There’s No BS Like Show BS …
BS SHOW BIZ BUZZ:
★ Gisele Bündchen insists Tom Brady’s NFL career wasn’t the only factor in their “not so black and white” divorce. The supermodel told Vanity Fair in a new cover story that the former couple’s 2022 split was “much bigger” than just football. When asked whether she gave Brady an ultimatum — their marriage or his job — Bündchen called that notion “very hurtful” and “the craziest thing [she’s] ever heard.” She said that she has “always cheered” for her now-ex-husband, but “as time goes by, we realize that we just wanted different things.”

★ Amanda Bynes was likely living “on the streets for days” before she called police on herself after suffering a mental break. Sources close to the former “Easy A” star told TMZ that her car had been towed in Long Beach CA on March 15. That’s about 40 miles from her home and 15 miles from where she was found in downtown LA early Sunday. The outlet’s sources believe Bynes may have hitchhiked or taken public transportation to get around and eventually made her way to Hollywood, where she was spotted in a fan’s TikTok video days before being placed on a psychiatric hold. It is expected that hold will be extended.

★ Cameron Diaz is no longer “back in action.” She’ll reportedly retire from acting for good after she wraps the Netflix film “Back in Action” with Jamie Foxx, so she can focus on being a mom to her 3-year-old daughter, Raddix. The Daily Mail quoted a source “close to Diaz” as saying: “These back-to-back 10-hour workdays have been a lot on her and she hates being away from Raddix.” While Diaz’s husband, Benji Madden, is supportive of her acting career, her time on set has apparently “been a lot on him.” As well.

★ Nick Lachey has been ordered to attend anger management classes and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings after accosting a paparazzo. The 98 Degrees singer was charged with assault and battery against Jody Santos in March 2022 but did not receive formal punishment until the photographer hassled the Beverly Hills Police Department for months. Santos now says the “Newlyweds: Nick And Jessica” reality star “has to complete [anger management and AA] within a reasonable time…If he fails to do so, they will move forward to prosecute him.”

★ Jon Bernthal is returning to his most punishing role. He’ll reprise ‘Frank Castle’, aka antihero ‘The Punisher’, in Marvel Studios’ “Daredevil: Born Again” for Disney+. Bernthal joins Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio in the series, which begins shooting in New York this month. In a departure from other Marvel series, which come in at 6 or 9 episodes per season, Born Again is planned as an 18-episode epic.

★ “History of the World, Part II” has become Hulu’s most-watched scripted original of 2023 in its first week of launch. The sequel TV series to Mel Brooks’ 1981 film also earned the most social media engagements of any Hulu Original on its premiere day. The 8-episode comedy, released March 6, stars Brooks, Wanda Sykes, Nick Kroll, and Ike Barinholtz, with a rotating door of guest stars.

