Ahhhh, It’s Your Daily Bovine Colonic!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Keanu Reeves’ struggle to nail the title of the first John Wick movie prompted filmmakers to change the title. The title of the 2014 blockbuster, which centres on Reeves’ action hero character, was initially called “Scorn” but Reeves failed to refer to the film properly in interviews. Screenwriter Derek Kolstad told Comicbook.com: “The only reason it’s called John Wick is that Keanu kept referring to it as John Wick. Marketing was like, ‘Dude, that’s four to five million dollars in free advertising so far, so it’s John Wick instead of Scorn.” The change worked out, with the film becoming a huge hit spawning three sequels, including “John Wick: Chapter 4”, which is set to be released next year.

★ Just a few weeks ago, Netflix confirmed that the dark comedy “After Life” will be returning for a third and final season. But they can take comfort in the knowledge that Ricky Gervais already has an idea for another show. Gervais confirmed that he has been working on another series, while also making progress writing the last season of After Life while in lockdown. He has a deal with Netflix to “produce both scripted series and stand up comedy”.

★ John Cusack was attacked by Chicago police after filming protests and riots in the city. He’s been using social media to document the protests that have arisen in the city in the wake of the death of George Floyd. Cusack wrote on Twitter: “Cops didn’t like me filming the burning car so they came at me with batons. Hitting my bike.” In video of the incident, also posted by Cusack, a police officer can be heard shouting at Cusack to move, alongside sounds of metal hitting metal.

★ Michael Angelis, best known as the long-term narrator of Thomas The Tank Engine series “Thomas And Friends”, has died at the age of 76. He lent his voice to the children’s TV program for 21 years, taking over from Ringo Starr in 1991, when it was called “Thomas The Tank Engine and Friends”.

• Jennifer Lopez – She and Alex Rodriguez apparently aren’t giving up on their desire to purchase the New York Mets. The pair are said to be willing to invest “hundreds of millions” out of their pockets to acquire the team.

Coaches Guy Sebastian, Boy George, Delta Goodrem and Kelly Rowland all agreed, then surprised the contestant by FaceTiming Bublé so he could listen to Meywes sing.
• John Legend – feels that some tracks on his upcoming album have become ”more relevant” due to the pandemic. “Bigger Love” comes out June 19, and he says the title track “felt like a simple love song before, but now it feels more like it’s about resilience and hope in dark times.”’
• Ice-T — wants to create a retirement fund for ageing rappers. Swizz Beats brought up the concept last month, saying that a lot of rappers have fallen on hard times. T says that some of the earliest rap stars never made much money during their careers.
• Elton John — hosted a virtual viewing party for his biopic “Rocketman” on Friday night, and tweeted anecdotes and commentary along the way. Among them, he joked: “It took a fairly Herculean effort to get yourself noticed for taking too much cocaine in the music industry of 1970s L.A., but I was clearly prepared to put the hours in.”
• Mötley Crüe – Their “Summer Stadium Tour” with Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett has been postponed to next summer due to the coronavirus pandemic. A statement posted to Twitter says “tickets will be honored for all postponed shows and refund policy information will be made available shortly. Stay tuned, be safe and we will see you next year!”
• AC/DC — Astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken listened to the group’s classic song ‘Back In Black’ just prior to the launch of the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft Saturday from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. They were awakened on Sunday to Black Sabbath’s ‘Planet Caravan’ with the lyrics, “We sail through endless skies, stars shine like eyes.”
• Sinéad O’Connor – says she is planning to become a healthcare worker. Appearing on Irish TV show, she said she’s been accepted to a college program and hopes to do palliative care for “people who for one reason or another don’t have family ’round or are on their own.”
• Dan + Shay — have been mostly inactive on social media since early March, but on Saturday as riots and protests raged over the police killing of George Floyd, they urged fans to “use your voice” and help make a positive change in America. They also mentioned that they have been taking social distancing precautions very seriously while prepping the release of new music.
• Tyler Farr – The ‘A Guy Walks Into a Bar’ singer will release the four-song EP, “Only Truck in Town,” on June 5. It’s produced by Jason Aldean.

