Now You’re Fulla Sheet!

BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Hulk Hogan’s son Nick has finally addressed his dad’s passing, breaking his silence with a heartfelt post to Instagram. He dropped a trove of photos from over the years, dating back to when he was a kid and his dad ruled the ring — and continuing to their time advertising Hulk’s beer brand “Real American” together. Hogan called Hulk his “hero” and the “greatest dad in the world”, and finished the statement by saying he’s grateful to know he’s got a guardian angel like Hulk looking out for him now. ★ Calling all “Friends” fans: An extremely cool installation just opened in Las Vegas, and among the highlights is the fact that you can get married in a replica of the chapel where ‘Ross’ (played by David Schwimmer) and Jennifer Aniston’s ‘Rachel’ got married in the season 5 finale “The One in Vegas.” “The Friends Experience: The One in Vegas” is now open at the MGM Grand, “inviting fans to step into the world of the legendary series — this time in the city that played host to one of the show’s most memorable storylines,” according to the press release.

★ Tom Cruise was one of the many celebs who attended Oasis‘ sold-out concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium. It was a big deal, given the history between the actor and the band. The Gallagher brothers roasted Cruise during a scene in the 2007 rock documentary “Lord Don’t Slow Me Down.” The movie followed Oasis on a world tour, and featured Noel saying on camera: “He’s a little (bleep!), and he’s not been in one good film in his entire career.” Liam adds: “I hate Tom Cruise.” Cruise reportedly confronted Liam Gallagher years later, and reminded him that he also said in the documentary that “Cocktail” was a good movie. The two appeared to shake hands before parting ways.

★ Anne Rice’s “Interview with the Vampire” is getting a new name and some new cast members as it enters its third season. The AMC drama will be known as “The Vampire Lestat” for season 3 as it focuses on the second book in her Vampire Chronicles series. In season 3, ‘Vampire Lestat’ sets his story straight in a way only he can — by starting a band and going on tour. No official debut date yet, but we know it’ll happen sometime next year.

★ Adam Sandler found a way to subtly pay tribute to his former onscreen son, Cameron Boyce, in “Happy Gilmore 2”. Boyce died in 2019 at age 20 due to a seizure. He was most known for his roles in “Descendants”, “Jessie” and “Mrs. Fletcher”. Disney fans were quick to spot Boyce’s tribute in the Happy Gilmore sequel, where, after ‘Happy’ is seen approaching a golfing check-in booth, the scene cuts to 2 people watching a small television. That’s when viewers get a quick glimpse of Boyce on the screen, in what appears to be an episode from his Disney Channel show Jessie, where he played ‘Luke Ross’ from 2011-15.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• The Weeknd – Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow presented him with a key to the city as he returned to play 4 shows in his hometown. The ceremonial honor was bestowed Saturday in recognition of how he has “reshaped modern music” and supported health and humanitarian causes in Toronto and abroad.
• Jennifer Lopez – Her skirt ended up “On the Floor” during her Friday show in Warsaw, but she handled the mid-performance wardrobe malfunction like a pro. She recently celebrated her 56th birthday, and as her dancers and band wished her a happy birthday, the her skirt fell to the ground. The moment, which was shared on IG, shows her remarking: “I’m glad I had underwear on. I don’t usually wear underwear.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4metwkeb
• Destiny’s Child — Fans at Beyoncé’s final “Cowboy Carter” show in Vegas on Saturday were surprised when the iconic girl group reunited onstage at Allegiant Stadium. The crowd erupted as Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams joined Bey to run through some of their hits, including ‘Bootylicious’ and ‘Lose My Breath’. The trio hadn’t performed together since Beyoncé’s 2018 Coachella set.
• Ozzy Osbourne – His hits collection “The Essential Ozzy Osbourne” earned nearly 44,000 equivalent album units last week, debuting at #7 on the albums chart. It previously peaked at #81 in 2003, the year it was released. He died July 22.
• Billy Joel – Friday, he released “And So it Goes”, a 7-hour 155-song soundtrack to the HBO documentary of the same name. It includes dozens of previously unreleased songs, including rare radio performances, live cuts, and special mixes of songs created especially for the film.
• Led Zeppelin — A guitar once owned by Jimmy Page is going up for auction. The 1957 Gretsch Chet Atkins 6120 electric that Page purchased in Nashville for about $270 is expected to go for $40-70K, when the auction happens Sept. 9 in England. It was sold in 1990 for $3,000.
• Conner Smith — is preparing to take the stage at the Grand Ole Opry less than 2 months after his involvement in a fatal car accident. He has announced he’ll appear there tomorrow, and wrote: “Grateful to step back onstage Wednesday. Thankful to the church of country music.”
• Zac Brown Band — Zac Brown says that mounting their upcoming residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas, he’s “going into debt to make it happen.” He didn’t share specifics on how much it costs to fund a residency there, but did say the venue, known for its state-of-the-art, immersive production capabilities, is a new benchmark in the band’s legacy.
• Chris Stapleton — was a guest on “Sesame Street” and he sang with ‘Elmo’. The “awww”-inducing clips shows him gracing the kid’s show set with his long locks and slick chops to sing ‘You Got A Friend In Music’, a take on Randy Newman’s ‘You Got A Friend In Me’. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/4deemyxt

