BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Amber Heard “still loves” Johnny Depp. Despite their recent bitter defamation trial, and the fact that she has accused him of abuse, she insisted she harbors “no bad feelings or ill will” toward the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star. Asked by “Today” host Savannah Guthrie if she stood by a statement released at the beginning of the trial, in which she said she “still has love” for Johnny, Amber replied: “Absolutely. I love him. I loved him with all my heart, and I tried the best I could to make a deeply broken relationship work and I couldn’t. I have no bad feelings or ill will towards him at all.” Elsewhere during the clip, which aired yesterday, the actress claimed she is “scared” about what she says now and worries she’ll again be sued by her former spouse. Clips from the interview have been broadcast on Today this week, with the full conversation airing on a “Dateline” special tonight.

★ The dystopian drama “Squid Game” was such an enormous hit, it’s no surprise that Netflix is turning the deadly game within the show into an actual reality show competition — minus the killings, of course. Netflix has announced that it is launching “Squid Game: The Challenge,” in which 456 real players will compete for a chance to win $4.56 million. According to the streamer, players will take part in a series of games inspired by the show – plus surprising new additions – “while their strategies, alliances and character will be put to the test while competitors are eliminated around them.” You can sign up now at www.SquidGameCasting.com .

★ Britney Spears’ attorney Mathew Rosengart has spoken out after her former husband Jason Alexander was charged with a felony count of stalking. Rosengart said he’s pleased” by how the sheriff´s office responded to Alexander´s “infiltration” (his word). Alexander pleaded not guilty in Ventura County court to the charge, along with misdemeanor counts of trespassing, vandalism and battery. The 3 misdemeanor charges stemmed from Alexander’s attempt to get into the wedding last week, which he livestreamed on Instagram. The stalking charge involves repeated incidents over time, according to Spears’ attorney. Alexander’s bail was set at $100,000.

★ The “Stranger Things 4” buzz doesn’t appear as though it’ll be dying down any time soon. The 4th season has now become Netflix’s most-watched English language series ever, with 781 million hours viewed. In its third week since release, Stranger Things 4 Volume 1 raked in another 159.24 million hours, once again making it Netflix’s top-viewed series of the week. In fact, the entire Stranger Things library filled the top 4 spots on the Netflix Top 10 list for the week ending June 12. Second on the list was “Stranger Things 2” with 52.42 million hours viewed. The O.G. season of “Stranger Things” was third with 50.3 million hours viewed. Season 3 came in fourth with 47.6 million hours.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• BTS — Days after dropping the career retrospective compilation “Proof”, they shocked the ARMY nation Tuesday with the news that they are going on an indefinite “hiatus” to focus on solo ventures. The massively popular group made the announcement in a video during their “Festa dinner,” celebrating the band’s 9th anniversary. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2axpa38w
• Lizzo – Following complaints, she has edited the lyrics of her new song ‘GRRRLS.’ She posted: “I never want to promote derogatory language…I’ve had many hateful words used against me so I understand the power words can have…” The song contained the word “spaz,” which drew complaints that it is a slur against those who are disabled.
• Lady Gaga — is in early talks to play ‘Harley Quinn’ opposite Joaquin Phoenix in the sequel to “Joker,” titled “Joker: Folie a Deux”. The sequel is reportedly going to be a musical, and, as it is with the multiverse, Gaga’s Quinn character would be totally separate from Margot Robbie’s, which was most recently featured in “The Suicide Squad.”
• Mötley Crüe — “Vince Neil: My Story”, a 2-hour documentary, will premiere June 26 on Reelz. In his own words, Neil gives viewers insight into his wild ride to fame and his many bumps in the road. The band’s “Stadium Tour” with Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett begins tonight in Atlanta.
• Metallica — have partnered with music education company Yousician to create a new course taught by James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett. AI technology gives players real time feedback as they learn to play alongside the group virtually. Metallica x Yousician also gives fans a chance to go behind-the-scenes and listen first-hand to stories about the group’s musical journey.
• Queen + Adam Lambert — At every show on their current “Rhapsody Tour”, guitarist Brian May has been performing a duet with an optical illusion of late frontman Freddie Mercury. But during a recent performance at London’s O2 Arena, May was overcome with emotion, and was seen wiping away a tear. Naturally, the moment was posted online: https://tinyurl.com/5n7rkma4
• Mickey Guyton – has been named host for this year’s annual celebration “A Capitol Fourth”. The holiday special airs on PBS stations on the 4th of July. More details and a list of performers will be announced soon.
• Jessie James Decker – said during an interactive conversation at CMA Fest that one thing on her bucket list is to film a CMT Crossroads with an unlikely collaborator – Nickelback. Quote: “I love Nickelback…I’m telling you. We have to do it.”
• Alan Jackson – Fans were disappointed that he was not able to perform at the 2022 CMA Fest, but the Nashville music festival found a special way to honor the Country Music Hall of Famer. Old Dominion, the band tapped as Jackson’s replacement, took the stage on the final night, and as part of their set, performed a cover of Jackson’s 1992 hit ‘Chattahoochee’.