BS MUSIC NOTES:
• The Weeknd — has set 2 new Guinness World Records, and is now statistically the most popular musician on earth. He now has the most monthly listeners on Spotify, and is the first artist to reach 100 million monthly listeners. While second-place Miley Cyrus has 82.4 million, The Weeknd has a whopping 111.4 million monthly listeners—at least 30 million more.
• Bad Bunny – His ex-girlfriend is suing him for $40 million. Carliz De La Cruz Hernández filed a suit in a Puerto Rico, claiming that a recording of her saying “Bad Bunny, baby,” was used in at least 2 songs and in promotional material, without permission.
• Taylor Swift – is top of mind for everyone these days – even ‘Elmo’. The “Sesame Street” fan fav has modeled for his own adorable version of Taylor Swift’s poster for “The Eras Tour”. He captioned a pose featuring the snapshot with the words: “Elmo is in Elmo’s Red era! #TheElmosTour.” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/2s2eya8a
• Red Hot Chili Peppers – are among the headliners for this year’s Lollapalooza. Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, Odesza, Lana Del Rey, Karol G, the 1975, and Tomorrow X Together also get top billing for the event, set for Aug. 3-6 at Chicago’s Grant Park. Also among the 170 bands playing 9 stages are: Carly Rae Jepsen, Diplo, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Lil Yachty and Sabrina Carpenter.
• Jane’s Addiction — Perry Farrell said “it’s been one of the most exciting times of my life” working on new music with the group. Why? “Because these songs are that good…When a musician knows, when he’s hearing something that he says…’I can’t wait for people to hear this.’ That’s what I’ve been experiencing.”
• Journey – guitarist Neal Schon has announced the release of the long-awaited “Journey Through Time”, a concert recorded in 2018 in San Francisco. That’s the show where Schon and former Journey and Santana bandmate Gregg Rolie led an all-star band to raise money for victims of Bay Area fires of 2017. The live album and DVD will drop May 19.
• Megan Moroney and Jackson Dean – are among those who will perform on the Ram Trucks Side Stage at the 2023 CMT Music Awards on April 2. Avery Anna, Chapel Hart, Lily Rose, and Nate Smith will also appear, joining already-announced singers Lainey Wilson, co-hosts Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown (with his wife Katelyn), Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Carly Pearce, Cody Johnson, and Keith Urban.
• Luke Combs – His new “Gettin’ Old” album, out tomorrow, isn’t the only delivery he’s expecting. He announced this week that his wife Nicole is pregnant with their second child, following son Tex, who was born in June. He captioned a slide show: “Joining the 2 under 2 club! Baby boy #2 coming this September!!” LINK: https://tinyurl.com/7t5cuw9v
• Morgan Wallen – His “One Thing at a Time” is spending its second week atop the Billboard 200 albums chart, earning 259,000 equivalent album units in the US last week. That’s the largest second-week for an album since Taylor Swift’s “Midnights” collected 342,000 units in the week ending Nov. 3, 2022.
SHOOTING THE BULL
SCIENTISTS SAY:
❑ Three cups of coffee a day could curb obesity and prevent diabetes. Scientists in Sweden say that calorie-free caffeinated drinks should be a major target of investigation when it comes to tackling weight gain and the onset of Type 2 diabetes. Their study shows the greatest benefit appears among those with a genetic predisposition to metabolize caffeine much slower than others, leaving more of the substance in their blood. Previous research has shown that the stimulant boosts metabolism, increases fat burning, and reduces appetite. (Wow — Can you just imagine the look of me if it weren’t for coffee?)
❑ If you’re trying to lose weight, eat peanuts. A study has found that eating lightly salted peanuts twice a day between meals leads to weight loss, lower blood pressure, and healthier fasting glucose levels. The researchers from Texas Tech University and the University of South Australia said in a release: “Peanuts are often avoided when people are trying to lose weight because they believe peanuts contains too many calories. However, peanuts actually have a high satiety value, meaning they keep you feeling fuller longer and that can be really helpful for those on a weight loss diet.” (That’s why “peanut-coffee” never caught on – everyone who tried it – just up and disappeared!)

DODGE SHIFTER:
What is being called the last-ever gas-powered muscle car from Dodge will definitely be going out with a bang – or more likely, with some squeals, and more than a few speeding tickets. The 2023 Challenger SRT Demon 170 will deliver 1,025 horsepower from its 6.2-liter supercharged V-8, and the automaker says it will be the quickest production car made. Automaker Stellantis (formed in 2021 by combining Fiat Chrysler and France’s PSA Peugeot) says it can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in an arm-hair raising 1.66 seconds, making it faster than even electric supercars from Tesla and Lucid. Stellantis will stop making gas versions of the Dodge Challenger and Charger — and the big Chrysler 300 sedan — by the end of this year, due to new fuel-economy regulations and the shift to electric vehicles.
(Yeah, I notice they failed to mention what kind of gas mileage a car with 1,025 horsepower gets!)
(PLEASE tell me they’re going to call the new version a “Dodge Chargeable”!! Or a “Hemi-conductor”?)