SHOOTING THE BULL

OH, NO: NO JOE:
Almost everyone “needs” that early caffeine jolt to energize themselves in the morning. But according to research, its effects lessen over time with consistent consumption. If you’re finding that you need to drink more and more coffee to get that same boost, some medical experts say you can try resetting your tolerance by using the 3:1 rule. The what-now? The 3:1 coffee hack involves drinking coffee for 3 weeks as you usually would, and then taking a week off. The caffeine-free week gives your body a chance to reset, so you can feel caffeine’s effects more strongly when you start drinking it again. Lindsay Malone, an instructor and clinical dietitian at Case Western Reserve University, says the 3:1 rule “may restore coffee’s energizing effects more fully.” It is also said to be effective for some who would like to decrease their overall caffeine intake, and become less reliant on the stuff. The problem? Dara Ford, Master of Science in Nutrition Education at American University, said that the 3:1 coffee hack can also result in one week of withdrawal symptoms every month. Those include headache, fatigue, irritability, and brain fog.
(Yes – but what about what might happen to my co-workers?)
(Warning: that week without coffee might leave more than your mood backed up!)

PICKED UP – BUT NOT “PICKED UP”:
Uber just announced a new feature: Riders will soon be able to request women drivers. Similar to how now, you can choose an UberXL, you’ll be able to set a “Women Drivers” preference in the app. It’s not guaranteed, but Uber will try to match you with a female driver when possible. You can even pre-schedule rides with that preference. “Lady Uber” is launching first in Los Angeles, Detroit, and San Francisco, then will roll out across the US, and, presumably, in other countries later on. Lyft started something similar in the US last year. Only about 20% of Uber drivers are women, but the company is also letting female drivers prioritize picking up women passengers — something many have asked for, especially with ongoing concerns about safety during rides.
(Finally! You’ll be able to get a ride – without being mansplained to!)
(Lady Uber: Because I’d rather sit in silence than hear a driver blather endlessly about crypto!)

SCIENTISTS SAY:
❑ New research shows that Yoga, Tai Chi, walking, and even jogging can help people with insomnia improve their sleep quality. A team at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine found that yoga boosted total sleep time by an average of 110 minutes per night, outperforming other exercise types. Tai Chi practitioners gained about 52 minutes of sleep per night; while walking and jogging was found to most effectively reduce insomnia severity, helping people feel better during the day. The scientists say that exercise can be a low-cost, accessible alternative to sleeping pills and therapy, but more research is needed. (…and I say, until then, why risk it?)
❑ Eating 2 eggs per day could actually lower your “bad” LDL cholesterol, according to University of South Australia researchers — but only when part of a low-saturated fat diet. They found that saturated fat intake, not dietary cholesterol, is directly linked to heart disease risk. In a finding that could reshape how we think about breakfast and heart health, the scientists concluded that eggs are not cholesterol villains, and the real problem may have been lurking in butter, full-fat dairy, and fatty meats all along. (So, for the last 30 years, they’ve been blaming eggs – and I’ve been slamming my arteries shut by deep-frying cheese in bacon grease the whole time?)

(INFAMOUS) LAST WORDS:
What would be your dying wish? These are some odd last requests from well-known people…
Harry Houdini: The famous escape artist instructed to be buried in the “trick” coffin he used in his magic act — with letters from his mother tucked beneath his head. (His best escape trick ever: Getting out of paying for a new casket!)
William Shakespeare: Wanted his oldest daughter, Susanna, to inherit his favorite bed. He left his wife his “second best bed.” (That’s not a will, that’s a passive-aggressive mic drop!)
Eleanor Roosevelt: Fearful of being buried alive, the former first lady requested that her major veins be slashed to eliminate the possibility of regaining consciousness before her cremation. (I guess she wasn’t concerned about waking up while some poor doctor was dutifully slashing her veins?)
President Andrew Johnson: The 17th US president asked to be wrapped in an American flag with a copy of the U.S. Constitution placed beneath his head. (Patriotic – but not very comfortable!)
P. T. Barnum: Wanted to keep the Barnum name, which was synonyms with circuses, from dying with him, so he left his grandson, Clinton Seeley, $25,000—on the condition that he change his middle name to Barnum. He did. (Fine – Not my circus – not my clown!)
Janis Joplin: Asked friends to have a farewell party for her at her favorite pub, the Lion’s Share, in California—and left $2,500 in her will to finance it. (“Lord, won’t you buy me, a round for my friends?”)
Albert Einstein: No one knows what his last wishes were. Why? On his deathbed, he said something in German to his nurse — but she didn’t speak German. (Somewhere out there is the Theory of Everything, lost in translation!)