CAT SCRATCH BEHAVIOR:
If you REALLY love your cat, you might as well start saving for a new couch now. A team of veterinary psychologists says that coddled cats are more likely to tear up furniture. Researchers at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil say they determined that tolerance for this type of “unacceptable behavior” could be a sign of a strong human-feline bond. According to their report, published in the Journal of Veterinary Behavior, “Evidence supports that cats’ behavior influences the level of emotional closeness between the animals and the owners,” and “owners of cats that do not scratch the furniture had a lower level of emotional closeness compared to those reporting this inappropriate behavior.” Researchers believe the “surprising” correlation indicates that clawing at couches is considered an “expected and tolerable” cat habit by those who love them most.
(…and it’s also tolerated by the husbands of those who love them most!)
(Why WOULDN’T they scratch the furniture? They own it – just ask ‘em!)

TECH TALK:
⇒ It’s the end of Internet Explorer. As of yesterday, Microsoft has shut down the browser. The move comes 27 years after its 1995 debut. Now, most people who try to open the app will be directed to the company’s newer browser, Microsoft Edge. In a blog post from May 2021, Microsoft explained it was moving away from Internet Explorer, and beginning with the June 15 retirement date, the platform would “go out of support” for certain versions of Windows 10. (Explorer’s so slow, it won’t know it’s been replaced for another 3 years!)
⇒ Google has suspended an engineer who claims that the company’s artificial intelligence software has gained consciousness. Blake Lemoine says that while messaging a chatbot contained in a software called Language Model for Dialogue Applications, he determined that it had become sentient. He told the Washington Post: “If I didn’t know exactly what it was, which is this computer program we built recently, I’d think it was a 7-year-old, 8-year-old kid that happens to know physics.” Lemoine says he spoke with the robot about death, and philosophical questions, and at one point, it even said the words: “I am aware of my existence.” When he took his claims to higher-ups at Google, he was dismissed and put on administrative leave. (I used to worry that my job could be replaced by A.I., but then I realized it’s smart enough not to work for next to nothing!)

IN GOOD HANS:
The long running territorial dispute has finally come to an end. No, we’re not talking about Russia/Ukraine…or even about China/Taiwan. We’re speaking of Hans Island, a barren arctic rock midway between Greenland and Canada’s Nunavut. Canada and Denmark have been feuding over the 1.3 square km Hans Island, which has no known strategic value or resources, for nearly 50 years. Now, under the terms of a new agreement, one side will be Canadian, and the other under the control of the Kingdom of Denmark. In a decades-long show of passive aggressive military force, whenever the Canadian or Danish militaries were in the area, they would make a point of stopping at Hans Island, tearing down the rival nations’ flag and hoisting their own. In what’s been called the “Friendliest War”, the Canadians would leave behind a bottle of whiskey, while the Danes would leave behind a bottle of Scandinavian Schnapps. The 2 countries celebrated the signing of the agreement on Tuesday with one last bottle exchange.
(It doesn’t sound like much, but things really pick up there in the summertime!)
(But it should be mentioned that both sides admit the war wouldn’t have been so “friendly” if there was any oil there!)

DINING DEALBREAKERS:
According to a poll, having a poor diet is a major dealbreaker in a relationship. While the OnePoll survey of 2,000 Americans found that almost half of us admit that eating too much junk food is one of our own worst habits, that didn’t stop it from being something that we judge a potential mate on. Here are the Top 5 “Dining Dealbreakers”:
• Eating too fast – 38%
• Being a picky eater – 35%
• Mindless snacking – 35%
• Regularly consuming junk food – 35%
• Taking food from my plate – 35%
…and here are the “Top 5 “Guilty Pleasure” foods:
• Pizza – 36%
• Ice cream – 35%
• Burgers – 33%
• Chips – 32%
• Fried chicken – 32%
(Add triple-stuffed Oreos and blood pressure meds, and this looks just like my grocery list!)

DID YOU KNOW?
Chicken tikka masala or fried nuggets would have our ancestors turning in their graves, according to new research. A team from the University of Exeter has discovered that Iron Age Europeans actually revered the humble bird, almost as a deity — rather than a delicacy. Their also found that men were buried with cockerels when they died, while women were laid to rest with hens. The findings are based on chicken remains from over 89 countries. Bones, locations, and historical records provided new insights into now local societies and cultures regarded the chicken.
