BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are unloading some of their prized possessions amid their marital strife. Page Six reports that the couple is selling pieces of art from their $60 million home, which is also on the market ahead of their rumored divorce. Collectors have been purchasing “art and some pieces” that were “newly on sale” last month. Ben and J-Lo purchased the expansive property last year, only to put it up for sale almost exactly a year later. He has been staying in a rental property nearby, and moved his belongings out of the marital home while she was on a solo vacation to Europe.

★ Congrats are in order for Katherine Schwarzenegger and Chris Pratt, who are expecting their third child together. The author and the MCU star tied the knot in June 2019, recently celebrating their 5th anniversary — and have 2 daughters: 3-year-old Lyla Maria, and Eloise Christina, who is 2. The “Jurassic World” star is also father to 11-year-old Jack, whom he shares with ex-wife Anna Faris.

★ The box office continues to run hot as Disney/Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” has become the fastest animated film to gross $1 billion worldwide, hitting the mark after just 3 weekends in theaters. It earned $57.4 million domestically in its most recent weekend take. While it will cede the top spot this weekend to “Despicable Me 4,” it is still on pace to pass “Incredibles 2” as the highest grossing animated film ever at the North American box office.

★ Eric Dane has a theory about his exit from “Grey’s Anatomy.” He appeared on Dax Shepard’s podcast last week and opened up about why he was fired from the hit ABC series in 2012, saying: “I didn’t leave so much as I think I was let go”. According to him, he was “struggling” with drugs and alcohol at the time that he was written off the show. He said: “They didn’t let me go because of that, although it definitely didn’t help.” In addition, Dane pointed out that he “was starting to become…very expensive for the network.” Dane, who played ‘Dr. Mark Sloan’ for 7 seasons, also pointed out that he “wasn’t the same guy they had hired”, so he understood the network’s move.

★ Michael Jackson was reportedly drowning in a mountain of debt when he died in 2009. Court documents filed in Los Angeles on June 21, and obtained by People last week, claim the King of Pop owed more than $500 million to more than 65 creditors just before he passed. Jackson had “more than half a dozen lawsuits pending worldwide”, plus the creditors’ claims, which spawned “additional lawsuits,” the petition states. Jackson’s executors were able to “renegotiate and restructure financing”, including a $750 million deal with Sony, but his estate still reportedly owes a significant amount of money.

WHAT’S ON AT AMAZON:
Analysts are calling it Amazon’s answer to discount online retailers Temu and Shein — the e-commerce giant’s is developing a “bargain section” it will use to sell goods that are Made in China, and will mostly sell for under $20. Products will include things like clothing, weights, phone cases, and even gua sha facial tools. The plan is for Amazon to ship the products directly to buyers in the US from Chinese warehouses in 9-11 days. Yes, that’s way slower than if you ordered through Prime, but chances are that if you’re shopping in the discount section, you’d be willing to be patient in order to save some money. Word is that by shipping directly from China, Amazon will also be able to take advantage of a loophole on import tariffs that both Temu and Shein currently use.
(This is great news! By taking advantage of these huge savings, my wife’s crippling addiction to online shopping will now take much longer to drive us into bankruptcy!)
(Hey, as long as they’re able to keep making enough money that Bezos’ fiancée can keep up her punishing regime of filler, lypo, implants, and facelifts, I’m all for it!)

BASEBALL’S NEW ‘COLORED’ LEAGUE:
It’s no secret that for many, the sport of baseball could use a little “jazzing up”. Sure, it’s a great game, but let’s face it: it is steeped deep in tradition, and both hardcore fans and the powers-that-be are deeply resistant to change. That’s why this groundbreaking idea may or may-not fly: The Tri-City Chili Peppers, a team playing in the Coastal Plain League out of Colonial Heights VA, have been experimenting with what they call “Cosmic Baseball”. That involves playing night games, under black lights, with players using UV-reactive uniforms, balls, and bats. The result has been described as looking like something out of a “Tron” movie. And despite the pitch-black atmosphere, players say that after some practice, playing under UV lights becomes second nature, and they are able to see the ball, no matter how hard it’s hit or thrown. Team owner Chris Martin came up with the idea last season when some glow sticks were thrown onto the field. He enlisted a company to build a massive 18 500-watt blacklight installation, and after securing UV-reactive uniforms, videos of the first cosmic baseball game on June 5 went viral online. Games have been sold out since. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/5czzs4xy

COUNTER CULTURE:
⇒ A newer TikTok Trend is to customize your Starbucks order so it tastes like a Vietnamese iced coffee. And increasingly, some creators are giving tips on how to request a specialized version of this sweet caffeinated beverage called “salt coffee”, or ca phe muoi. Salt coffee? Yup. The treat is made by adding sweetened condensed milk to a base of Vietnamese coffee. It is then topped with salted cream, and served hot or iced. The drink’s inventors, at a no-frills café in the city of Hue, say the combo of condensed milk, salt and black coffee creates a creamy mixture that softens the bitterness of the coffee and balances the sweetness of the condensed milk. In Vietnamese, the name “ca phe” means coffee and “muoi” means salt. (Coffee and salt? Just add ketchup, and you’d have my 3 favorite things!)
⇒ Condiment maker Heinz has announced a new product that combines 14 of its sauces in one. Named “Every Sauce,” Heinz calls it: “A delicious combination of not 1, not 2, but 14 tasty sauces, from our rich and herby Burger Sauce to our creamy and indulgent Truffle Mayo…This one is for the truly obsauced.” For those who need to know, the 14 Heinz sauces used to make Every Sauce are: Burger Sauce, Garlic Sauce, Aioli Sauce, Smokey Baconnaise, Sweet Chilli, Chip Sauce, Saucy Sauce, Mayoracha, Mayomust, Truffle Mayo, Garlic & Caramelized Onion Mayo, Curry Ketchup, Pickle Ketchup, and Smokey Bacon Ketchup. Sadly for those most who believe there’s no such thing as too much in the way of condiments, it’ll be exclusively available in the UK. (They couldn’t find a few dozen more sauces, and name it “Heinz 57”?) LINK: https://everysauce.heinz.co.uk/

DID YOU KNOW?
One in 3 adults take daily multivitamins in a bid to stay healthy, but according to a study, they don’t help you live and longer. New research published in the Journal of the American Medical Association looked at nearly 400,000 generally healthy adults over a 20-year period and found no evidence that daily multivitamin intake reduces the risk of death. While some benefits were found for some people, including pregnant women and those with macular degeneration, the study also found that taking several different vitamins can actually be harmful “if you’re taking them in excess.” (Perfect! I can finally stop lying to my mom about taking my vitamins!)

• “Special Recreation for the Disabled Day”. A good occasion to remind us of the importance of recreational activities in the lives of those with health conditions or impairments. Stats show that about 15% of the world’s population lives with some form of disability.
• “Anisette Day”. Anisette is an anise-flavored liqueur mainly consumed in France, Italy, Portugal, Mexico, and Spain. It is sweeter than most anise-flavored liqueurs, and also has a lower alcohol content (typically 25% by volume).
