Sheeters Always Prosper!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Disgraced NFLer-turned-movie actor-turned incarcerated convict OJ Simpson was the first choice to play “The Terminator” it’s been revealed as part of a 30th anniversary salute to the mega-hit movie. Studio executive Mike Medavoy admits he wanted Simpson to front the film, with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the 1984 sci-fi blockbuster’s hero. But director James Cameron was far from sold on the idea and Schwarzenegger eventually landed the title role while Michael Biehn was cast as hero ‘Kyle Reese’. (While OJ might have been believable chasing a woman around with a knife but can you picture him threatening convincingly, “I’ll be back!”?)
– “Entertainment Weekly”
★ In the last few months 46-year-old actor Liev Schreiber has suffered a broken nose … twice. The first incident occurred while visiting a boxing gym in Montréal after he ill-advisedly stepped into the ring with a 24-year-old Ukrainian fighter, inspired by onlookers who recognized him as ‘Sabretooth’ from “X-Men” movies. The 2nd incident occurred while filming his TV series “Ray Donovan”, when he walked into a wall while shooting a scene in a glass house. (Here’s a guy who should always wear a helmet … with a face guard.)

★ And 55-year-old Brit actor Sean Bean says he’s open to the possibility of returning to “Game of Thrones” (HBO). Despite the tragic fate of his character ‘Ned Stark’ during the show’s 1st season, he’s just learned that there’s a way for him to be featured again and he’s excited about it. While it would only be flashback scenes in season 5 that revive the character, he says he’s stoked to get aboard the hit series again. (Because in the meantime he’s been doing … OMG nothing.)

BS MYTHS THAT ARE MAKING YOU FEEL BAD ABOUT YOUR SEX LIFE:
✗ Men think about sex every 7 seconds. Untrue. 54% think about sex more than once daily.
✗ The average guy’s equipment is 8 inches long. Not close. In its natural state: 1-to-4 inches.
✗ You can tell how big a guy is by looking at his feet. The correlation is so weak it’s inaccurate.
✗ Certain foods work as aphrodisiacs. There’s no evidence of that. Could be a placebo effect.
✗ Watching porn rewires your brain. True. But only because everything we experience does.
✗ Women are far more apt to be bisexual than men. It’s about even. 1.4% to 1% in one poll.
✗ Most people have sex before age 16. Only around 30% of people have sex before 16.
✗ Everyone else is having more sex than you. Technically possible … but unlikely. Even so-called ‘sexually active’ people only report having sex once a week or less.

FRAGMENTED SLEEP IS AS BAD AS NO SLEEP:
Researchers with Tel Aviv University’s School of Psychological Sciences have set out to prove what many parents of infants and shift workers can confirm … repeated interrupted sleep has a negative effect on mood and attention span. The study followed a sampling of adults through 8 hours of ‘fragmented sleep’ (at least 4 prolonged awakenings). After the night of interrupted sleep participants felt more depressed, fatigued, and confused. They also had less vigor and attention to their daily activities. Perhaps surprisingly, the effects are almost identical with adults getting ‘restricted sleep’ – just 4 hours at a time. (It’s not ‘mommy brain’ that’s making you lose your keys all the time … it’s getting up with the baby several times a night.)

REGRETS, WE HAVE A FEW:
Findings from a new survey suggest that some older adults have regrets, but many also have a few lessons to pass on to those who are younger. When asked about a preselected list of steps they wish they had taken ‘to plan and prepare for senior years’, the most-cited regrets include their lack of attention to …
✓ Saving more money and making better investments.
✓ Taking better care of health.
✓ Staying closer with family.
Of the respondents in the poll, 17% said they had taken care of ‘none of the above’. (Oops.)

– Directed by Rob Reiner and written by the late Nora Ephron, it’s arguably the quintessential modern-day romantic comedy, one whose elements have been used in many rom-coms since.
– Initially, the script was titled “Scenes From a Friendship”.
– Molly Ringwald was also considered for the ‘Sally’ role.
– The famous “Yes! Yes! Yes!” fake-orgasm scene in a deli took Meg Ryan several takes over several hours to nail.
– The ensuing immortal line by an older female customer – “I’ll have what she’s having” – is delivered in a cameo role by director Reiner’s mother.
– In the initial ending, ‘Harry & Sally’ didn’t wind up together. Reiner changed that after wedding his real-life wife.
