BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:

★ If Oprah Winfrey is going to interview Chrissy Teigen, Courtney Stodden would be open to joining. When asked about it, Stodden told TMZ: “Oprah has a really big platform and I think that if it helps saves lives by me sharing my story…I would consider it, yeah. If it would help people.” Stodden was only 16 when Teigen targeted them with cyberbullying. Stodden now says: “I think that it’s important to be kind in this world. There’s been so much meanness, and a lot of deflecting.” Earlier this month, Teigen released a lengthy apology, taking responsibility for her past toxic behavior.

★ Following the surprise cancellation of NBC’s “Manifest” and a week-long search for its potential new home, the sci-fi drama is officially “no longer moving forward”. Despite the first 2 seasons receiving a huge response on the streamer, Netflix has decided not to pick up Manifest for a fourth season. This is heartbreaking news to fans who have been invested in the passengers of Montego Air Flight 828, especially considering the third and final season ended with a cliffhanger and tons of unanswered questions.

★ As the face of Marvel Comics for decades, Stan Lee was a fan favorite hero on par with the likes of Spider-Man, Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk. Behind the scenes, though, the ever-boisterous writer — who died in 2018 — had a habit of making dubious business decisions. The latest installment of Reelz’s “Life, Death and Money” series explores Lee’s tumultuous final years, which were marked by disturbing accounts of elder abuse, embezzlement and an estranged relationship with his daughter, J.C. Lee. “Stan Lee: Life, Death and Money premieres Saturday, June 26 at 9 p.m. on Reelz.”

★ One lucky “Fast and Furious” fan is about to live life ‘a quarter-mile at a time’. The custom-orange 1994 Toyota Supra driven by Paul Walker in “The Fast and the Furious” and “2 Fast 2 Furious” sold at auction for a cool $550,000. In the film series, Walker’s character Brian O’Connor rebuilt the car into a racing machine after owing Vin Diesel’s character ‘Dom Toretto’ another car for one he blew up.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• Olivia Rodrigo – is spending her third week at #1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart, thanks to the continued success of her debut album “Sour”. In addition, 10 of Sour’s 11 songs currently appear on the Billboard Hot 100, led by ‘Good 4 U’, which is at #2.
• Billie Eilish — is apologizing after a video posted to TikTok showed old footage of her singing Tyler, the Creator’s song ‘Fish’, which included an Asian slur. She says her behavior makes her “want to barf.” The footage was recorded when she was 13 or 14, and Eilish said: “Regardless of the ignorance and age at the time, nothing excuses the fact that it was hurtful. And for that I am sorry.”
• Metallica – have announced a companion to their upcoming “Black Album” 30th-anniversary box set: “The Metallica Blacklist” is a collection of 53 cover songs by an array of famous artists, including Weezer, My Morning Jacket, Cage the Elephant, St. Vincent, Ghost and a supergroup featuring Miley Cyrus, Elton John, Metallica’s own Robert Trujillo, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, WATT and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. 4-CD and 7-LP editions will both be available Oct. 1, with downloads available Sept. 10.
• Dio — The long-awaited Ronnie James Dio autobiography will be published on July 27th. Co-written with British music journalist Mick Wall and Dio’s widow and longtime manager Wendy Dio, “Rainbow in The Dark: The Autobiography” is now available for pre-order.
• Neil Young and Crazy Horse — have begun work on a follow-up to their 2019 LP “Colorado”. On his website, Young wrote: “Crazy Horse is back in the barn now. Shaking off the rust…It’s been a long time since we have been together, and more than a few tears have been shed.”
• Twisted Sister — Former NFLer Terry Bradshaw knows a few things about competition but Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider pulled off the win when they faced off on “Celebrity Family Feud”, in Sunday’s episode. With the win, Snider and his family were able to donate $25,000 to the National Coalition For Homeless Veterans.
• Kenny Chesney – Monday night, he joined Jimmy Buffet on stage to perform Mac McAnally’s ‘Back Where I Come From’ and Buffett’s classic ‘Margaritaville’. Buffett was playing a private, unannounced show with his Coral Reefer Band at Nashville club Exit/In — the place he first performed in back in the 1970s, on his way to becoming a household name.
• Alan Jackson, Jimmie Allen, Mickey Guyton and Jennifer Nettles — have joined the lineup for PBS’ annual Fourth of July special “A Capitol Fourth”. Jackson will perform from the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Nettles from the famed Town Hall in NYC’s Times Square (with the Broadway Inspirational Voices), and Allen and Guyton will take the stage in Washington, DC. The special will air on PBS.
• Jason Aldean — is the latest country star to announce an extended stay in Las Vegas. He’ll play a 3-night run at Park Theater at Park MGM during his “Back in the Saddle Tour” Dec. 9-11. He will be joined by special guest Lainey Wilson. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.

