BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
TONIGHT Kevin Federline parties at Privé Las Vegas, where he’ll be presented an award for ‘Father Of the Year’, an informal honor for his ‘selfless efforts’ on behalf of his brood of 4 kids (who must be incredibly proud daddy’s out getting juiced in a nightclub) . . . “Grey’s Anatomy“ Katherine Heigl has officially withdrawn her name from consideration for another “Emmy Award”, saying she doesn’t feel the material she was given THIS SEASON warrants a nomination (meow, what a back-handed slap at the writers!) . . . Dr Jason Rothbart, the LA ob-gyn who delivered Tori Spelling’s baby daughter MONDAY is also booked to oversee Angelina Jolie’s pregnancy, reportedly planning a trip to France later THIS SUMMER when the due date for Brangelina’s twins is near (they flew him to Namibia to deliver Shiloh 2 years ago) . . . Angelina Jolie & Jennifer Aniston are set for a throwdown at the box office OCTOBER 24th when both have films scheduled to come out (Jolie’s drama “Changeling” in limited release and Aniston’s rom-com “He’s Just Not That Into You”) . . . The makers of “Gossip Girl” (CW) are planning a spinoff series set in a girls’ boarding school, either by giving co-star Taylor Momsen her own show or by introducing a new character THIS FALL who is later spun off . . . “Kung Fu Panda” star Jack Black has pulled out of the upcoming movie comedy “Man-Witch”, about a male witch who takes a gig teaching at a female witch school, without giving any reason (maybe he just read the synopsis?) . . . The Walt Disney Co has announced it will stream full-length movies FREE on its website for a week after they’re broadcast on ABC-TV’s “Wonderful World of Disney” THIS SUMMER (films include “Finding Nemo”, “Monsters Inc”, “Peter Pan”, and “The Princess Diaries 2“) . . . And word has it movie star George Clooney actually broke up with his 29-year-old former cocktail waitress-girlfriend, Sarah Larson, earlier than thought, shortly after she had a breast augmentation in mid-MAY but out of courtesy he allowed her to hang at his house to recoup (so to speak).

POOR DAD NEEDS A TEAM OF WRITERS:
College kids believe that fictional fathers on TV are more loving and supportive than real dads. A study at NYC’s Marymount Manhattan College has found that students rate TV dads better than real dads in every category, including such qualities as ‘support’, ‘guidance’, and ‘acceptance of other family members’. The study also finds that kids blame constant work demands for their father’s inability to live up to the standards set by TV dads.

SCREEN TIME TO INCREASE:
The increasing popularity of online video, video games, and mobile video will push the daily time we spend in front of screens to 8 hours by the year 2013, according to a new study from Solutions Research Group. Currently the average person spends about 6 hours a day with screen-based entertainment, compared with 4.6 hours in 1996. DIESELS ARE GREEN?
A trendy hybrid might be a badge of your eco-friendly credentials but it’s no better for the environment than an old-fashioned and less fashionable diesel. A new study by a British environmental website has found that diesels use less fuel and therefore emit less CO2 than hybrids. The researchers conclude that hybrid technology offers the prospect of real benefits, but only with the next generation of plug-in hybrids using more advanced lithium-ion batteries which are expected in 2010.

• “Blame Someone Else Day”, observed annually on the 1st FRIDAY the 13th of the year to allow us to assign responsibility for all of life’s woes on something or somebody else.
• “Friday the 13th”, perceived by many to be an unlucky day. A learned behavior, ‘triskaidekaphobia’ (fear of the number 13) leads some people to take drastic steps not to put their lives at risk on the 13th of the month. No one can say for certain why, how, or when the number 13 got the bad rap. A few facts …
– Fear of the number 13 costs Americans $1 billion per year.
– There is only one Friday the 13th for all of 2008 (there can be as many as 3). The next one won’t arrive until FEBRUARY 2009.
• “Kitchen Klutzes Day”, celebrating not-so-accomplished cooks by encouraging them to prepare a recipe that contains no more than 4 ingredients, not including water, salt & pepper. (What’s the easiest dinner to make? ‘Wiener Water Soup’?)
