmes & Marvin Hamlisch (planned to debut in 2010) . . . Actress Angelina Jolie’s movie debut at age 5 in “Lookin’ to Get Out” is now out on DVD in a re-edited version produced by her estranged father Jon Voight (who will now be extra-estranged) . . . George Clooney is the latest victim of prank online rumors wrongly reporting his death, but just like fellow actors Jeff Goldblum & Natalie Portman, he’s alive & doing swell (with the rash of actual celeb deaths in the last few weeks, the bogus stories are getting more attention than usual) . . . KISS rocker Gene Simmons, who has previously said “American Idol 8” runner-up Adam Lambert should ‘shut up’ about being gay, has now felt it necessary to tell AOL ‘he’s killed his career’ by talking about it, all the while denying he’s homophobic (well as they say, if it sounds like a duck …).

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Amy Winehouse – She’s been banned from adopting any more stray dogs in St Lucia after Cotton Bay Resort staff had to fumigate her villa. She’d been keeping a half-dozen beach strays in the luxury unit.
• Black Eyed Peas – Fergie’s actor-hubby Josh Duhamel (“Transformers: Revenge Of the Fallen”) says they’ve been forced to put off plans to have a baby because … she’s never home.
They wed in January, both claiming they wanted to start a family ASAP.
• Blink 182 – According to bassist Mark Hoppus’ Twitter they’re just finishing up mixing their first new, post-reunion track called “Up All Night”. It will be released soon thereafter.
• Michael Jackson – Radio play of his music has jumped by 1735% since he died, according to new stats from Nielsen BDS. Meantime, fans who purchased tickets to “This Is It” London concerts are being directed to a website for info about receiving a full refund or … having concert tickets delivered as souvenirs instead. (Now there’s a clever way to cut losses!)

BS BUZZWORDS:
New terms leaking into the lingo …
• ‘Girlfriend Getaway’ – Adult version of a sleepover in which grown women fly to a destination, eat junk food, shop … and complain about men. There are now oodles of websites offering travel packages in the genre.
• ‘Nail House’ – A house that ‘sticks out like a nail’ because the owner refuses to sell out when newer and usually bigger buildings are developed in the neighborhood surrounding it. The term has come to the forefront again thanks to the Disney movie “Up”.
• ‘VB6′ (‘Vegan Before 6′) – An increasingly popular veggie-heavy diet whereby the dieter eats a vegan diet before 6 pm, then whatever they want afterward. Proponents say it can do wonders for both the body … and the planet.

VIRTUAL CHILD:
Pregnant women are being given the chance to hold life-size models of their unborn babies thanks to an invention that converts data from ultrasound & MRI scans. Brazilian designer Jorge Lopes came up with the idea, using 3-D printing technology to create plaster models. His invention has since attracted the attention of medical experts and is being tested at a clinic in Rio de Janeiro, where expectant mothers now get the chance to see and hold full-scale replicas of their babies. (Far fewer bodily fluids to deal with.)

WORLDWIDE BULL ROAR:
• This guy refused to break the law after he’d broken the law! In Guildford UK a 34-year-old getaway driver in a stolen Alfa Romeo refused to speed after his gang robbed a jewelry store of $100,000-worth of gems. In fact, the wheel-man took his foot off the gas every time they entered a speed-restricted area. Within a half-hour, the 3-man gang was arrested by pursuing cops. They’ve since been sentenced to prison for a total of 20 years.
– “Daily Telegraph”
• These people sure know how to burst your balloon! An overeager crowd in the Hungarian capital has thwarted discount airline Wizz Air’s attempt to release 1,000 balloons for its 5th anniversary celebration. Onlookers spied coupons worth 10,000 forints (about $50) attached to each balloon and a free-for-all of popping and grabbing commenced before the balloons could be officially released from a giant net in the center of Budapest.

• Call them straphangers in the sky! A Chinese airline wants to sell cut-rate, standing-room-only tickets. Spring Airlines’ president says he’s consulted with Airbus, the company that built most of its planes, and has been assured that standees would be safe. If the plan goes forward, flying ‘stand-by’ on this airline will mean … exactly that.

OOHS, AHHS, AND OWS:

Fireworks can be a real hazard for children. Eye injuries are the most common mishap after burns. Pediatrician Dr Jeffrey Gruen offers this advice: in case of eye injury, do not let the child rub the eye. Instead, place a protective patch over it. Do not give aspirin or ibuprofen because both can thin the blood. Go immediately to an emergency room, even if there is no pain after a blunt impact injury. Serious eye injuries from blunt impact can occur days later. (Alarmists remind you that this would never have happened if your kid had been wearing a helmet.)

FOR THE RECORD:
A 90-year-old Bakersfield, California woman is likely the world’s most prolific blood donor. She recently donated her 200th pint – that’s 25 gallons – since she got her start as a donor in 1954.
Great-grandmother Margaret Delfino says she temporarily stopped donating in 2001 when she had ovarian cancer, but started giving blood again 5 years later when it went into remission.
