BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:

★ Netflix has confirmed Lada Gaga’s cameo appearance in the second season of “Wednesday”, and dropped the first 6 minutes of the premiere. At the streamer’s annual Tudum event, Gaga performed an original song that will be featured on this season’s soundtrack. Part 1 of the hit series, led by Jenna Ortega, will air on August 6. News of Gaga’s part, which she shot in Ireland in one day, was leaked in November. LINK: https://tinyurl.com/yt4x86s5

★ Diddy’s prison outfit is going up for auction . . . no, not one he’s worn since being locked up last fall, but the one he wore on set 25 years ago! The rapper’s iconic costume from his role as ‘Lawrence Musgrove’ in the 2001 romantic-thriller drama “Monster’s Ball” is going up for sale. It features a gray hoodie, jeans — with one pant leg cut off — and black shoes. Diddy wore the outfit in the early parts of the film before his character was executed. It goes up for sale by GWS Auctions on June 7.

★ As expected, Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch” easily held on to the #1 spot at the domestic box office, earning an estimated $61.5 million in its second weekend. That puts the latest Disney remake at a 2-weekend total of $278 million, enough to exceed the inflation-adjusted total of the original “Lilo & Stitch” in 2002 after just 10 days. The new release “Karate Kid: Legends,” made a projected $22 million, putting it 3rd, behind the $27 million second weekend of “Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning.”

★ Renée Victor, best known for her voice role as ‘Abuelita’ in the beloved animated film “Coco”, and as ‘Lupita’ on Showtime’s Weeds, died of lymphoma at her Sherman Oaks CA home on Saturday. She first made appearances in 1980s series like “Scarecrow and Mrs. King” and “Matlock”, before appearing in the films “The Doctor” alongside William Hurt, and as “A Night in Old Mexico”. Renée Victor was 86.

★ Roseanne Barr has made explosive claims about her former employer, ABC, with which she worked for over 10 years. She was abruptly fired for her tweet about former Barack Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett, and in a new interview, she said: “They were waiting for me to slip up.” She claimed the network’s left-leaning executives were already on high alert about her outspoken support for Donald Trump. Quote: “They spied. They monitored everything I did.” She also accused her ABC bosses of hijacking her words about Jarrett.

BS MUSIC NOTES:

• Taylor Swift – Her cat Meredith made a rare appearance in a video she made with Jack Antonoff to celebrate regaining control of her music. In the clip, Swift and her collaborator recreate the viral moment at the end of the bridge of ‘Getaway Car’, but in the new version, they did a role reversal, with Antonoff yelling in celebration. • Rihanna – Her father has died in Los Angeles after battling an illness. Rihanna and Ronald had a rocky relationship, and were estranged for a long period of time before eventually reconciling. In Feb. 2023, Ronald told TMZ he was over the moon about his daughter and A$AP Rocky expecting another child together, and was eager to be a part of the baby’s life. He was 70.
• LISA – A new documentary promises a “glimpse into her world that no one’s ever seen before”. The BLACKPINK star and “White Lotus” actress has joined forces with Sony Music Vision on the untitled film.
• Robin Thicke – He and April Love Geary finally said “I do”. Leo DiCaprio, Usher, and Ken Jeong were among those there for the celebration in Cabo. The pair got engaged in 2018, and he proposed again last month at Cannes.
• Mariah Carey — will celebrate the new 20th anniversary edition of her album “The Emancipation of Mimi” with a Spotify Listening Party on June 2. She’ll talk about the making of the album and answer questions from fans. LINK: MariahCarey.lnk.to/ListeningParty .
• ZZ Top — Co-founding drummer Frank Beard has returned to the band after being absent for 2 months. He’s back in time to play on the North American dates of their current “Elevation tour”. The band’s management revealed that “the foot and ankle issues that he had been dealing with have been resolved.”
• Van Halen – Sammy Hagar was recently asked if he has any regrets about his time as the group’s frontman. His answer: “No regrets whatsoever. I regret that we broke up, just to see what else we could have done…I think the best stuff was yet to come; it could have been yet to come.”.
• Kane Brown — will make his feature film debut in “The Token Groomsman”, starring opposite Taylor Lautner.  Brown will play ‘Neil’, the best friend of Lautner’s character, who travels to Italy for a destination wedding — but ends up falling for the groom’s sister. Shooting starts later this year.
• Miranda Lambert – The Texas native is officially the “Texas State Musician, Non-Classical” for 2025. The designation “honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional excellence in their artistic disciplines.” It is the state’s highest recognition for artistic achievement and is appointed by The Texas Commission on the Arts and the Texas State Legislature, following nominations from the public.
• Jason Aldean – revealed in an interview 2 very cool end-of-tour gifts he received. Quote: “Chesney gave me a Can-Am Spyder. That one was the coolest.” And, he said, Tim McGraw gave him “a nice watch and some cash,” which he said was “really cool at the time, because I really could use the cash more than I could anything back then”.

