BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Late actor David Carradine’s 4th wife, Marina Anderson, launched a private investigation into her husband’s death back in 2009 after his body was found in a Bangkok, Thailand hotel suite. At the time he was ruled a victim of autoerotic asphyxiation, but his widow remains convinced her husband was murdered. In the new edition of her book, “David Carradine: The Eye of My Tornado”, Anderson details her meetings with psychics in a bid to uncover the truth, and reveals evidence that appears to prove her theories that the actor’s death was not accidental. She’s also working on a film about her life with Carradine.

★ Kanye West & Kim Kardashian attempted to book the entire Disneyland theme park in California for a 2nd birthday party for daughter North West this week. That didn’t wasn’t allowed but they did manage to throw a private party on Monday dubbed ”North’s Disney Adventure” which was also attended by other members of the Kardashian clan. Guests were provided with private escorts around the park and special passes to the front of line-ups. A Disneyland spokesperson says: ”Although we don’t comment on private visits, private parties are not uncommon here.”

★ Pop singer Rita Ora (“RIP”) has ditched her judging job on “The Voice UK” to become a mentor on Simon Cowell’s rival reality competition “The X Factor”. She will be joining returning judges, pop star Cheryl Cole (aka Cheryl Fernandez-Versini) and music mogul Cowell, plus a new addition, British radio DJ Nick Grimshaw (‘The Radio 1 Breakfast Show”). Ora has previously worked on “The X Factor” but only as a guest judge; she joined “The Voice” last year. Quote: “I am excited to be coming back to ‘The X Factor’ … I had a ball here in 2012.”

★ And the stunt duo who doubled for movie stars Charlize Theron & Tom Hardy in the action movie “Mad Max: Fury Road” have just married after finding love on-the-set during the film’s 2012 shoot. New Zealand native Dayna Porter & South African Dane Grant met in the Namib Desert in Africa in May 2012, when they were among the many stunt artists working on the post-apocalyptic film. Their constant (fake) fighting and roughhousing is said to have sparked the chemistry between them. The relationship apparently developed quickly … they already have a 14-month-old son.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Beck – His new single “Dreams” is out this week. It’s the first taste of his next album, which he describes as the ‘musical opposite’ of his last, the folk-rock “Morning Phase”. He’s yet to reveal a title or release date for it.
• Brad Paisley – Tonight he opens the Rolling Stones’ “Zip Code Tour” show at LP Field in Nashville TN. While it’s been a while since he was an opening act, he says he thinks he remembers how to do it.
• Duran Duran – “Paper Gods”, their 1st new album in 5 years, is coming this September. It features collaborations with Janelle Monae, Kiesza, Mark Ronson, and – ahem – Lindsay Lohan. The veteran group has a run of tour dates around-the-globe throughout 2015.
• George Michael – A rep has denied a report suggesting he’s been admitted to a rehab facility in Switzerland, insisting he’s simply enjoying an extended vacation. However, another report claims that friends have recently been warning him to ‘get help or die’.
• Janet Jackson – She has announced her “Unbreakable World Tour”, in support of her as-yet-untitled new album coming this Fall. The first leg has 36 dates scheduled in Canada and the USA, beginning August 31st in Vancouver BC.
• One Direction – Solo material by Zayn Malik has leaked online or is being marketed, depending on who you believe. In any event the former One Direction singer is featured on a cover of Rae Sremmurd’s “No Type”.
• Reba McEntire / Brooks & Dunn – Their residency “Reba, Brooks & Dunn: Together in Vegas” opens tonight at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, bumped ahead a week to accommodate extra dates. It’s noted in hype for the event that they’ve collectively recorded over 45 #1 hits.
• Tim McGraw – According to TheWrap.com he’s set to star in “The Shack”, his 10th movie. It’s based on the 2007 best-seller about a father whose youngest daughter is abducted during a family vacation. The film co-stars Alice Braga, Octavia Spencer, and Sam Worthington.
FROM THE BS POLL VAULT:
A statistical look at who we are and the things we do …
• 66% of us say we won’t vote for a politician who doesn’t like pets.
• 33% of married women worry about money, while only 17% of married men do.
• 27% of us forget to use deodorant on any given day.
• 25% of men wash their vehicles at least once a week.
• 11% of us think the best smell in the world is ‘the ocean’.
• 2% of us have spotted a man shaving … while driving.
BS THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT SHARKS:
✓ Despite a few recent cases garnering headlines, shark attacks on humans are extremely rare. There have been circa 500 fatal shark attacks … since 1580. That’s about 1-a-year.
✓ The Greenland Shark may be the world’s loneliest creature, living a half-mile beneath Arctic ice.
✓ It is estimated that 100 million sharks are killed as a result of commercial fishing each year.
✓ Many larger species of shark give birth to live pups, rather than laying eggs.
✓ As well as having a great set of teeth in their mouths, sharks’ bodies are also completely covered in ‘dermal denticles’, tiny tooth-like structures coated by enamel.
✓ Sharks navigate the ocean using hundreds of gel-filled pores covering their heads.
✓ The Epaulette Shark can use its fins like legs, enabling it to walk from danger when the tide’s out.
✓ Sharks go to nursery school. Or at least juvenile Lemon Sharks do, spending up to 7 years learning from each other in the shallow waters of a mangrove or coral reef.

