Now You’re Fulla Sheet!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Bindi Irwin, the daughter of the late “Crocodile Hunter” star Steve Irwin, has revealed that her younger brother will be walking her down the aisle when she weds her longtime boyfriend Chandler Powell. Irwin, who is now 21, and Robert, now 15, were just 8 and 2 years old when their dad died in 2006 from a stingray barb through his heart. Bindi told ET: “I think that for me, it’ll be really important that Robert walks me down the aisle. That’s something that I really want to do.”

★ Johnny Depp is detailing new allegations against his ex-wife Amber Heard. He claims Heard put a cigarette out on his cheek and threw a bottle at him during a fight in Australia one month after their wedding in March 2015. The Depp-Heard divorce, which happened less than two years after they married, was an ugly affair featuring allegations of physical abuse, restraining orders, media-mobbed court hearings, leaked texts and cellphone pictures of facial bruises.

★ Hulu has renewed “The Handmaid’s Tale” for a fourth outing. The news comes with three episodes of the third season still to air. “Handmaid’s” has become a signature original series for Hulu, which says that it is the most-watched show on the streaming service. Based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name, “The Handmaid’s Tale” follows the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly part of the United States.

★ Joaquin Phoenix has confessed that this upcoming movie, “Joker”, may not live up to fans’ expectations. Phoenix says that he and director Todd Phillips “didn’t follow anything from the comic books, which people are gonna be mad about. We just wrote our own version of where a guy like Joker might come from. That’s what was interesting to me. We’re not even doing Joker, but the story of becoming Joker.” “Joker”, which is described as a “psychological thriller”, comes out Oct. 4.
★ Cindy Crawford’s model son Presley Gerber has struck a plea deal in his DUI case. He pleaded no contest to one misdemeanour count of driving with a .08% blood alcohol content, and was sentenced to three years probation. BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Miley Cyrus – insists she won’t perform at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards after being snubbed from the nominations. Her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, is up for eight awards thanks to his collaboration with Lil Nas X on ‘Old Town Road’. Miley is responsible for one of the ceremony’s most iconic performances for when she took to the stage in 2013 and twerked on Robin Thicke, grabbed her crotch and stripped from a teddy bear onesie into a nude latex bikini.
• Lana Del Rey — has the full support of Priscilla Presley in her quest to play Elvis Presley’s ex-wife in Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming movie documenting the life of the late icon. Del Rey has reportedly had her agent badgering Luhrmann for months, hoping to get her the part.
• (***Watch for dating***) Woodstock 50 — will be a free show for those lucky enough to get tickets, although which performers will actually take the stage is still up in the air. Ticket details for the show, which has been moved to Maryland, haven’t been released yet. Woodstock 50 is set for the weekend of Aug. 16.
• Jon Bon Jovi – He and his wife Dorothea will host a fundraiser for presidential hopeful Cory Booker at their Hamptons mansion on Aug. 18. Tickets range from $1,000 per person all the way up to $15,000 for access to the cocktail reception and dinner, plus a photo with Booker and Bon Jovi.
• Led Zeppelin – has partnered with shoe and apparel company “Vans” to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their debut album. The limited-edition shoes, shirts and caps are available at Vans.eu and store.ledzeppelin.com.
• Zac Brown Band – Their new album, “The Owl” will be released on Sept. 20. The first single ‘Leaving Love Behind’ was released on Friday. According to Brown, the band has “been working tirelessly on this album over the past couple years, ensuring every detail is perfect.”
• (***Caution: language***) Kip Moore – posted a profanity-laced rant to Instagram after discovering that scalpers had taken advantage of a special fan pre-sale to purchase blocks of seats for some of his upcoming fall tour dates. Partial (censored) quote: “First off, f-you. Second of all, we’re gonna go in and we’re gonna cancel your (stuff)… and we’re gonna resell them back to the fans that want to be there.”