HOLIDEALS:
In the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic, some countries are so desperate for tourism dollars that they are offering to pay people to come and visit. According to a report from the UK, Italy has a fund of $55 million (US) that will be used to encourage travelers to visit Sicily. That stimulus will pay for half of travelers’ plane tickets along with 1 out of every 3 nights spent in a hotel. And Mexico is offering to foot half the hotel bill for Cancun tourists. In Japan, a campaign is being considered to pay for half of traveler’s airfares (domestic only) in an effort to get locals traveling.
(Do you see this taking off?)
(Remember when flying was the most dangerous part of taking a holiday?)
(This will really test those of us who’ve gone on holiday and said “You couldn’t pay me to go back there!”)

BRAKE N’ BAKE:
Ford has come up with a pretty awesome idea to keep its lineup of Police Interceptor vehicles COVID-free. A new software update, called “Interior Cabin Heat Soak,” enables the vehicles heat their interior cabins to 133 degrees Fahrenheit (56C) to neutralize any infected surfaces. Because there is no way that the existing climate system on a vehicle would be able to provide that kind of heat, the vehicle redirects hot coolant from the engine, allowing the cabin to reach a crispy 133 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes. Ford says the system is capable of neutralizing 99 percent of viral contaminants. They suggest police officers should use the feature at the start and end of each shift, when the vehicle changes hands. Ford’s system raises the possibility that the rideshare industry, which has been thrown into turmoil by the pandemic, could use similar technology.
(My last car had that feature. And by that, I mean it leaked coolant onto the seats…)
(Cop note to self: “Do NOT leave ham and cheese sandwich in car!”)
(Keep your “hot wheels” jokes to yourself…)

TAKING SIDES:
What’s the best sleep position if you want to feel top-notch the next day? According to science, it’s on your side. Sleeping on your side keeps your spine straight and aligned by helping to “prevent stress points that may aggravate joints and connective tissue,” according to Dr. Robert Hayden, who is a Georgia-based chiropractor and spokesperson for the American Chiropractic Association. Side sleeping is also crucial for those who snore or suffer from sleep apnea, because it is an effective way to keep airways open. How do you teach yourself to sleep on your side? Experts recommend placing a body pillow under your torso to support your upper arm and knee, and placing another pillow between your knees to relieve any pain and help keep your pelvis aligned. And your head on the pillow should remain level with the mattress.
(It’s a good thing my wife has 700 pillows laying around…)
(I’m sitting here wondering how the heck I’m supposed to sleep on my side – on a La-Z-Boy!)
(That’s strange, because according to my wife, the best position for me to sleep is with no covers, my spine twisted into an unnatural position, and her cold feet firmly planted in the middle of my back!)

DID YOU KNOW?
According to a survey, the average person has missed four significant events while on lockdown, and attended five virtual events. The most common events people reported missing are birthdays, weddings, graduations, and baby showers. And those numbers could actually be higher, as the survey was taken more than a week ago. (There were a few weddings I was supposed to be at, but I didn’t “miss” one of them!)

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Rocky Road Day”, saluting the ice cream flavor that’s made with chocolate ice cream, nuts and marshmallows. (Immortalized by ‘Weird’ Al Yankovic in his Joan Jett parody, ‘I Love Rocky Road’).
• “Bubba Day”, honoring those formally named or just informally called ‘Bubba’. (We’re betting most of ’em live in ‘Dixie’.) A quick search for famous “Bubbas” reveals that all of the top 12 are nicknamed (rather than born with the name) Bubba, including President Bill ‘Bubba’ Clinton, Charles ‘Bubba’ Smith (“Police Academy”) and golfer Gerry ‘Bubba’ Watson Jr.
• “Yell Fudge at the Cobras in North America Day”. To keep the poisonous snakes off the continent, you’re supposed to go outdoors at noon and yell ‘fudge!’ Seems to be working.
• “Rotisserie Chicken Day”, This delicious style of chicken is cooked whole on a rotisserie or spit that turns continuously over a heat source, roasting it slowly. This sears the skin to seal in the flavor, resulting in a tender and juicy chicken. (And resulting in the dog laying around the kitchen all day, drooling).
• “Leave the Office Early Day”, an incentive to many who often work more than 40 hours each week. (And of course today will be the one day that the boss doesn’t!)
• “I Love My Dentist Day”, there’s no better way to show your dentist that you love them then by showing off the teeth they have helped to maintain.

TODAY’S SLICE OF BS:
➠ San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge officially opened this week in 1937, making it 83 years old. (You know the Golden Gate Bridge, right? Orange, always making a splash while swaying back and forth on the topics. . . . sorry, I’m confusing this with something else…)
