BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:

★ Kathy Griffin is finding light in a dark situation. She appeared on a podcast, where she opened up — and cracked jokes — about her addiction to pills and past suicide attempts. The conversation began when Griffin reflected on the controversy that followed after she posed with a fake bloody head meant to represent then-President Donald Trump in 2017, which put her in a dark place. Griffin admitted that, following the uproar, she “tried to kill” herself. She then said: “But you have to admit, it’s almost, like, comical…I went in the hospital for pill addiction at 59 years old. Who the hell becomes a junkie in, like, their late 50s? Me.”

★ Remember Doggface? He’s the guy who went viral skateboarding to the Fleetwood Mac classic ‘Dreams’ in 2020. What’s he up to now? Well, Doggface, also known as Nathan Apodaca, is officially rolling with the big dogs. He has made his rapping debut alongside Snoop Dogg. The song — titled ‘Low Rider’ — is Klypso’s, and it features Snoop Dogg and Doggface, in a spinoff of the original by War. The star-studded video features George Lopez, Cheech and Chong, Princess Love and Dr. Miami. There’s a teaser clip out now, and the full video will debut on — you guessed it — 4/20. ★ Someone just spent an exorbitant amount of money on a home that once belonged to Bing Crosby, where he hosted parties that often included stars like Marilyn Monroe and JFK. Crosby’s former home near Palm Springs sold for just over $4 million last month. Many other celebs were known to hang out there during Crosby’s time, when his neighbors included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Lucille Ball, Bob Hope, and Gerald and Betty Ford. Crosby’s old house features the best the community of Rancho Mirage has to offer, including expansive views of the surrounding desert and mountains as well as extravagant amenities.

★ Dolly Parton has long teased a biopic for the big screen, along the lines of other music legends like Elton John, Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline. And now, Parton revealed who she would want to play her former musical partner Porter Wagoner. She feels there is only one actor who could play Wagoner: Jim Carrey. As for who will play HER on the big screen, Parton said: “I love Kristin Chenoweth. She’s just absolutely fantastic.”

Williams stands to make a tidy $32 million profit on the deal.
• Beck – revealed during his keynote speech at SXSW that he has been re-recording some of his early hits, including ‘Loser’ and ‘Where It’s At’ for an unspecified project. SHOOTING THE BULL

WORK JERKS:
The relationships you have with co-workers are some of the most important – and complicated ones you’ll ever experience. And of course, a bad relationship with a colleague can make you dread going to the office. So, listen up, and don’t be one of THESE: Quality Logo Products in the US surveyed almost 2,000 employees to determine the most annoying habits of co-workers. The top-3, in order, are: Interrupting, Taking credit for someone else’s work, and Oversharing. Some other findings of the survey: 90% of people have a co-worker who annoys them, and 57% have quit, or considered quitting because of an irritating co-worker. 55% of those who work from home still become annoyed with a co-worker several times a week. For remote workers, the top pet peeves include slow responses to emails or instant messages, excessive background noise on calls, and eating on camera.
(Wow! For every one of those, a different co-worker’s face immediately came to mind!)
(And guess what? If you don’t have an irritating co-worker, it’s YOU!)

IS IT HOT UNDER HERE – OR IS IT JUST ME?
As the world continues to stress about whether or not we should be wearing a mask, the results of a recent study just might convince many of us to keep strapping them on. Wearing a mask makes you more attractive, according to a study at Cardiff University’s School of Psychology in the UK. Typical blue medical masks were associated with being the most attractive, and cloth masks came in a close second, still making faces appear “significantly more attractive”. In the study, female participants viewed 4 photos of a man with a medical mask, a cloth mask, a book covering half his face and no covering. Medical masks came out on top, with cloth coming in close second and no covering ranking last. The researchers say the results suggest that covering the bottom half of your face in any way, whether you are “hot or not”, increases your attractiveness (that means the results aren’t necessarily about hiding unattractive qualities). It could be that covering the bottom half of your face brings a certain allure and sense of mystery. Masks also force attention on the eyes and hair — 2 of our most engaging facial features, the study noted.
(I have to agree. Wearing a mask always makes me FEEL hot – literally!)
(I know wearing a mask makes ME more attractive – by covering up my breath alone!)

GLOBAL WARBING:
Pass me another tissue. A new study says that the season of sniffling and sneezing could last longer for allergy sufferers, thanks to climate change. Scientists from the University of Michigan examined climate and pollen data, and found that pollen emissions later this century will likely start 10-40 days earlier in spring and end up to 19 days later in fall. The study authors, who say allergy season has already lengthened by about 28 days over the past few decades, found that pollen emissions, which are driven by higher temperatures, have increased by 46%. They say about one-third of us suffer from pollen-induced respiratory issues, and call it “a worldwide health concern resulting in economic loss because of medical expenditures, missed work, and school days, and early death.”
(Did you know allergies are your immune system’s way of treating a harmless substance as a big threat? So, as you can see, it’s in my DNA to be overly dramatic!)
(***Caution*** The pollen is so bad this year that the trailer park people are changing crystal meth back into Sudafed!)

ODDEST TEAM NAMES IN THE 2022 NCAA BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT:
⇒ Vermont Catamounts:  Because there are enough teams named ‘Wildcats’ and ‘Cougars’, Vermont went with ‘Catamounts’, which means “Cats of the Mountains”.
⇒ St. Mary’s & Notre Dame: Yes, March Madness happens near St. Patrick’s Day, so why not the Gaels and the Fighting Irish?
⇒ Syracuse Orange: Making it even odder, New York is not particularly known for its citrus trees.
⇒ St. Bonaventure Bonnies:  The name means ‘attractive’ or ‘good’, but the mascot is a wolf. (An attractive one?)
⇒ New Mexico Lobos:  They also use a wolf as mascot. As they should – ‘Lobo’ is Spanish for wolf.
⇒ UNLV Runnin’ Rebels:  They couldn’t just be “rebels”? They had to be “Runnin’ Rebels”?
⇒ Purdue Boilermakers:  A ‘boilermaker’ is an industrial worker who makes large metal boilers. Also, whiskey with a beer chaser. We’ll let you decide.
⇒ South Dakota State Jackrabbits:  Few animals are as agile, graceful and fast. But let’s face it, they’re usually prey.
⇒ Saint Louis Billikens:  A Billiken is a good luck charm similar to those furry troll guys you’ve seen at the dentist who never grew out of his 1980s post-doctoral days.
⇒ Wichita State Shockers:  This novel name comes from the name given to one who harvests wheat or corn.
[Some other gems from past & present: Maryland Terrapins (a turtle), Colorado Buffaloes (not a typo, but it looks like one!), North Texas Mean Green (after NFL’er/alumnus ‘Mean’ Joe Greene, Utah State Aggies (someone from a farm), UC Santa Barbara Gauchos (a skilled, but unruly horseman), Virginia Tech Hokies (a wild turkey), and of course, the TCU Horned Frogs!]

DID YOU KNOW?
Spring Fever is a real physical condition which commonly occurs when a sudden warm spell follows a long cold period. When the temperature rises, the body needs to get rid of heat; thus, there’s a dilation or expansion of the blood vessels so that blood can be carried to the body surface where heat can be lost quickly. Some people experience an energetic feeling when this change happens, due to the body’s reaction to the great amount of internal work going on.
