BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Duane Chapman is asking for prayers after revealing his wife Beth is in a medically-induced coma. The family of Beth Chapman announced that she has been admitted to the ICU at the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Dog the Bounty Hunter released a statement saying he and his family “humbly ask everyone to please pray for Beth.” He also thanked their fans “for their prayers throughout Beth’s battle with cancer.”

★ Jon Hamm has revealed “Top Gun: Maverick” will be shot in “mind-blowing” 6K definition. He spilled some details on what fans can expect from the long-awaited sequel to the 1986 original and teased the crystal-clear visuals and stunts which he says will leave viewers with their jaws to the floor. Hamm says that not only is the aerial footage mind-blowing, “it’s mostly real”. He says that there wasn’t a lot of CGI used for the scenes. Although Hamm appears in the movie, he isn’t allowed to talk about his role. The movie has been pushed back by just over 11 months for a June 2020 arrival in theatres.

★ Some fans are angry with “Spider-Man” Tom Holland for openly spoiling a pivotal moment in “Avengers: Endgame”, despite the fact that the film was released in April. Marvel Studios and directors went to great lengths to preserve the secrecy of the movie, even handing out incomplete or fake scripts to the cast, and personally appealing to the public to not spoil the events of the movie. For the most part, the campaign against spoilers worked, but months after its release, some are claiming that the film was spoiled for them by Holland when he dished about Iron Man’s fate during an appearance on “The Graham Norton Show.”
-Screenrant
★ Batman and Burt Ward are both getting stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The news is ground-breaking because it marks the first time a comic book hero will be given a star. Burt Ward played Robin opposite Adam West, who portrayed Batman/Bruce Wayne in the 1960s series and for fans, this is a decision that has been a long-time coming. Adam West received his star in 2012. Now, Hollywood isn’t only recognizing Adam West as Batman, but the iconic character as well and his sidekick, Boy Wonder Robin who was played by Ward.

Gallagher says: “They take 18 months to two years to build and I thought I will easily have learned to drive.” But when the car arrived, he had no recollection of even buying the car, and he still hadn’t passed his driving test.
• (***UPDATE***) Alice Cooper – has responded to reports that he said he has a ”death pact” with his wife of 43 years, Sheryl Goddard. In a release, he said that they “do NOT have a death pact. We have a LIFE pact…What I was meaning was that because we’re almost always together…if something did happen to either of us, we’d most likely be together at the time. But neither…has a suicide pact. And, besides, I’m booked through 2028, so…”
•  The Allman Brothers Band – will release an archival live package, “Fillmore West ’71”- documenting the band’s three-show series at the famed San Francisco venue as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations. THIS WEEK’S VIDEO RELEASES (DVD/Blu-ray):
• “Dumbo” (PG, Animation/Family):  A young elephant, whose oversized ears enable him to fly, helps save a struggling circus, but when the circus plans a new venture, Dumbo and his friends discover dark secrets beneath its shiny veneer. (Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito)

• “The Hummingbird Project” (R-Rated, Comedy/Drama):  Cousins from New York are players in the high-stakes game of High-Frequency Trading, where winning is measured in milliseconds. Their dream? To build a straight fiber-optic cable line between Kansas and New Jersey, making them millions. (Jesse Eisenberg, Alexander Skarsgård, Salma Hayek)
• “Isabelle” (R-Rated, Horror):  After moving into the perfect New England neighborhood, a couple’s dream of starting a family shatters as they struggle to survive an evil spirit that wants nothing more than their own lives. (Amanda Crew, Adam Brody)

HAZARDS OF BEING A HANDYMAN:
Some people buy their home and it’s good to go. Others think they can save a few bucks by purchasing a “fixer-upper” and doing renovations once they move in. But while a fixer-upper may have a lower purchase price, a study found that people who buy them often end up spending as much or more as people who purchase a turnkey house, once all the expenses are figured in. A survey of American homebuyers found that on average, those who bought turnkey houses spent $250,496, while those who purchased fixer-uppers bought their homes for $199,819. After fixer-upper homeowners paid for renovations, those who stayed within budget spent on average $246,891 in total. BUT: 44% of fixer-upper homeowners went over budget, spending on average 38% more than they expected. Among those who overspent on renos, their average total came to $275,741, about $25,000 more than the average cost of a turnkey house.
The most budget-unfriendly home project? Installing a new HVAC system.
(Plus, if you buy a house that doesn’t need renovations, you don’t live in a coating of dust for the first 5 years!)
(I have never in my life said the word “fixer-upper” that many times in one paragraph!)
(I’m not going to say that I’m not handy, but I was on my third house before I found out that D.I.Y. doesn’t stand for “Destroy It Yourself”!)

THEY WOODN’T…WOOD THEY?
Now that society has managed to make the use of plastic straws and utensils politically incorrect, here’s what might be next: campfires. Due to lack of rainfall, many wilderness areas in the U.S. are declaring a partial or outright ban on campfires which are expected to last for much of the summer. But the risk of wildfires isn’t the only reason that campfires are being snuffed out. There are also concerns about the amount of pollution that burning wood causes, and its effect on the environment. Then there are the related health problems that can be caused or exacerbated by inhaling the smoke. And it may sound nit-picky, but others have expressed concerns about the trash and other foreign matter which inevitably gets thrown into a typical campfire, causing environmental harm, plus the risk of invasive foreign species whenever campers transport firewood from home to their getaway location.
(Plastic forks AND campfires?  I think they’re pretty much made camping impossible!)
(I think they just single-handedly caused the end of the Boy Scouts organization!)
(At least Smokey the Bear will be happy!)

HOT WEATHER HACKS:
➠ Build an air conditioner out of a bucket:  Fashion a five-gallon bucket into a makeshift air conditioner by attaching a few PVC sections to its edges, filling it with ice water, and pushing air from tiny fan through the top. The best part? It doesn’t hog up a whole window. (Just don’t ‘kick the bucket’!)
➠ Make aloe ice cubes:  Be ready for that inevitable sunburn. Pick up a bottle of aloe vera gel and fill an ice cube tray. Remove them as needed to cool off your beet-red skin. (It’s funny, because my usual treatment for sunburn ALSO involves a lot of ice cubes!)
➠ Freeze a sponge:  Soak it, toss it in a Ziplock bag, and leave it in the freezer. When you are melting from the heat, take it out and rest it on your forehead or wrists. You’ll cool down without getting soaked, since the sponge will absorb any residual moisture as it warms.
➠ Wear wet socks to bed:  For those unbearably hot nights, place a towel at bottom of your bed and slip on a pair of socks you’ve soaked in cold water. Point a fan at your feet and prepare for a prolonged chill to tingle up your spine. (I’d rather be warm than damp, thank you!)
➠ Freeze your pillowcases and sheets:  To better fall asleep on those humid nights, stash a few pillowcases in a sealed bag in the freezer and slip them on before you hit the hay. You’ll be surprised how well it works to cool you down. (For an added thrill, try it with your boxers!)

DID YOU KNOW?
If your mouth is on fire from eating spicy food, try whipped cream. Research shows whipped cream contains a protein that relieves spicy food “burn” better than water.
