Bully For You!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Jennifer Carpenter is set to return to “Dexter” in Showtime’s limited-series revival. Her character, serial killer Dexter Morgan’s sister ‘Deb’, was killed off in the 2013 series finale, which was pretty widely panned. The “Dexter” revival is set one decade after the finale, which is about how much real-life time has passed since then. The show ended with Dexter leaving Miami and exiling himself in Oregon following his sister’s death. Title star Michael C. Hall is also on board for the show’s return.

★ Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert will be the subject of a narrative documentary podcast series for Spotify. The series about the pair, known for their “Thumps Up, Thumbs Down” movie reviews, will chronicle their lives and careers and feature never-before-heard commentary and sound bites from Siskel and Ebert and those closest to them. Ebert died in 2013 and Siskel in 1999.

★ Smize Cream isn’t just an ice cream shop. Tyra Banks hopes her new ice cream company, named after her signature modeling expression of “smiling with your eyes,” is the start of an empire with the reach and scope of Disney. Banks says Walt Disney is an inspiration to her. Quote: “I look at what he did and how it’s still relevant to this day. His legacy lives on — the family entertainment, the happiest place on Earth. That’s what I want.” For now, Smize comprises of 7 ice cream flavors and a cast of original animated characters.

★ Harvey Weinstein is officially free to date whoever he wants — in prison, of course(!) — now that he and Georgina Chapman’s divorce is a done deal. Court records confirm the judge signed off on their divorce last week. As previously reported, the disgraced studio mogul and fashion designer reached a divorce settlement in January 2018, which included divvying up their property, and hashing out a custody arrangement for their 2 kids.

• Poison — Drummer Rikki Rockett has tested positive for Covid-19 despite having been vaccinated. In a You Tube video, he said his doctor believes he contracted the delta variant but he is now “out of the woods”, and if he weren’t vaccinated, “this would be way worse”.

FRIDAY FOOD FUN:
⇒ A Manhattan restaurant has broken a Guinness World Record with its latest menu item: a plate of French fries that costs $200. Serendipity3 created the world’s most expensive French fries to coincide with Tuesday’s National French Fry Day. The dish, named “Creme de la Creme Pommes Frites”, features ingredients including Chipperbeck potatoes, Dom Perignon Champagne, Ardenne Vinegar, cage-free goose fat from France, truffle Salt, truffle oil and truffle butter, Crete Senesi Pecorino Tartufello cheese, truffles from Italy, organic grass fed cream from Jersey Cows, and a topping of 23-karat edible gold dust. The restaurant previously landed Guinness World Records for foods including the world’s largest wedding cake and most expensive ice cream sundae. (I’ve paid that for fries, easy…if you include tax, delivery, tip, and the interest I’m still paying on my credit card!)
⇒ Behold the ice cream made from beer and booze! The new Below Zero ice cream machine uses a unique technique to freeze alcohol, allowing the user to turn beer, cocktails and even spirits into delicious soft-serve ice cream. Inventor Will Rogers, of Hinkley, Illinois, was trying to create a caffeinated espresso ice cream flavor when he realized he could use the same technique with alcoholic beverages. He eventually came up with something called “NEA” gel. It’s this magical concoction that allows the alcohol to freeze to a near solid inside the Below Zero ice cream machine. Rogers has been serving up cones at catering events, but plans to sell Below Zero ice cream machines to bars and breweries for about $6,000. (Finally! I’ve always wanted to be “over-soft-served”!)

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ A bitter woman and her love-struck new boyfriend have been arrested — after renting her ex-boyfriend’s car and racking up 49 tickets for running red lights. Police in Shaoxing, China started investigating after the same Audi was to blame for dozens of red-light tickets, plus another for speeding, in just 2 days. The owner, only identified by his surname, Qian, said he had rented out the car to a man who said it was for an acquaintance, “Zhu”, who was the red-light-running driver. Zhu eventually confessed — telling cops he did it for a woman he was pursuing named “Lou”. Lou had been dumped by the car’s owner for another woman — and she told Zhu that she would only date him if he helped her get revenge by getting her ex multiple tickets. (She couldn’t just ‘key’ her ex’s car like everyone else? Oh…uh…asking for a friend…)
➢ A Michigan man made a surprising discovery under the stairs of his home — 160 bowling balls. David Olson said he was taking apart the stairs behind his Muskegon house when he noticed a spherical object in the sand. But, he says, the deeper he got into it, he realized there was an entire gridwork of them. Eventually, he counted 160 bowling balls. The house was built in 1959, while the Brunswick Bowling Products factory was still operating in Muskegon, and according to former employees who have contacted him on social media, it was common for workers to take unusable balls home substitute for gravel or sand in construction projects. What will he do with 160 bowling balls? Olsen says his wife is “crafty and wants to do some projects.” (Meantime, he’s going to get the ball rolling on his renos!)

DID YOU KNOW?
Researchers once concluded that there are 4 types of drunks: The “Hemingway”, whose personality stays the same; The “Mary Poppins”, who becomes sweeter and more outgoing; The “Nutty Professor”, who becomes an uninhibited attention-seeker; and “Mr. Hyde”, who turns hostile.

TODAY’S SCOOP OF BS:
➠ Kraft has unveiled its limited edition ‘Mac & Cheese ice cream’. (And that, my friend . . . is the whitest thing I’ve ever uttered!)
➠ A study shows drinking tequila may fight obesity. (The study has a margin of error of “plus or minus one plastered, 300-pound spring-breaker doing the Dougie on the bar at the Cancun Senor Frog’s.”)
➠ I just read that a lion’s roar can be heard from five miles away. (Which explains why I can hear the beginning of every movie from the theater down the street…)
➠ A study says that women having affairs watch more porn than men having affairs. (To me, this study is lacking some very important information. Like the names and addresses of these women.)
➠ Researchers have suggested that sex is actually good for your health. (In other words, I could be dead by morning…)