HALLOWEEN-ISH
There is a petition aiming to change Halloween from Oct. 31 to the last Saturday of October. The non-profit Halloween & Costume Association in the US is spearheading the initiative, arguing that moving the date of Halloween will lead to a “safer, longer, stress-free celebration.” They envision a Halloween that would kick off during daylight hours, and not interfere with work or school schedules. At last check, the petition had over 95,000 signatures.
(So it will be the parents instead of the teachers who have to deal with the effects of all those sugar hangovers?)
(But I always use that time when the kids are at school the next day “switch out” their peanut butter cups!)
(Has anyone checked with the Great Pumpkin on this?)

COLDEN DAYS:
A survey by BC Hydro has found that more than half of workers find offices too cold during summer due to the growing popularity of air conditioning. It also found that that almost a quarter of people have argued or witnessed an argument over the office air conditioner. Women are twice as likely as men to say cold temperatures make it difficult to focus on work. BC Hydro says their survey of 500 people supports other studies which found that many office climate control systems are based on a formula designed for men and their metabolic rate, at the expense of the comfort of women, some of whom resort to wearing multiple layers or a blanket to deal with low office temperatures. The utility says that offices set their thermostat to as low as 20 C (68F), which is three to four degrees cooler than is recommended and can be a waste of electricity.
(Especially when the women start using space heaters!)
(I guess it all boils down to whether you have a “cool” boss or not!)
(Is it REALLY too cold, or they just venting?)

MY SPIRIT ROOMBA:
A young man has modified a Roomba to yell swear words whenever it crashes into things. Michael Reeves, who already has a large following on YouTube, tweeted a video showing that he successfully built a Roomba “that swears when it bumps into stuff.” Reeves programmed the device to scream in any voice and any words he wanted it to. |Of course, the swearing Roomba is a huge hit, having chocked up more than 6.5 million views on Twitter, and almost 7.5 million on YouTube.
WEB (***Caution: language***): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvz3LRK263E
(Of course, we also need a Canadian version that, instead of swearing, apologizes…)
(So it’s exactly like my teenager, except it actually does some vacuuming while it’s swearing?)

RUDE CONVERSATION HABITS YOU NEED TO STOP ASAP:
☞ Interrupting people:  This is considered the most common rude conversation habit. Interrupting not only expresses a lack of interest or respect for the speaker, but it also stops people from sharing the punchline or pearl of wisdom that might come at the end of their story. (Now, can I continue?)
☞ Only talking about yourself:  This makes you appear narcissistic and inconsiderate of other people. Others want to share their stories too. Monopolizing the conversation is just plain irritating and boring. (So, if someone does this, interrupt them!)
☞ Scrolling while speaking:  If you use your phone during a conversation, it signals boredom, that you’d rather be elsewhere, or that whatever is happening on your phone is more important than the person who is speaking to you.
☞ One-upping:  So, your friend just mentioned their first-ever international trip to Italy—and all you want is to chatter away about your semester abroad in Milan. It might be a good idea to hold off. Someone else sharing their experience with you doesn’t require you to counter with your own.” (You think ONE-UPPING is rude…I’ll TELL you what’s rude…)
☞ Prepping your response before the end of a story:  Too many people aren’t actually listening to a conversation closely. Instead, they are waiting for their turn to speak. Take a deep breath and take in what the other person says. Then speak. (Can you imagine if politicians did this during debates? No, neither can I…)
☞ Always needing to be “right”:  The important thing isn’t about being right or wrong, but understanding where each other is coming from and the ability to empathize with one another without judgment. (Easy to say…difficult to apply…)

DID YOU KNOW?
A six-year-old South Korean has purchased an US $8 million, five-story property in Seoul. “Boram”, a YouTube star with 30 million subscribers, bought the building in the trendy Seoul suburb of Gangnam through the Boram Family company, which was set up by her parents. Boram has two popular YouTube accounts: a toy review channel with 13.6 million subscribers and a video blog account with 17.6 million subscribers.
