★ Julia Fox has come out as a lesbian, after recently revealing she’s been celibate for over 2 years. Monday, the actress candidly opened up about her sexuality in response to a TikTok user, who said, “I love when I see a lesbian with their boyfriend. It’s like ‘Aww, you hate that man.” Fox responded: “Hey, that was me. I was that lesbian. So sorry, boys. Won’t happen again.” She received lots of support as fans gushed about how excited they were for her. Fox was married to Peter Artemiev from 2018-20, with whom she shares a 3-year-old, and dated Kanye West in 2022.

★ Paramount has released the first “Gladiator 2” trailer, offering a look at Ridley Scott’s long-promised sequel to his Best Picture-winning 2000 film. Russell Crowe is out and Paul Mescal is in, playing the grown son of Connie Nielsen’s character from the first film, ‘Lucius’. In an epic journey that mirrors the one Crowe’s ‘Maximus went’ on in “Gladiator,” the sequel finds Mescal crossing paths with those who wronged him in the gladiatorial arena with an A-list ensemble that includes Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington. It’ll be in theaters November 22. LINK: https://youtu.be/4rgYUipGJNo

★ Jimmy Kimmel’s son is “doing great” following his open-heart surgery. His youngest, 7-year-old Billy, suffers a congenital heart condition which affects blood flow, and recently underwent his third operation. Kimmel told “Entertainment Tonight”: “He’s got the scars and everything, but he’s just mentally right back where he was, which is crazy. Physically, you know, we’re gonna have to be careful with him for a couple of months but he’s doing really well.”

A cause of death was not disclosed. His first major TV role was that of lawyer ‘Joe Kelly’ on General Hospital from 1979-82, during which he picked up a Daytime Emmy nomination. The following year, Sheehan joined the cast of Knots Landing as journalist ‘Ben Gibson’.

BS MUSIC NOTES:

• Katy Perry – will not only release her hotly-anticipated new single ‘Woman’s World’ tomorrow, she also has a racy new collab with Kim Petras on the way. The song has been called “a tongue-in-cheek track which is sure to raise a few eyebrows”, and will appear on Perry’s upcoming 7th studio album, which is rumored to be called “143”, internet slang for “I Love You”.
• Lady Gaga — wrapped up her Jazz + Piano residency in Las Vegas on Saturday, but promised fans she’ll return with “a whole new show”. Billboard has reported that at another time during the final run of shows, she told the crowd that the new show will be “pop.” Jazz + Piano began in 2019.
• Queens of the Stone Age — have scheduled a concert at the Catacombs of Paris. Josh Homme made the announcement during a press conference at Hellfest 2024, claiming QOTSA will be the first band to play there after he spent “18 years” trying to book it. The Catacombs are an underground site dating back to the 1700s, which hold the remains of more than 6 million people.
• Duran Duran — has announced tour dates for this fall. The shows are built around the group’s annual “Danse Macabre” Halloween show at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Seven shows are scheduled in that region starting Oct. 21 in Allentown PA. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/3s8bnn4y
• Rod Stewart – has no plans to retire – ever. His wife Penny Lancaster told HELLO! magazine that the 79-year-old “loves what he does so much and will never retire.” 53-year-old Lancaster also said that she struggles “to keep up with his training schedule. He works out 3 or 4 four times a week – even on tour.”
• Megan Moroney — As a longtime Kenny Chesney fan, opening for him on his “Sun Goes Down Tour” is definitely a thrill. Quote: “It’s the most insane thing ever. I get asked…what my dream tour is, and like, I think I’m on it. And then I get to watch Kenny Chesney perform like 2 hours of hits every single night that I grew up listening to…I’m like, ‘Pinch me, this is so cool.’”
• Carly Pearce — Her next single, the follow-up to the Chris Stapleton collab ‘We Don’t Fight Anymore’, will hit the airwaves on July 29. ‘Truck on Fire’, from her latest album “hummingbird”, tells the story of a scorned woman’s desire to set her cheating ex’s truck ablaze. LINK: https://youtu.be/B7DwJ2cASFo
• Wynonna Judd – After 9 years away, she’ll return to The Venetian Resort Las Vegas for 3 shows in December. Quote: “This is a milestone year for me. Mom and I played our very first show in 1984, which means I’ve been performing live for 40 years…’The Greatest Hits’ celebration is a chance for the fans and I to celebrate. SHOOTING THE BULL