BS BUZZWORDS:
Cutting-edge vocab …
• ‘Nones’ – People who are not affiliated with or a member of an organized religion. (The trouble with being a ‘None’ is that’s also exactly how many religious holidays you get per year … none.)
• ‘Roadgeek’ – A person who is passionate about roads, including road maps, road construction, the history of roads, and road travel. (Someone who isn’t a ‘roadgeek’ … the extremely bored and sunburned person holding the Stop/Drive Slowly sign at construction sites.)
• ‘Transwording’ – Blending words from two or more languages to create a new word (ie: ‘Spanglish’).
DREAMS AND WHAT THEY (SUPPOSEDLY) MEAN:
A few common dreams with their interpretations from a panel of ‘experts’ …
• Being Chased – Despite its nightmarish feel, it may be a positive sign that the dreamer is ready to finally face a long unresolved problem.
• Driving an Out-of-Control Vehicle – A sign that a current bad habit may be turning into a long-term problem.
• Dying – Might reveal the wish to terminate something in life … a relationship, a job, a career path, or even the past. It can also signal a new endeavor or fresh start.
• Falling – Common to people who are having a major life problem at work, in a relationship, or elsewhere.
• Flying – By onself, not in a plane. A sign there’s an out-of-control situation in real life and perhaps that the dreamer should let go and allow things to fall naturally into place.
• Meeting a Celebrity – The actual celebrity may be relevant as it may reveal what talents the dreamer values. The dream can also be a symbol of a personal need for recognition.
• Showing Up Late – A sign that the dreamer is overwhelmed and trying to do too much. The lateness serves as a warning to avoid making promises you can’t keep.
• Showing Up to Work Naked – This dream represents vulnerability and anxiety. It’s common to people who are starting a new job or who’ve accepted a promotion.
• Taking a Test – Only perfectionists tend to have recurring stressful test-taking dreams. This dream is often associated with work stress.
• Teeth Falling Out – A sign that something happened in the dreamer’s life that has caused him or her to lose confidence.

BS KEEPING-IT-REAL INTERPRETATIONS OF MOTIVATIONAL SLOGANS:
• “Be the blind squirrel that finds the nut” – But don’t be the blind squirrel that is snuck up on by a wily hunting dog, then thrashed back and forth in its powerful jaws.
• “Smoke ’em if you got ’em” – And before long suffer an excruciatingly painful death from lung disease.
• “It’s not how many times you fall down, it’s how many times you get up that matters” – Unless you are confronted by a bear while hiking, then fall down and stay down.
• “Just do it!” – You can short-cut this slogan and just yell “SWOOSH!” instead.
• “Do everything in moderation including moderation” – Great one when you need an excuse to harm yourself by overindulging in something bad for you.
• “Live every day like it’s your last” – Use this if you feel like spending all day on the phone crying. Also good if you need reasons to spend all your money or assassinate your enemies.
• “Today is the first day of the rest of your life” – Not so motivational if you live in famine stricken, sub-Saharan Africa.
• “Storms make oaks take roots” – Storms also frequently knock them over and trees can’t get up again.
• “Strike while the iron is hot” – Only useful if you’re in a fight using a hot iron as a weapon. In that circumstance though, REALLY great advice.
• “Work hard, play hard” – More importantly, rest hard … then see if you feel like working.