MUCH ADO ABOUT TATTOO:
Would you consider getting a tattoo of your pet? Half of us would, according to a survey. A study of 2,000 cat and dog owners (in the US) found that 25% would consider getting a tattoo of their current pet — while 25% are already planning to get one. What’s more, another 16% of those polled ALREADY have a pet-themed tattoo on their body. But ink’s not the only way to immortalize a furry friend. The survey also found that 42% of pet owners own at least one item depicting an animal that resembles their pet, and 44% own something with an actual picture of their pet printed on it – most often an article of clothing (21%). Other fun findings about our furry friends:
• 36% of pet owners have a dedicated social media account for their pet.
• 60% of pet owners said they believe their cat or dog has what it takes to become a viral sensation.
• 68% of pet parents believe that they’re more obsessed with theirs, compared to other pet lovers.
• 55% have conversations with their pet when no one else is around, and . . .
• 48% have told their pet a secret they’ve never told anyone else.
(Well, it’s definitely better to tell your cat a secret than to tell a parrot!)
(I’d never get a tattoo of a pet. But I do have a bald friend who had rabbits tattooed on his head. From a distance, they look like hares…)

“FACTS” THAT PEOPLE USED TO BELIEVE:
A Reddit thread asked people to confess the dumb things they used to believe. Here are some of the hilarious answers…
☞ “My grandmother told me when I was little that if I didn’t have enough money at the checkout, they would throw me in jail. I was scared of that until I became a teen.”
☞ “I thought toilets really did spin the other way when you crossed the equator.”
☞ My college roommate’s girlfriend asked: “How do they know where to put gas stations?” When he explained that the company probably does market research to determine if there is a need for another station in the area, she responded: “No, I mean how do they know there will be gas on the corner where they build the station?”
☞ “Bats are not blind. They have eyes and can see. Also, they have an excellent night vision.”
☞ “That different sections of our tongue detect different tastes.”
☞ “That we wouldn’t have a calculator on us all the time to figure stuff out.”
☞ “At summer camp, the counselors told us that ‘drop bears’ lived in the forest, and were attracted to noise, and would attack by landing on people. They had signage and everything to confirm it, too.”
☞ “My dad told me that the stripes on the sides of the road, the ones that make a sound when you drive on them, exist so that the blind people can drive without going off the road.”
(Go ahead — what silly thing did YOU believe as a kid?)
-DidYouKnowFacts
DID YOU KNOW?
“Dad jokes” could be a sign of good parenting, according to an expert. Marc Hye-Knudsen, of Aarhus University’s Cognition and Behavior Laboratory, wrote in the British Psychological Society that dad jokes are important to help children learn to be embarrassed, and to toughen them up to learn that embarrassment isn’t necessarily a bad thing. He claims that, “By teasingly striking at their children’s egos and emotions without teetering over into bullying, fathers build their children’s resilience and train them to withstand minor attacks and bouts of negative emotion without getting worked up or acting out, teaching them impulse control and emotional regulation.” (He definitely put a lot more thought into that than any dad has ever put into a dad-joke!)

TODAY’S BS REASONS TO PARTY . . .
• “Chip & Dip Day”. While North Americans might pick ‘Sour Cream & Onion’ or ‘Salt & Vinegar’ chips, the top flavors for ‘crisps’ in the UK include ‘Roast Beef & Mustard’ and ‘Smoked Ham & Pickle’. The Swiss like ‘Paprika’, while Thais choose ‘Prawn’, and in Egypt, ‘Kebab’ is popular. The best dip? ‘Hot Bean with Jalapenos’ … or is it?
• “Puppy Day”, the idea is to save 10,000 homeless puppies in a single day by encouraging adoptions at pounds and rescue centers. (My wife slapped me when I told her I’m adopting her a puppy. And I thought she’d be excited to hear she’s getting a little husky…)
• “Cuddly Kitten Day”, Today, cuddle and play with your kittens (or cats), even more than usual. It is also suggested you show love in other ways, such as giving them treats and new toys.
• “World Meteorological Day”, an annual UN observance to promote understanding of how weather, climate, and water affects us all. For one thing, it seems to be our favorite topic of conversation. What overused weather cliché should be dumped? (Mixed-bag? Dodged a bullet? White stuff? Snowmageddon? – or the newest irritant: “Atmospheric River”?)
• “Melba Toast Day”, according to lore, the tiny thin, crispy toasts were first prepared for opera singer Dame Nellie Melba, and were named by the eminent hotel magnate Cesar Ritz. Talk about a pedigree!
• “OK Day”, one of the more versatile words in the English Language, it can mean everything from “just fantastic” to “out of danger.” It got its start as a silly misspelling of “all correct” (‘oll korrect’). The first recorded use of ‘OK’ was in the Boston Post on this date in 1839.