BEAUTY IS IN THE IRIS OF THE BEHOLDER:
You might think that when it comes to facial attractiveness, eye color might be among the strongest factors. Not so, says new research. But oddly, the size of your irises is. A study published in the journal Cognition determined that people appear more attractive when their irises are expanded, showing more brightness in their eyes. The iris is the colored part of the eye that surrounds the pupil. Pupil size is controlled by autonomic bodily functions, usually triggered by changes in light. Researchers also found that eye color had no significant bearing on perceived attractiveness.
(We look more attractive when our pupils are smaller? Weird. Because I’ve always been told that I look better in a dark room!)
(Well, you know what they say about a guy with large irises…)

ALL DOWNHILL FROM HERE:
A clean-up crew tasked with clearing Mount Everest of decades worth of trash left behind by climbers says the job is going to take years.  The crew of soldiers and Sherpas, funded by the government of Nepal, has so far removed 11 metric tons (24,000lbs) of garbage, 4 dead bodies and a skeleton from Everest. And Ang Babu Sherpa, the leader of the sherpa team, estimates there could be as much as 50 tons (110,000lbs) still up there…at the highest camp on the mountain alone. What kind of garbage do climbers leave behind? Mostly old tents, some food packaging and gas cartridges, oxygen bottles, and ropes – in addition to garbage “in layers and frozen”, Babu said. In recent years, Nepal has required that climbers bring back their garbage or lose their deposits, which has significantly reduced the amount of garbage left behind.
(Is this what they mean by a “mounting problem”?)
(I’ve been thinking of climbing Mt. Everest again. I mean, I’ve never done it, but I’ve thought about it like 10 times now!)

OFF THE WALMART:
Some Walmart stores in the Toronto area are experimenting with what they are calling a “sensory-friendly experience” to make shopping trips easier for those with disabilities, who are sensitive to busy environments, or who are just looking for some peace and quiet while they do their thing. Every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at participating stores, the lights are lowered, the music is shut off, and announcements are halted. TVs in the entertainment section display a blue screen, and are, of course, silent. While the idea isn’t new, it is becoming more popular these days, with grocers, toy stores, and even theaters dabbling in the practice. A Walmart spokesperson points out that the program is not only good for those with sensitivities, but also for those who prefer to “spend a bit more time and (not) feel as rushed” as they might during prime shopping hours.
(But can they also please do something about that “beep” sound I hear for EVERY STINKING ITEM that they run across the scanner before I can get out of there?)
(They should also have a dedicated day for people who promise not to block the grocery aisles with their cart!)

TOP MOVIES OF THE 1980S:
These are the era-defining films of the decade, according to a survey of multiple sources…
1. Raging Bull (1980): Not what you were expecting, I know. It contains one of the all-time-great feats of directing (Martin Scorsese) and one of the all-time-great feats of screen acting (Robert DeNiro).
2. Blade Runner (1982): Harrison Ford’s ‘Dekard’ is sent to kill 4 escaped androids, but falls in love with one of them. Like fine wine, this film gets better with age.
3. The Empire Strikes Back (1980): Rather than trying to recreate what worked in “Star Wars”, George Lucas and Co. pushed forward with their epic story, presenting huge character twists and a plot that arced toward an enormous cliffhanger.
4. The Shining (1980): Has there ever been a scarier movie than Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of Steven King’s haunted-hotel novel? The famous climax—involving crazy-eyed Jack Nicholson and an axe, is actually less terrifying than the slow build that leads up to it.
5. Do the Right Thing (1989): Set over the course of one day on a single block, Spike Lee’s masterpiece about racial tensions in Brooklyn during a heatwave is at first hilarious, then devastating.
6. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981): Harrison Ford emerged as a leading man for the ages as ‘Indiana Jones’, the archaeologist-adventurer in Spielberg and Lucas’s globe-hopping saga. From the booby-trapped opening sequence to the Nazi-melting climax, it is pure Hollywood perfection. (Was the guy in EVERY movie that decade?)
7. When Harry Met Sally (1989): The ultimate rom-com. The story of Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan’s characters, which wavers for years on the line between love and friendship, is tender, timeless and funny.
(I’m still holding out for “Christmas Vacation”!)

DID YOU KNOW?
The newest Gen Z slang term is “Oomf”. What-now? It’s a term of affection that has recently been popularized online by Gen Z, but has actually existed for years. On X, it has been used as a hashtag to mean “one of my followers” since 2010. Now, young people are using it to refer to other social media users they interact with. When calling someone “bff” (best friend forever), your friend is fully aware they have a close spot in your heart — but anyone can be oomf – and that anonymity is part of the word’s appeal, because you can covertly say things about them. (Of course, I usually simply go with “mof”, which stands for “My one follower”. And yes, my one follower IS my mom, thank you very much!)