SHOOTING THE BULL

THE FAT STRIKES BACK:
Scientists say they think they may have discovered why it’s so easy to pack to the pounds back on after losing weight – your cells remember being fat. Well, not YOURS specifically, but fat cells in general.  According to a recent study by a team of Swiss researchers, fat cells indeed have a “memory” of being obese, affecting “metabolic pathways” in the body long after pounds are shed. This means that after someone loses weight, their fat cells don’t fully go back to “normal”, which can make it easier to regain weight and stay in a state that promotes inflammation and metabolic issues. To counter this, one expert suggested: “Keep moving, eating real food and building muscle.”
(Yeah, but…ice cream!)
(Turns out, my love handles have a memory foam setting!)

AISLE BE FINED:
And you thought Southwest Airlines was overstepping with its announcement that it is now charging for checked baggage, marking the end of its “two bags fly free” policy. Now, airline passengers headed for Turkey will be fined . . . if they stand up before the seatbelt sign turns off after landing. The Turkish civil aviation authority decided to make the move after receiving complaints from passengers. Turkish media said fines are around US$70, although the authority hasn’t officially mentioned the amount. Apparently, the new fine came about after a “serious increase” in complaints about passengers grabbing overhead baggage before their plane had been parked.
(“Attention passengers: premature standing will now cost you more than your in-flight snack. Plus, you’ll be judged silently…”)
***Caution*** (Wow – if only I could save money by sitting on my ass the rest of the time!)

MEALS ON HEELS:
Millennial moms (those between 27-43) are seriously pressed for time. A new survey found that nearly a third of them get less than 30 minutes to themselves each day – and often, they forget what day it is. Life’s a constant juggling act for these moms, and some things — like eating — tend to get pushed aside. The Talker Research poll found that half of moms can’t remember the last time they didn’t feel rushed through a meal. Instead, they said, they’re squeezing in bites while driving, doing chores, cooking, or wrangling their kids. Many eat on the go or while standing – some of them every day. Snacks are their survival fuel, stashed in purses, glove compartments, diaper bags, and even bedside tables for those late-night cravings. It’s not ideal, but that’s real life for a lot of moms. When asked about some of the more unusual places they’ve snacked, survey respondents shared that they’ve enjoyed a snack in “the shower,” “on the treadmill” and while in church.
(Thirty minutes alone? That’s a spa day, in mom years!)
(Mom eats in the car between errands. Dad eats in the car because he just left the gas station with beef jerky and a root beer…!)