SHOOTING THE BULL

A ’NEW’ NOVEL CORONAVIRUS?
Are you ready for another pandemic? Researchers at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine aren’t either, but they are starting to prepare. Why? They say a 7-year pattern of pandemics is emerging, dating back to 2004, which means we could see another coronavirus outbreak in 2028. Fortunately, along with that scary thought, they’ve discovered a new target in the fight against COVID-19 and future coronaviruses. Their study revealed a key “pocket” in a protein which helps these viruses to function and infect people. Developing drugs which fit in this “pocket” can keep future coronavirus strains from turning deadly. In a media release, professor of microbiology-immunology Karla Satchell says: “If somebody around you gets the coronavirus, you would run to the drugstore to get your medication and take it for 3 or 4 days. If you were sick, you wouldn’t get as sick.” These drugs could also be effective against the virus that causes the common cold.
(Well, THAT’LL free up some space on the drug store shelves!)
(What the heck were these guys doing in 2014?)
(So the secret in the battle against coronavirus is a “pocket”? I KNEW it was in the jeans!)

GRAVE SITUATION:
The stories of those buried at Woodland Cemetery in Des Moines, IA are being brought back to life. Dozens of historic graves have been marked with QR codes that link to short videos which give details of the lives of some of the city’s earliest residents. 71 videos, each about 30 seconds long, have been put together by Kristen Bartley, who compiled information from local historians, as well as from the descendants of some of those buried at Woodland. The project doesn’t just cover well-known figures, but also others whose lives have remained in the dark for decades – or centuries. Among those whose stories have been brought back to life through the QR code project are those of Preston Jackson, a black man from Kentucky who served in the Mexican-American War and the Civil War, and George Hanawalt, a doctor who treated some of the hundreds injured in “the great train wreck of 1877.”
(The kind of video that people are dying to be a part of?)
(And even though the videos are short, they’ve all good a good plot!)

EVERYDAY THINGS THAT YOU DIDN’T KNOW HAD A NAME:
⇒ Soufflé cups:  Those small cups that hold condiments in restaurants. They also come in other sizes for things like brownies or ice cream (or even soufflé!)
⇒ Ideo locator:  The red, tear-shaped “You are here” mark on maps, often seen in malls, or in online navigation systems. (If I’m in a mall, a “Your wife is here” locator would be a lot handier!)
⇒ Zarf:  The cardboard sleeves on to-go coffee cups. Most people call it a ‘sleeve’ these days. (But if you want to hold up the line at Starbucks just a little longer, ask for a zarf!)
⇒ Punt:  The dent at the bottom of a bottle, such as a wine bottle. Also known as a “kick-up”, it prevents the bottle from tipping, and makes it easier to cleanout and fill. (Makes it easier to empty, too!)
⇒ Griffonage:  Handwriting that is illegible. Griffonage means ‘crude’ or ‘careless’ handwriting. (And doctors call it a “prescription’!)
⇒ Vocables:  Lyrics in songs that have no meaning, such as “na-na”, “la-la”, “how-how”, etc. They aren’t really words, but are there to fill space or contribute to the melody. (See Bieber’s ‘Boyfriend’…)
⇒ Armscye:  Pronounced “arm’s eye”, it is the arm hole in clothing. Or specifically to tailors, a hole in the garment designed to attach a sleeve. (I cannot begin to tell you how many times I’ve NEEDED that word! Wait. Yes I can. Never mind…)
⇒ Purlicue:  The space between your forefingers and thumb. (Oh, I know! The thing my ex uses to make a ‘L’ shape on her forehead whenever she sees me!)

FUNNIEST TWEETS OF THE WEEK FROM WOMEN:
⇒ The key to looking amazing is looking like (crap) most of the time so it’s more of a surprise – Emma Ketchum
⇒ So unfair that noon is the only time that gets a nickname. Gonna start calling 4pm Bonky – music’s profile
⇒ Just cos Bennifer are thriving doesn’t mean you should call your ex! Or does it? Idk…maybe just a text to test the waters? No, a SEXT! — Camilla Blackett
⇒ Do you ever think the computer asks if you’re a robot because its’ looking for a friend? – Rachy Rach
⇒ one time i went to a bar alone and felt embarrassed so i told everyone around me i got stood up and they bought me drinks – margot
⇒ teenage girls should all get really into politics so that men don’t like it anymore – Dana Graham

DID YOU KNOW?
Acids in the bird poop can etch your car’s clear coat, and depending on how you remove the stain, it can discolor the paint. Birds have high fiber diets, which means their doo is full of gritty abrasives like seed husks or even sand, so if you try to vigorously scrub it away, you can damage the paint. Instead of scrubbing, cover it with a sponge soaked in hot soapy water for several minutes, then wipe with the same sponge using light strokes.  Bird poop that’s been baked on in the summer sun may need a longer soaking.
