Ah, the Sweet Smell of BS!
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Stars including Justin Timberlake, Halle Berry, Charlize Theron, Laverne Cox and LL Cool J are buying out entire theaters for screenings of “Emanuel,” a documentary produced by Viola Davis and Stephen Curry about the Dylann Roof shootings. It tells the story of June 17, 2015, when 21-year-old Roof, walked into Bible study at Emanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, SC, and murdered nine African-Americans during their closing prayer. The celebs are purchasing all the seats for nine screenings around the U.S. today and Wednesday, then handing them out to “local organizations and communities,” including churches. Celebs are taking part in the buyouts because they feel it’s an important film, and that as many people as possible should see the flick.

★ Tiffany Haddish is the first celebrity to cancel an appearance in the state of Georgia over their recently adopted, and controversial, new abortion law. Haddish was scheduled to appear at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta on June 22. She released a statement on Saturday saying, “After much deliberation, I am postponing my upcoming show in Atlanta. I love the state of Georgia, but I need to stand with women and until they withdraw Measure HB481, I cannot in good faith perform there.” While many celebrities and production studios have talked about canceling work in the state, Haddish is the first performer to cancel a live show because of the law.

★ Jimmy Kimmel hosted the grand opening of his comedy club at Las Vegas’ Linq Promenade Friday night. In doing so, he told the crowd: “It’s so exciting to be doing this…Our goal is just to get the funniest people possible, new comedians, veteran comedians, and bring them together here.” Invited guests were treated to a surprise lineup at “Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club” that included Sarah Silverman, Chris Tucker, Pete Holmes and Kimmel’s sister Jill. Long-time warm-up guy Don Barris opened the show and Gina Brillon closed it.

★ Daniel Craig is on the mend and expected to return to filming “Bond 25” this week. On Saturday, the official 007 Instagram page posted a picture of Craig working out at a gym. He was wearing an ankle brace as his left leg heals following the accident on set in May which required him to undergo ankle surgery.

★ Jennifer Aniston will forever rue the day she snubbed Christopher Reeve because at the time, she had no idea who he was. Aniston appeared on “The Talk” and explained how she grew up around a number of famous faces because her acting parents hosted celebrity dinner parties at their family home. As she puts it: “My mum would constantly try to get me to go back to bed… and then finally one night she had Christopher Reeve… read me a bedtime story. (I) fell sound asleep – (he) didn’t impress me one lick!” It was only when the “Superman” movie was released that the young Aniston realized she had missed her chance to share a few moments with the movie superhero.

TAKE A “PASTA” ON DA SMALL PIZZA:
It has to be the most commonly-asked question when preparing to order pizza: “Should we get the large?” The people at Groupon wondered the same thing, so they ran the numbers. They looked at data from six major U.S. pizza chains and found that when it comes to value for your buck, a large pizza was found to be a better value by far than a small. They discovered that a 16-inch pizza is actually 2½ times more food than a 10-inch pizza. Pricewise, instead of spending an average of $19.23 on a large, you’d end up spending $32.76 on small pizzas to get the same amount of food. Among their other findings: Two-to-three slices of a 14-inch (medium) pizza costs about $5. But the same serving size from a small costs about $8. Groupon’s advice? “You should “never, ever buy the small pizza.”
(Unless you’re on a diet!)
(On the other hand, if you have leftovers, a small pizza box is easier to fit in your fridge!)
(If you’re getting anchovies…order the small!)

WEED BETTER GET TO THE GYM:
Dope smokers are often thought of as being the “couch potato” type. As a result, marijuana is not often mentioned in the same breath as words like “exercise” and “physical activity.” But now, a study that surveyed marijuana users in U.S. states where it is legal has found that more than 80 percent of participants take the drug shortly before or after exercise. And – surprise! — many of the participants reported that cannabis actually motivated them to work out, helped them to enjoy exercise more and/or improved their recovery. Interestingly, the researchers found that week-smoking exercisers worked out for about 43 minutes more per week on average than non smokers.
(Boosted their motivation? That must be some pretty strong stuff!)
(That explains a lot of those “treadmill fail” videos I’ve seen on YouTube!)
(Maybe they were just motivated to THINK about working out…)

DID YOU KNOW?
Humans have started growing spikes on the backs of their necks as a result of smartphone use, according to David Shahar, a health scientist at the University of The Sunshine Coast, Australia. The phenomenon involves what is known as an “external occipital protuberance”: a growth which appears on the back of the skull, just above the neck. A study found that 41% of 18-to30-year-olds had the lump, with 10 percent having a spike at least 20mm long. Shahar wrote that their findings could be explained by the rise in the use of hand‐held technologies, and said ways to prevent and treat the growths should be considered.