THINGS YOU SHOULDN’T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT SPLURGING ON:
According to happiness researcher Jessica Weiss, these purchases trigger a lasting and sustainable kind of happiness . . .
☞ Live music: Studies show group singing reduces oxytocin and cortisol levels and creates a sense of belonging that can last for days after the final encore. (If I’m able to feel like Beyoncé for 3 minutes – totally worth it!)
☞ Novel experiences: Even small things, like visiting a new farmer’s market, a new hairdo, or painting your nails an unexpected color, can make life feel richer and more textured.
☞ Time-saving purchases: Buying time is like buying sanity. That meal delivery service or house cleaner isn’t a luxury; it’s a mental health investment. (Hey – anything to get me out of cleaning windows!)
☞ Activities that boost your relationships: A dinner with friends or plane ticket to visit your sister? It’s not just a purchase — it’s a deposit into your emotional retirement account, because close relationships have been shown to predict happiness even better than wealth. (Especially if your friends are rich!)
☞ Being generous to others: Scientists call it the “helper’s high”. It’s that warm rush you get when you cover a friend’s lunch or donate to a good cause. That’s because your reward circuits fire more intensely then, than they do when you spend on yourself.
☞ Small joys: It’s true: That $4 specialty coffee twice weekly delivers more cumulative joy than one $400 splurge. (My $4 lavender latte knows more about emotional support than my therapist!)
☞ Counterintuitive challenges: “Earned pleasures” like plunging into cold water, completing a tough hike, or mastering a difficult skill, create lasting satisfaction. (Unless you’re like me – and always fall and hurt yourself!)
☞ Making plans in advance: Booking a vacation or a reunion creates a happiness triple play: anticipation joy, experience joy and memory joy. They begin delivering happiness the moment you book it, long before you pack your bags. (…and if you’re anything like me, it’ll also create fond memories for months afterward, as you pay it off…!)

DID YOU KNOW?
Scientists at have created dental floss that can tell if you’re stressed out. Tufts University researchers embedded floss with sensors that can detect cortisol — your body’s primary stress hormone — directly from your saliva during flossing, with laboratory-grade accuracy. Doctors typically measure stress through questionnaires or psych evaluations, but people sometimes inaccurately report their stress levels, or the testing process might increase their anxiety, a phenomenon known as the “white coat effect.” While not yet ready for consumer use, the new technology could one day make stress monitoring as routine as daily flossing. (Wasn’t my stress level already obvious by the bulging vein on my forehead?)

BS CHRONOMETER 06.02.25

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Thank God It’s Monday Day”, celebrated on the first Mondays of January and June. It’s all about seeing Monday as a positive day, rather than a negative one. While Mondays can be a struggle for many, use this occasion to try and see this day from a different perspective. (After all, it’s a shame to dread the day of the week that lasts the longest!)
• “Rocky Road Day”, saluting the ice cream flavor that’s made with chocolate ice cream, nuts and marshmallows. (As immortalized by ‘Weird’ Al Yankovic in his Joan Jett parody, ‘I Love Rocky Road’).
• “Leave the Office Early Day”, an incentive to many who often work more than 40 hours each week. (And, of course, today will be the one day that the boss doesn’t!)
• “Bubba Day”, honoring those formally named — or just called ‘Bubba’. (We’re betting most of ’em live in ‘Dixie’.) “Bubba” is a term of endearment formed from the word “brother”, and is sometimes used to indicate that someone is like a “little brother”. A search for famous “Bubbas” reveals that most are nicknamed, rather than named Bubba at birth, including President Bill ‘Bubba’ Clinton, Charles ‘Bubba’ Smith (“Police Academy”) and golfer Gerry ‘Bubba’ Watson Jr.
• “Yell Fudge at the Cobras in North America Day”. To keep the poisonous snakes off the continent, you’re supposed to go outdoors at noon and yell ‘fudge!’ Seems to be working.
• “Rotisserie Chicken Day”. This delicious style of chicken is cooked whole on a rotisserie or spit that turns continuously over a heat source, roasting it slowly. This sears the skin to seal in the flavor, resulting in a tender and juicy chicken. (And resulting in the dog laying around in the kitchen all day, drooling).
• “I Love My Dentist Day”, a big salute today to the people who CAN handle the tooth!