DID YOU KNOW?
Nearly half of adults have trouble reading their own handwriting, according to new research. A survey of 2,000 adults in the US found that not only do 45% of people struggle to figure out their own scribblings, but their poor penmanship has led, on average, to 2 instances of miscommunication with work colleagues. And despite the fact that so many have trouble reading their own work, many of us still prefer handwritten material. 86% said they write notes to themselves as their main method of organization, most often in the form of “lists”. The most-misread items were grocery lists, greeting or holiday cards, and thank-you notes. (But – who doesn’t love a good mystery?)

BS CHRONOMETER 07.29.25

BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “International Lasagna Day”, celebrating the famous Italian dish that’s become a worldwide favorite. Almost all recipes for the “perfect lasagna” feature ricotta as the cheese of choice.
• “Chicken Wing Day”, first proclaimed in 1977 by Buffalo NY mayor Stan Makowski. Legend has it that spicy “Buffalo Wings” were invented at the city’s Anchor Bar in 1964. (This is turning out to be the BEST DAY EVER!)
• “International Tiger Day”, to promote a global system for protecting the natural habitats of tigers, and to raise awareness and support for tiger conservation issues. BS FAST TIGER FACTS:
→ They are the largest cats in the world.
→ A tiger’s roar can be heard up to 3km (1.9m) away.
→ Tigers’ canine teeth have pressure-sensing nerves, enabling it to know exactly where to deliver the killing bite to its prey.
• “Lipstick Day”. The first traces of lipstick are thought to date back to ancient times near the Sumerian city of Ur in Mesopotamia, where a queen colored her lips by crushing red rocks and putting them in a paste of white lead. Lip colorings then were also made from henna, clay rust, insects, and fruits. (Is now a good time to mention that 2 very common ingredients of lipstick today are pig fat . . . and fish scales?)
• “Rain Day” in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. It’s an annual festival that started when a local farmer noticed it always seems to rain on July 29th. They now claim it’s rained on this date in 118 of the 151 years since. (Do they have an alternate date in case of sun?) LINK: http://raindayfestival.com/
• “Cheese Sacrifice Purchase Day”. Originally, people would buy cheese on this day and “sacrifice” it by using it in mouse traps. Thanks to newer methods of pest control, we don’t need cheese to catch pests anymore, so some use the occasion to sacrifice cheese in other ways, such as in a recipe. Or, you could sacrifice money by buying some really expensive cheese…

BULL’S BITS

BS WHACK FACTS:
✓ Both U.S. and Russian militaries have trained dolphins. They can be used for rescuing lost naval swimmers and locating underwater mines.
✓ The word “Infantry” sounds like “infant,” because in ancient times, an army’s infantry typically consisted of soldiers too young or too inexperienced to ride a horse and be part of the cavalry.
✓ Earth’s total population of insects is estimated to be a billion times greater than that of humans.
✓ Kraft singles cannot be advertised as in the US as cheese because FDA standards state a food can only be called cheese if it contains “at least 51% real cheese”.
✓ Being in a negative relationship can weaken your immune system.
✓ The Eiffel Tower was planned to be erected in Barcelona, but the project was rejected because citizens thought it was an eyesore.

TODAY’S SCOOP OF BS:
➠ Snoop Dogg has a new puppy and it made his debut on Instagram recently. (It’s a matty-haired weathered creature that humps everything in sight. Not sure about the dog, though…)
➠ Kim Kardashian and Nike are teaming up with product releases to be announced soon. Experts say the partnership could make her a billion dollars. (But keep in mind she has to give 10% to her manager, 10% to her agent — and 10% to Satan…)
➠ National Clown Week begins on Friday. (I love it when clowns throw a bucket of confetti on people. It’s one of 2 things in the world that never grows old. The other is Paul Rudd.)
➠ Last week was “Shark Week”. I looked it up. Sharks kill about 5 people on average every year, while cows kill about 20. (But that wouldn’t make for a very scary movie. Have you ever tried playing the “Jaws” theme on a cowbell?)
➠ Fact of the Day: By peeing in the shower, you can save about 1,160 gallons of water a year. (What kinda savings can I expect for peeing in the dishwasher? What? Only me?)

BS WEB GOODIE:

BS PHONE STARTER:
Batman got his name from his fear of bats. Using that logic, what is your superhero name?

BS WATER COOLER QUESTION:
A study found that 5% of us are deathly afraid of THIS animal? What is it?
Answer:  Birds

BS DEEP THOUGHT:
A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.
